It is very easy to throw darts at Nigerian medical practionals especially with the one-sided stories that are churned out on social media. I read the initial story and saw some loopholes but was too busy to point them out at the time. Why did it take four days after she was admitted before her husband eventually signed the consent from for a cesserian section? Could it be that they were deliberately stalling hoping for a vaginal birth? Her uterus ruptured and she was left alone to bleed to death? In a private specialist hospital that has a reputation to protect? As much as I sympathize with the deceased's loved ones, but I'm not in support of their whipping up sentiments to demonize a hospital (where she birthed her first two children without any complications). May God console them and rest her soul and that of the little one. 48 Likes 4 Shares |

Thank you for this post. Can you share it on the facebook page where the initial story was posted? I sympathize with the family on their loss but as a medical doctor too it hurts when I read stories that are written to 'give a dog a bad name'. The story just didn't add up! Times like this one would wish we weren't held by ethics to protect patient's information even in death, 'cause then at least the accused would be able to make a case for themselves too. I hope the matter gets investigated and truth prevails. Thank you again for the articulate post. 26 Likes 1 Share |

Pre-eclampsia is a VERY SERIOUS life threatening ailment that poses a significant risk to the life of mother and baby therefore should be attended to with urgency. Keeping a patient with Pre-eclampsia for more than 24hrs without treatment (most likely CS) is tantamount to manslaughter! !! Most definitely negligence and in my world, you will not only loose your medical licence to practice, you ll also be looking at a referral to the CPS for criminal charges. Maternal mortality is very high in Nigeria and a large contributing factor is negligence and the itk/inability to listen to patients by doctors/nurses as well as the ability to learn from mistakes AND the stupid risks that doctors often take with patients lives Nigerian doctors/nurses are arrogant, unwilling to learn nor listen and like to play god over someone's life. 25 Likes 3 Shares |

I don't know what happened, but I have had several people around me lose their kids due to the phobia for CS. At the end of it all, they blame it on the doctor/negligence. What's Nigerians problem with CS? The refusal to have a CS has killed more mother and child than the CS itself. You people should forget Hebrew women, you weren't there to see how exactly they did it. Do what's best for mother and child! I'll like to hear the doctor's side of the story. If I am the parents of this girl and I confirm he actually refused to sign. I will make him curse the day he came for her hand in marriage. When my mum was warning my husband about this, (just in case it gets to using CS) I thought she was overreacting.I hope that hospital has their report ready, even CCTV footage to back it up. They'll be needing all the evidence... 38 Likes |

Nice analysis by the way. Most people would out of sympathy question the professionalism of the doctors without seeing the faults of the husband. His overly optimistic attitude is what killed his wife and not the doctors. 8 Likes |

Would have been easier to read if the author took summarisation classes seriously.....gezz see the length However i see some valid point here especially Nigerian women and the phobia for CS... this notion of they must deliver like a Hebrew woman yet how do they know how Hebrew women delivered ... I know 3 friends one doctor self all in nigeria , who were advised earlier on to do CS and they said never it must be natural and in those 3 cases the baby and mother died This CS phobia has caused so many avoidable death where the blame is passed to the doctors unfairly . Rest in peace . Sad 5 Likes 1 Share |
