I thought they finished second on the Bundesliga table? Yes they did.
Is that not enough to take them to the UCL? It could, infact, they qualified automatically with Germany having three automatic and a play-off spot.

So what happened? Here is what happened.
Red Bull Salzburg have sealed their fourth consecutive Austrian Bundesliga title after a 1-0 win over Rapid Vienna on Saturday and the implication means UEFA will need to make a decision in June on whether sister Bundesliga club RB Leipzig can enter the Champions League Tournament.

The 2 clubs have the same sponsor.

Solution? One must be dropped by red bull (sponsor), meaning they must not use red bull brand throughout the UCL season.

real madrid and psg have same sponsors "Fly Emirates" and they both participated in this year's champions league
