What if he is going to the same major but different option? for example, you had your MA in mathematics under math science but not you are going for MA statistics under math science ??

Then you must link how this new master will build upon the first. This kind of presentation would me sense if you are currently working but are faced with challenge by your course limitation.

For example your working for large data company shows some difficiency in your statistical skills. To meet your customers' complex data needs and to become leader in your profession, you now want to brush up your statistical skills by this MSc thus, effectively expanding your work delivering and earnings.

But you can say this without mentioning the first MSc, can't you?

Yeah. I want to be as honest as possible. That way, it'll be easier to answer questions thrown at me.

Some things are best left unsaid. ..... it not dishonest it just silence / unsaid. Depending on how you look at it

This is the truth, you would hardly be granted a visa on another master that is a version of the first. It makes no sense to.

Only a VO knows who deserves a visa. Nobody has a clue on who to and who not to be granted a visa. Let's be mindful of our predictions. What if he ends up getting a visa and someday re-read this comment of yours? He'll only smile at your ignorance

If not that Nigeria is the way it is so other factors happens. .... ideally how can you have two masters in the same thing ??

I understand your point. So what if the VO asks what he has been doing since (post-NYSC). That's a common question.

Every single information you put in your application matters. Typically, most people just put the contact of someone in the school..maybe a DSO. That is safe plus it probably also helps with proving nonimmigrant intent.

Thanks, must i know the DSO or contact person in the school? or i shld just get a contact person on the school profile?

A friend told me that VO's hardly give visa to applicants who have been working and applying for 2nd degree. Please how true is this?

Firstly you didnt state the course or your stat / profile so not sure how anyone can advice you without those

Secondly are u focusing on only one school... did u apply to multiple schools to spread your options. Especially if you were not given last year then as a backup i expect you would have applied to other programs

My course is civil engineering at msc or phd level. I scored 311 and 101 on GRE and TOEFL respectively. Kindly advise...although I have open applications for Fall at West Virginia University and Carnegie Mellon University but assistan tship is really crucial to me moving forward. Kindly advise, thanks.

Granted, the eventual decision lies on VOs but some of us that have stayed here for long know when a red flag is waved. That is why we are able to help people prepare here. And I said "hardly". That isn't a foreclosure.

Just as my Lagosismyhome has said, you didn't diversify your choice and obviously you didn't do enough research on the schools to know which will give the funding. If you were so conversant with this thread there was a time some schools that are so generous with fundings were mentioned here and even if you can't read through the previous you should have come humbly to ask questions not just now that looks like its too late....

I pray you get a headway and the best out of this pursuit.

Thanks for your submission. I dont see it as too late I could easily opt for Spring 2018. It is a friend that newly introduced me to this platform couple of weeks ago in the midst of my academic process/hustle. Any suggestion you have in regards to my plight I will kindly appreciate, thanks. I am expecting from you.

Well, the only thing I can advice here is to try do some research about the school on funding and if you're not convinced enough, you can just ask the Professor or admission supervisor in-charge of your file and ask them politely or let me say stylishly but don't try to show you're gonna be depending on that in your mail to them.

Have you tried to mail your advisor on availability of funding in the department? Also you can look through the school website if there are available scholarship in other areas such as sports or something

You don't need to wait to hear from the embassy after paying visa fees. If you've paid all other fees and ready you can go ahead and schedule an interview appointment
