TRAFFIC WARDEN is a department under the Nigeria Police Force.. It recruitment is through the same police recruitment process, it's just that the traffic wardens you see still underwent some sort of special training.. They want to seperate the both just as that of the FIRE SERVICE, but it has not been seperated for the time being. |

No fewer than 500 candidates already shortlisted for
the ASP and Special Inspector cadate jobs in the
Nigerian Police Force were suddenly replaced with
names of those who never participated in a series of
tests for the recruitment programme in 2016, according
to some of the affected candidates.
They complained that it was after their names had
appeared in the publication made by by the committee
that they discovered some manipulation
innthevexercise
Narrating her experirnce on the issue, Miss Elly Oge,
who said her name was among those directed to report
at the Police College Jos said: “There was no
communication telling us of any change in date until
we reported at Jos, as instructed .
” But the first embarrassment for me, having travelled
from Lagos , at the gate of the school was the
programme had been postponed.
“However, we later noticed that people were being
given accommodation, and none of them was part of
screened candidates, nor were they at the previous
stages of the writtrn , oral and medical tests that we
had undergone.”
Another candidate , Mr. George Abang, said he
travelled from Calabar for the final exercise only to
meet entirely a new set of candidates.whom he had
been interacting with in the previous exercises.
“One of them later advised me to go for a top politician
or someone, who knows people in the police top
hierarchy for me to be given a chance .
” But i felt this is not what I bargain for, moreover, I
don’t know anyhody in that cadre ,”
Confirming havong received similar complaints
from.some of the disaffected candidates, a lawyer in
the chambers of Adebgoruwa, legal practioner and
human rights activist, they had addressed somec
letters the Senate President; Bodila Saraki, Minister of
Labour snd Productivity, Chris Ngige, as well as the
Chairman, Nigerian Police Service Commission , Mike
Okiro and other offices that should have some.say on
the matter, adding that no reply had come from them
till the time of oing to press.
The said letter , signed by Mr Kingdley Izimah, ESQ,
and dated Friday, March 10, 2017 reads in part: “We
are Solicitors to 260 shortlisted successful applicants
under the “ASP and Inspector Specialist Cadet” category
in the just concluded 2016 Police recruitment exercise,
who are awaiting resumption at the various Nigeria
Police College training camps, (hereafter referred to as
‘our Client’) on whose behalf and instruction we write
this letter.
“”Consequent upon this development and publication
of the names of successful applicants, our client and
the other 260 shortlisted successful “ASP and
Inspector Specialist Cadet” applicants patiently waited
to be called by the Police Service Commission to
resume training at the Police College, only for them to
be informed that another group of people who did not
undergo recruitment process, aptitude test, physical
screening and documentation have been fraudulently
injected and unjustly enrolled into the Police College
training camp to replace the “ASP and Inspector
Specialist Cadet” category under ambiguous
circumstances and without clearly defined criteria for
eligibility and in contravention of the Federal Character
as guaranteed under the Constitution.
” Upon further inquiry, our client was informed by the
Permanent Secretary of the Police Service Commission
that the recruitment exercise was over and that there is
nothing the Police management can do.”
“We decided to approach your good offices as a means
of preserving the Constitutional provisions laid down
in section 14 (3) of the 1999 Constitution which states
that:
“3 –the composition of the Government of the
Federation or any of its agencies and the conduct of its
affairs shall be carried out in such a manner as to
reflect the federal character of Nigeria and the need to
promote national unity, and also to command national
loyalty, thereby ensuring that there shall be no
predominance of persons from few States or from a
few ethnic or other sectional groups in that
Government or in any of its agencies”.
“Given the controversies trailing the 2016 Police
recruitment exercise, we urge your good offices to
properly investigate this case in order not to
jeopardize our national security or create a situation of
panic that may affect the nation negatively.”
Despite this approach, there has not been any change
in approach to issues raised by the letter.
But the shortchanged candidates said they would want
their case be investigated as to be given back their
position, unconditionally .
An aide to the chairman.of.the Nigerian Police
Commission, Chief Mike. Okiro, told emagazine.com.ng
that the case was being looked into .
“We receive a deluge of letters daily, which makes it
seem.as if there is a.delay on any matter. If their
allegation.is correct, justice must prevail,” he stated.. |
