ika people know where they come from and we have said it , it is you igbos that dont know where you come from , some of you will say you are from isreal , others will say igbo ukwu and others say from nri , why dont you people stick to one migration theory , even yorubas have many theories , so also does the ikas have many theories too, as some believe ika came from agbonta area called ominijie in ancient times , some believe in benin migration , while some believe in igbo migration, all these views are allowed we dont shout people down and we are not as barbaric as some people are.
as for olukunmi their major migration is from yorubaland and later mixed , they are unique and they can choose to be yorubas or igbo if they so wish , so let them be.

The Edekiri/Yoruba languages/dialects spoken across West Africa include and in the diaspora include:

Ede Cabe
Ede Ica
Ede Idaca
Ede Ije
Ede Nago
Ede Nago Kura
Ede Nago Manigiri-Kambole
Ife
Isekiri
Lucumi
Mokole
Ulukwumi
Yoruba

Perhaps the Lucumi speakers in Cuba are descended from Ulukwumi in Delta state.

You obviously are the one who needs to get the facts straight sir. OLUKUMI DOES INFACT EXIST, in a town called Ugbodu under the aniocha north lg which i believe and which everyone who comes from Delta State knows is under the Anioma ethnic group. And we (Olukumis) do have a relationship with the yorubas. AND WE ARE NOT DESENDANTS OF A SINGLE MAN. So before you contradict what someone else knows, gather your information first.

When did this happen? First of all there is no such thing as the "Anioma ethnic group". Second of all, what are the 12 different languages? The only dialects spoken in Anioma are Enuani and Ika which are both a part of the Igbo language so what are the other 11 languages aside from Igbo?

You said "agreed to join the union of Anioma with the rest of their neighbouring communities". When was this? The term "Anioma" was formed to make distinctions between the Igbo speaking people of Northern Delta and the Edoid speaking peoples of southern Delta.

Agian there are no Edoid or Yoruba speaking people in Northern Delta. Like I stated earlier, the two main dialects spoken in Delta North are Ika and Enuani.
With the origin of the Olukumi(that is i they really exist), I doubt they are have any relationship with the Yoruba, most likely they haveytheir origins in Edo. Some other things to consider are their population. What is the population of the Olukumi now? I doubt if it is over 10 thousand epople. Now go back sixty years to 1951, around the time the Anioma political umbrella was set up, what wouldve been theur population then? 100? I think that the Olukumi might be the descendants iof a single family or man who emigrated from the Edo speaking regions.

highly doubtful and only a fairly recent concocted story.

going by oral history, tradition and patterns of migration to say the least, oduduwa [who btw wasnt the first ooni in ife] was from another yoruba or yoruboid group somewhere.

you're free to disagree with this without being rude. undecided

we already know yorubas interacted with their eastern neighbours in ancient times.
so oduduwa did not fall from the sky again? He was not the first oni? And was from another yoruba group? Wonders. Did this your oral history remember which yoruba group he was from and who was the first oni of ife? Why will you guys go to any lenght to sommasault over your selves like atilogwu dancers? Is it too much to own up to logical truths?

Ebira is spoken in Edo (Igarra), kogi, Nassarawa, FCT and Niger States as a correction to this entry

You don't get it. Ukwunzi does not sound Yoruba. It sounds Igbo or Edoid. None of those other names are Yoruba either. Olukumi is most likely and Edoid speaking group not Yoruboid or it might be an isolate language.

You need to understand the difference between an language and a dialect. A language has many dialects while a dialect is the most basic form of a language. Edo has many dialects, Igbo has many dialects, Olukumi is a dialect not a language. Aboh, Ukwuani, ozarra, Ika, are all Igbo. Ebira is spoken only in Kogi and Edo states. I don't know why you included it here.Utagba is also part of Ukwuani and Olukunmi is not Anioma but is Edoid. So far I'm only seeing two languages Igbo and Edo. [/quote]

Ogaga or Ogoga actually means king in Ekiti yoruba dialect

In urhobo it means Power

Hmm

for example Ogaga or Ogoga of Ikere

http://www.britishmuseum.org/explore/highlights/highlight_objects/aoa/p/pair_of_door_panels_and_a_lint.aspx

some parts of Ekiti claim Edo/Bini origins, so you cant use such examples as a yardstick.

^^not aware of this ogoga title.

what's the pronounciation?

there seems to be two kings in ikere- an olukere [of ife origin] and the ogoga [who seems to have migrated from benin]. Got this from a quick search.

never heard of this conflict before.

as per the ogoga/ogaga meaning- that's entirely possible.

we also have juba in yoruba which means worship or respect, and juba happens to be the name of a roman emperor of african origin.

so, there's really a lot that needs to be looked into by informed minds with the right training and experience.

Give them more time and Olukunmi will become entirely Igbo. This is the story of the whole of Anioma, Onitsha and even Ogbaland in Rivers state. Formerly non Igbos who became Igbos. This sort of thing happens all over the world. The people of France may have been speaking a Germanic language in the past for instance but are now speakers of a Romance language. That is how it goes.

Your moniker no be igbodefender for nothing, clearly. Why don't you go ahead and claim Itsekiri and Hausa? Have they all got ancient links to Agukwu Nri?

Hausa and Itsekiri are too close. Igbodefender has gone international. Mozambicans, Zambians, all the Bantu people, in short; plus the Japanese are Igbo.

We never said Japanese were Igbo. We said both Igbos and Japanese share lots of simmilar words. For instance: Chinda... Igbo name- Chinda... Japanese name; Obi... Igbo name- Obi...Japanese name. What is so wrong in that. Is it not true?

Lol. I also find some of your conclusions on Igbo history abhorrently absurd due to their repulsive, deepseated, Chamberlainic and velociraptor-like insularity, their apparent intolerance, condescending appearance and short and turned up substance delivery as elucidated by certain outlandish exagerations which have obviously been plucked out of the realms of outlandish fantasy.

The obdurate worldview that sustained the notion that the world was flat when it eventually turned out it was always round should be reproved without apologies whenever it seeks to stultify human progress and the exchange of ideas and truth. But then, freedom of thought and speech are your right, Bruv.
