At least I have sparked a healthy debate...that is something, because this thread has become less than useful, what we find is adverts upon adverts on how to exchange earnings and so few posts on on tips and tricks for newbies on the platform to actually make it to Level 2.

My posts are a humble attempt to contribute to the wealth of knowledge that this thread should be.

In case you are wondering, as any newbie might wonder, and many exasperated oldies have indicated about certain position statements I have canvassed

I simply came to Fiverr with a set of assumptions which I am sharing below:

1. Can I make it to Level 1 and Level 2 without buying reviews? That is not to say that I do not know why people buy reviews and I am not judging anyone that buys, it just does tally with my personal business principles.

2. Can I make it to Level 1 and 2 without fighting for $5 jobs? I have aimed for jobs in the range of $50 to $100 minimum, and have refused to accept anything that pays lesser than those. If I did, how long would it take to get there?

3. Can I make it to Level 1 and 2 without fake traffic?

4. Can I make it to Level 1 and 2 without asking the customer to submit a positive review? I have more customers than reviews by the way!

5. How easy is it to raise $10,000.00 from Fiverr doing all the above?

5. How soon can I raise $10,000.00 from Fiverr doing all the above?

Using the lessons learned from the above, I have gotten friends to set up Fiverr profiles, and I am guiding them on alternative strategies based on the results obtained from the above analysis, and I am also collating the results for comparative analysis.

Like I have said before, copy me exactly if you like, copy me with modifications if you please, I am not judging anyone.

I am simply conducting an experiment...I have a life outside of Fiverr and I do not wish to be professionally associated with Fiverr or as a freelancer.

I thought, I got time to kill, and why not use it to make some money and conduct some cool experiments and share the results with you guys from whom I got a lot of data to test/disprove assumptions?

So there is no need to fight me. Why not learn from me the way I am learning from you all?

Because I am out of here by August 2017 latest and earlier if the experiment how fast can I get to Level 2 under the above circumstances?

Some of the thread starters of similar Fiverr threads no longer post, because they might have moved on to something else.

I too will exit by August 2017.

One tip I would like to drop, if you want to create a business around freelancing, and are really really good, create a portfolio site, and feature it on your Gig, Fiverr will not stop your site appearing there, then users will be able to contact you directly outside of Fiverr as opposed to your telling users within Fiverr to reach out to you outside of Fiverr with all the attendant risks.

The second tip if you do pretty good job, repeat business is guaranteed. One of my clients has committed to a $1,500 job in 5 installments. Two already delivered and paid for, the third one is being worked on as I type.

The third tip is if you decide to outsource, ensure that you are an expert in the field in which you have decided to outsource, so that you can judge if the quality is superb before delivery and if it is not, that you have what it takes to ensure that you can fix it ahead of delivery. This means you should give yourself time to sort any issues out and not set the outsourced delivery date to the same date as you have to deliver to the end user. I cannot stress this enough, there are so many newbies who go to buyer requests and then underbid, get jobs and come begging for people who might also have bidded for the same jobs at the price point those jobs deserved, but lost to them, and then see someone else with those jobs asking for help. Later on those newbies will complain that they are not making it on Fiverr when it was all their fault.

I have read threads upon threads of complaints of poor quality work by buyers on Fiverr around the web and I cannot stress this enough, avoid like the plague those threads that claim you can make money without a skill on Fiverr.

People pay for value, if you can provide value, no client will let you go, they will keep coming for you, and you might then have to up your prices to send some away because you will be swamped with work.

I guess I have tried in my own little way to give back as much as I have gained from you guys and do deserve a better fare.

And for those that say, I talk too much,I do 120 WPM so I have no issues typing lengthy posts that deliver value.

And like someone said, I will be gone sooner than you think!

Nice one.
Follow who knows the way!

I advise dat you shouldnt bother to contact this guy. He is the kind dat claims to be supportive on public forums but act otherwise on the inside.

If you contact him, he will tell u that he will give u for free, but he need to repair his one and only laptop, and that u should support him too with few ##. And you will say u are not bucky, and he will stop responding to ur mails.

So contacting him for support outside public forum is a waste of time.

All you have said is true.

We all know the truth just that the standard is not easy to keep and maintain.

