I think we can handle South Africa. They would always remain our wife grin

I am more concerned with those plantain boyz from Cameroun. They are one team who knows how to rise to the occasion anytime they meet Nigeria. I am really concerned.

Well said. Actually, if I Azubuike could produce the same form I saw in Brazil, I would prefer a midfield anchor of Azubuike and Ndidi. Yes, he was that good! In addition, I have concerns about Onazi rough tackles.

O pari

Dedebanky85:
Azubuike is one player I really like. He was very pivotal to build team gaining promotion. Very dynamic player. He Onazi's mf pairong could be very good. Only fear is that both are box to box and may constantly make forays forward ehoch vould expose the defence sometimes. Other than that, i really wanna see both play alongside Ndidi and lets see what happens.

I believe there was more to the deal. I guess when the Premier League ends we will see...

I picked Rohr because he has put us at a big advantage early. I can't remember the last time we took such early lead in WCQ. Mama Florence, please tell me what she did with the team. What was worth hyping?

daveP:
only jerseys of the hammers is the one with the public knowledge of the deal. as for my pick of the awards, its the same as yours, except that its early to pick, then mama florence deserves it more than rohr. what she did to our women team is worth big deal, just media didnt hype it, but i saw it. when we get wc ticket then rohr owns it.

The team missed the olympic and lost in the semi finals of the AAG. With the pedigree of the super falcons those were disasters. She took the team from the dumps and she deserve a lot of credit for that.

Good observation right there, daveP! I was shocked with what happened in the second half vs Zambia. But I think they suffered a jet lag coupled with the altitude. The condition would be different in Cameroun.

Iwobi Shines As Arsenal Maintain Pursuit Of Man City, Liverpool With Win

Arsenal maintained the pressure in their top four pursuit after beating Sunderland 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

The home team had by far the better chances in the first half but it remained goalless at the break, thanks to superb goalkeeping by Black Cats' Jordan Pickford.

On the brink of half time, Aaron Ramsey shot and hit the target but the keeper saved it, and Rob Holding had a chance to break his Arsenal duck but his header was not powerful enough.

In the 63rd minute, Ozil was put through clean on goal but the German didn't have enough time to react.

Looking to add more bite to the Gunners attack and just under a quarter of the game remaining, manager Arsene Wenger brought on Welbeck and Alex Iwobi, who has been short of games over the past two months.

Alexis finally gave Arsenal the lead in the 72nd minute after Sunderland defenders failed to track his run, and the Chilean grabbed another goal from close range in the 81st minute.

Super Eagles France Camp , Togo Friendly Cancelled ; Kayode Out Of Corsica Game
By Johnny Edward

Super Eagles’ proposed training camp in Paris, France after the May 26 friendly game against Corsica has been called off, a top official of the Nigeria Football Federation has informed Completesportsnigeria.com.

Also the friendly against Togo has also been cancelled due to logistics.

The three-time African champions were scheduled to hold a training camp in Paris but an official in the NFF disclosed that the plan has been shelved and the players and the officials will now return to Abuja after the Corsica friendly.

“The friendly announced by the Togo Football Federation will not hold due to several logistics reasons and the team are due back in Nigeria latest May 28,” the source, a member of the technical sub-committee of the NFF, revealed to Completesportsnigeria.com.

The source also disclosed that the team upon their return will be given a few days off while a new list of players that will prosecute the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa on June 10 in Uyo will be announced.

Meanwhile, Austria-based Kayode Olanrewaju has been ruled out of the May 26 friendly against Corsica due to club commitments.

“Kayode won’t be part of the game. He really wanted to but his club Austria Wien insist he cannot because of the crucial nature of games ahead of them as they fight to finish second in the league,” the source added.

Olanrewaju is expected to lead Austrian Wein’s bid to maintain their second spot in the Austrian Bundesliga behind run-away leaders Salzburg who they host on May 25, a day before the Corsica friendly and in the final game away at Admira Moedling.

