Dear house, Please advise on conduit split AC pipe installation against usual surface installation. I have a project going on and I am considering conduit split AC pipe installation.

Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by topsy23: 7:22pm On May 15, 2017 |
NairaBaba: Conduit split AC is better than surface. The refrigerant and the condensate must be done before plastering. |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by NairaBaba: 8:10pm On May 15, 2017 |
topsy23: Aesthetically conduit is pretty better. An area of concern is how repair will be carried out if there is refrigerant leak in the conduit copper pipe |

Good evening my people Abeg what is the current price of 8mm, 12mm, 16mm and one roll of binding wire. Pls help me. Spyder880 |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by topsy23: 10:48pm On May 15, 2017 |
NairaBaba: Easy to maintain since the refrigerant pipes is going to be sleeved I.e putting the armaflex and refrigerant pipes inside a 50mm or 75mm Upvc pipe. With this it can be easily pull out if there is any leakage or leakages. Beside it very hard to see refrigerant pipes leaking except the installed did not use correct copper pipes. 2 Likes |

topsy23: My observations in this discussion is simple. There must be a standard. Irrespective of quality of job promised or done, there must be a standard. There must be a range of fees to be charged from the very cheap to the normal rates to the very expensive ones. Although there may be outliers, the price range can and should serve as a guide. Fees cannot and shouldn't just be left at the mercy of the worker. So what is the standard of plastering interior wall? Or exterior wall ground floor, exterior wall upper floors etc? There is and should be an amount per surface area that could be used as reference or pivot for negotiation instead of the arbitrariness I noticed here. Imagine how it feels if we say there is no reference cost for moulding of 9 inches blocks for instance. Even workmanship fixing of tiles on the floor gets billed per square metre etc.. Now imagine, what we are indirectly implying from the present discussion is that we may not even hold government accountable if they claim they are trying to build a block of classrooms for example. How would we know they inflated the price if there is no reference range for plastering for instance? . I am a novice in this business, Pls anyone with professional experience may guide us. 2 Likes |

My dear great people in the house. I asked a question about parapet almost a month ago but did not get responses to it. Please help, I will repost the question below. ****** Hello house. I'm just wondering what the differences are between a curved parapet and the flat one. I would like to know these in terms of ease of construction, workmanship, materials, strength, durability and aesthetics. I got two pix for each. One was from a thread here on nairaland. Thank you. https://www.nairaland.com/1111260/parapet-roofing-support-building-ebonyi/5 @ Spyder880 rotecch77 mufutau55

alstacs: Its only a matter of choice, the two designs has almost same method of construction except that plywood is used to bring out the curves while straight wood is used to bring out the extended flap design, or even the stepped design. As long as they are all concrete cast, cost cannot vary much, but it tends to get costlier depending on the size of projection it has from the wall. The longer it extends from the wall, the costlier it becomes. 2 Likes |

Chairman Spider has said it all, the only area i see again is the cost of plywood and time to construct the formwork is a bit more costly and take more time to do than that of flat design, furthermore it take much time and a little difficult for mason to plaster the curve design. 2 Likes |

I have little ideals about building and construction. At first I am planning on this August to start up with the fencing. So I made some estimates 8 Trip of sand @ 10000-80000 2 trip of fine sand @ 10000- 20000 5 trip of stones @20000-100000 10 bag of cement@3100- 310000 Iron rod@ - 250000 Workers or labour fee @- 150000 Miscellaneous @ 50000 This is what I have prepared so far, if any one could help me out here, I will appreciate. I will also like to know for a trip of sand and bags of cement, how many blocks it can produce ? |

ChijiokeBen: Someone posted the below on this thread, for fencing, wayback. Cant remember who it was. COST OF BUILDING A FENCE Ofcourse, you will have noticed that the pricing of items like Cement has changed significantly, so you need to use the current prices in the above sample, but all the "logic" is still the same and still applicable. Dont also forget that depending on the type of soil (Swampy Vs. Strong Clay), there may be little variations but like @Mario will say about the difference, if any, "It should not be an Earth shattering Experience"! NB: I guess the 'fine sand' is for plastering, after completion of the fence? If that is true, l will suggest you dont plaster fence for now, direct such money into starting your building (Use it to lay Blocks, if nothing else). 3 Likes |