People will be quick to ask about your niche whenever you mention the amount of money you make in a month as if there's any specific niche that is gold-coated.

What I tell people when they ask me which services pay well on Fiverr is that all services pay well depending on your level of proficiency and expertise.

A case study is the guy with the moniker "Bemagnify". That guy has collected countless one star on Fiverr. I just read his post asking how to transform a YouTube video to word document which means that he doesn't even know of the term "transcription" yet he took up a job in that area.

I deleted my transcription gig when I discovered that most of the videos and audios I receive use American accent which is most times difficult to decode no matter how hard you listen to it.

However, the only place I will disagree with you is the area of $50 price floor. Common, unless you are a website designer or something. You don't expect an article writer or a virtual assistant to set such target - It will be unrealistic, owning to the high level of competitiveness.

Skitkid2 - Low sales witnessed too. I guess it's general.

My own now is even getting messages. I seem to have lost buyer request tactics after staying away from there for quite some time.

Edited

As for quitting Fiverr, that has been on my mind as well. I mean sometimes you will discover that Fiverr is not any different from the normal office work just that you aren't physically seeing the people you are dealing with.

You are being subjected to a virtual boss and administrators.

You can wake up anytime and see that your account you have taken years to build has been deactivated due to the report of one crazy buyer.

A friend of mine just got his withdrawal buttons limited. No matter how much he makes now, he cannot be able to withdraw it all because of one client that reported him and has refused to come online to report back that the problem has been resolved.

Fiverr sucks big time sometimes. It is just a case of choosing the lesser evil.

Is it only only on upwork course? Nah

@ your later post, it is better u state u are willing to exchange d material/software with a certain amount. Not dat your are willing to give for free.

Because if it is true that u are willing to give for free, why stop responding to the person dat says he is as well as broke as u.

My brother.

Thanks for seeing that I am adding value.

It is not skills as much as my customer relations that got me where I am.

First, I don't do article writing. I labored (thought about it a great deal and could not get myself to ply my trade in that niche, because just about anyone can write an article, but specialized writing exists, which takes a great deal to write, so I went for the later) over doing $5 jobs and after introspection, I rejected them and focused on more difficult writing stuff. Stuff that not just anyone can do, but someone who can read, stick to a chair for hours on end reading tens of pages sometimes hundreds of pages, take copious notes, before summarizing the content for the user who who does not have the time to do that in original prose!

The other thing is Fiverr is too full of people who want to pay rock-bottom prices while looking for quality services, when I discovered that certain gigs suffered from that, I deactivated them temporarily and later deleted them. There are a few people on Fiverr who are willing to pay a decent wage for excellent labor, I roll with those kinds of clients.

I agree with your position on the $50 floor, but it holds in my case because I do not do article writing. I have charged as much as $30/page in one instance for a writing gig (not article writing), I have even succeeded in getting a client to pre-pay, as in pay me, and mark the job as complete so Fiverr can process payments ahead of starting. Why would a client do that? Because he knows the quality I bring and because of superb customer service (read that to mean 1. I don't get annoyed quickly and 2. I will go to the ends of the end to woo you to become my customer and 3. I will go to the ends of the earth to make you feel like a King or Queen till your dollars leave your pocket and end up in mine and I will keep checking on you from time to time thereafter)!

I have not gotten sales in a few days, but I have clients who have committed to deals, but those deals will only be activated after I have turned in those in the pipeline.

In response to a post by the guy P.hony, I once said, have a plan B, take money made from Fiverr and invest in other businesses. Don't be like Nigeria that paid too much attention to consumption and not to infrastructure and savings and is reaping the fruits in the time of low oil price.

My position still stands, any funds made from Fiverr are not for consumption, but for investment in other money making schemes over which I have a greater degree of control!

Egbon can you kindly screenshot your average selling price? Let's see if your method is working after all smiley

No offence o but this your epistle has been the best I have read. One key point that have helped me in my fiverr experience is the power of negotiation. I have written two page for a client for $100 and it didn't take me 30 mins to work on. Never ever sell yourself short. I use a naija acct and I don't act like I am in dire need of their money. You want to earn big, create a reputation aside fiverr and you will see your earning rise.