Clubs In Turkey , Germany, China Show Interest In Ogu
By Johnny Edward

Turkish club Istanbul Buyuksehir and three tops side in Germany and another in China have all made enquiries about Nigerian midfielder John Ogu, Completesportsnigeria.com has reliably gathered.

Istanbul Buyuksehir, who are still in contention to win the Turkish Super Lig for the first time as they are two points adrift of leaders Besiktas, have contacted the representatives of the Nigerian midfielder, it was gathered.

With four games left to play Istanbul Buyuksehir are already preparing for their debut campaign in the UEFA Champions League for next season.

"There's a possibility Ogu moves this summer but I'm sure that Hapoel Be'er Sheva will want to offer him a better deal to stay so that they can compete well next season," a source close to the Super Eagles midfielder told Completesportsnigeria.com.

Ogu was one of the standout performers for Hapoel Be'er Sheva this season as the Camels clinched the Israeli title for the second successive season.

The Nigerian international scored once in 31 appearances for the Camels who beat Maccabi Tel Aviv to the title for a second year in a row.

The 29-year-old who previously featured for Almeria, Drava Ptuj, U.D. Leiria and Académica is one of the players called up for Nigeria's friendly against Corsica later this month.

NFF coaches storm Abuja for salaries’ screening
By Gowon Akpodonor

Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr.

• Rohr, Omagbemi on standby

After three weeks of delay, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) yesterday began ‘computerization’ of coaches that will benefit from the N2.5 billion-sponsorship deal it signed recently with the country’s foremost integrated energy solutions company, Aiteo Group.

The partnership with Aiteo Group commenced on May 1, but the process of paying the coaches had to be delayed due to what a member of the NFF Technical Committee described as lack of fund to mobilise members to Abuja.

The Guardian, however, learnt yesterday that the NFF decided to set up a three-man committee to meet and verify the claims of the coaches, some of who have since left the service of the federation. Members of the three-man committee are Barrister Chris Green, Chief Felix Anyansi Agwu and the chairman of chairmen and board member of the NFF, Ibrahim Gusau.

The coaches were invited to appear before the committee yesterday in Abuja. Barrister Green, who is the chairman of NFF Technical Committee, told The Guardian on phone yesterday that they were having hectic time dealing with the situation.

“The list of coaches waiting to get their salaries is long and we have to attend to them one by one. All the coaches are here and we are in touch with those residing outside the country through email. Hopefully, we will round up the process tomorrow evening (today) and we will send the list to Aiteo Group,” Green stated.

The decision of the Aiteo Group to shoulder the responsibility of paying the coaches is expected to remove ‘a heavy burden’ from the shoulders of the NFF.

At a media briefing to unveil the partnership with the NFF early this month, NFF President, Amaju Pinnick highlighted the organisation’s constant financial woes when he said: “I am very happy that a critical area of our expenditure is being taken care of by this agreement.”

The Guardian learnt that the NFF committee is concentrating on the local coaches and those who have left the services of the federation.

A source disclosed that Super Eagles’ Coach, Gernot Rohr and his Super Falcons’ counterpart, Florence Omagbemi would get their turn soon after.

NFF have a very problem...
so what's the rationale for cancelling the proposed Togo friendly.
the problem with these folks in Glass house is that they think managing is all about assembling a team and taking them to the field to play and that's all...
I really thank God for rohr....deep down I know if NFF should have their way they will cancel the Paris camping and proposed friendly....

Lo ba tan.

I doubted the possibility of this May camping arrangement right from the start.

I remember safarigirl and I were discussing how that berret wearing sports minister would derail that program.

Mfon Udoh tried to leave Enyimba in 2015 but his deal to Ismailiy of Egypt failed. He even blamed Enyimba at the time. Given the chance, he would have left.

Football is a career and money is an important consideration. If the salary structure of league clubs improve, you will see a fall in the exodus.

Aluko deserves a call-up. He was filthy good yesterday. He will be an asset to the team.
