I know this, but it used to be the one voted by players that is the ultimate- sir Busby. Why a shift of the goalpost?

Valencia won it in 2011, DeGea last three years with players votes used

There's no shift in goal post. It has always been like that. Like i said, the Matt Busby Player of the Year award voted for by the fans is the ultimate.

Yes, Valencia won the Player's Player of the Year Award in 2011/12 season and he also won the Matt Busby Player of the Year Award that same season. There can be a split between the fans' choice and the player's choice. That's exactly what happened this season.

And it is happening for the first time?

Anyway, to me the Players votes are the most important and most dependable because they are the real professionals who understand the game.

The PFA player of the year is voted by Premier league players. Not fans. Fans can be carried away by sentiments and looks.

It is not happening for the first time. It has always been like that. There are seasons when there's a split like that before.

You should also remember that past players are also part of the fans that voted. This voting system has a large sample size compared to that voted by the players only.

The Matt Busby Player of the Year Award is the most recognised and most documented.

Some (a section) of the fan based who voted no know ball. Don’t forget that.

It is not also by chance that Valencia won 3 players of the month awards this season. The fans screwed it.

I was given Ebonyi.

May we all have a successful service year to our fatherland.
Thanks bro. I registered very early on the 1st day of registration o. I guess 1st come, 1st serve doesn't apply in this scenario. *sigh*

I see it as a below average season, the only thing that can stop it from being a total failure is getting into the CL next season

Every top team goes into the season hoping to win 1 the CL, 2 the league and a distant 3rd the FA cup.

Carling cup and Charity shield are worthless tournaments which until recently managers just treat as a glorified friendly ad field their youth team I even remember Ferguson pulling out of the FA cup and to be honest with you I didnt even know there was a tournament called Worthinton, Carling, Milk or whatever cup till around 1997 while I have known the league CL and FA cup way before

The CL you didnt participate, League you are 6th that is your second worst league position in probably 25yrs, FA cup while very scant consolation you are out. That is after spending a lot and assembling one of the most expensive team in history

As at today I will rank Man Utd season around 30% winning the Europa will move it to 40%

Next season I dont like Mourinho, but I think a lot of the buck stops with him and his tactics. Its vomit inducing for Man utd to be bunkering against sides who dont cost totally the price of Pogba. In football you need to dominate the opponent if you are superior, negative tactics are only acceptable if you are significantly inferior talent wise. There were times Fergusons team didnt have superior talents but they went with believe. JS Park, OShea, Brown, GNeville, Fabio, Rafael arent exceptional talents but when they enter the field especially in the league, every opponent will be praying to minimize the scoreline

Lets look at top clubs and point this season vs last season as at today

Chelsea Last season 50 points this season 90 points increase of 40 points
Spurs Last season 70 points this season 83 points increase of 13 points
Liverpool Last season 60 points This season 73 points increase of 13 points
Arsenal Last season 71 points this season 72 points increase of 1 point
City Last season 66 points This season 75 points increase of 9 points
United Last season 66 points this season 66 points increase of 0 zero after all that spending

Man utd current team is good enough to play good football, the coach is holding them back
good swings and I don't really need to argue most of your points but if we look at it well then we'd see there's always that fine line between 'perceived' seasonal success and failure.

Jose Mourinho will be the first Manchester United manager to win anything in his first year in charge. That has to mean something. The unbelieving fans and those who simply want to troll choose to summarize the whole season on performances from after the Swansea game. Your point that he chooses to bunker against decent sides will fall flat on its face if we look at the hard facts, which I will not delve into now. This man holds the record points total in the EPL, the highest goals scored in a single season in the La Liga; if he achieved these bunkering then I believe he should get even more credit. It's easy pointing out that the Charity Shield and Capital One Cup are worthless but managers go in there to win regardless. You cant even qualify to play in the Community Shield except you have the League title or FA Cup from previous, so why is it a meaningless friendly? There was no single manager Manchester United faced in the Cups who dished out academy players.

Do you know there's a possibility that Jose Mourinho claims the Shield, Capital One Cup, Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup all in his first season? Do you also think the UEFA Super Cup is meaningless friendly?

Many 'pundits' say since Manchester United's season depend on a Europa league final to be deemed a mini-success or failure, that means they have failed even after they spent 89m on one player (yes it always come down to this).
Let's look at Real Madrid's season: for everything Cristiano Ronaldo has done so far, if they lose the UCL final and get toppled by Barcelona somehow, both of which are very possible if we are to be realistic; their season suddenly becomes a colossal failure. Nobody will remember or give a goat's teat about all that fanfare over the course of the season. Switch the coin and they claim both trophies; this is one of the greatest teams ever liveth and Zinedine Zidané is a god.
The same story goes for FCB this season.

In essence fans want substantial rewards (apologies to Arsenal fans), this is why your league points summary is funny. Its no projection of how the title challenge will turn out next season. Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City et al where is the trophy for improving on points garnered? In other words, where is the substance sir?? grin grin grin so if Jose Mourinho gives up on the league after careless draws and mounting injury list to cater for a more pressing need, he's by no means a fool.

I agree next season he has to do better in the league of course.

PS: Chelsea and Liverpool have participated in the Europa League final in recent years, many people couldn't give a camel's toe.
Manchester United qualified for the final and the world (fans, haters and neutrals) is eager to see the outcome.
adored, hated, never ignored >>> Bow down>>> Manchester United is god wink

And by Wednesday evening what difference would it make where any of them ended in the league? Knowing Madrid and United and the history of success behind them, they will be favorites to excel another year again. Both will remain record holders of their countries league titles, both will be competiting in the most prestigious club competition in the world next season and will be going for a shot at the final, semis or quarters. Same can't be said for the serial bottlers over there up north. Both would lift European trophies and United will give English football some pride since Chelsea, another London team won the UCL in 2012. United to the rescue again 5 years after! Both will lure the best players with their money, European achievements, prestige and brand. Same can't be said of some club with a senile patient as their manager who as we all know is ready to lose his best players yet again, try to win the FA Cup-The North London version of the Champions League, start from scratch for another new season with the 2017/2018 class of babies. And play in the Europa League which i remember him saying after Monaco dumped him last year gives him a better shot at an European trophy.

I can understand Dayo'kunu' trolling, lil kesh trolling, even the up barca boys trolling but a serial loser, who 10-2 fail at every given opportunity especially considering they have mastered the art of failure for the last 12 years now trolling United who have been racking trophies even while suffering a bad patch.. That i can not comprehend

"Paul Pogba is fine. A strong guy, strong mentality. He’s learning how to live after his father passed away, but he is strong. He knows that he needs to play on Sunday because he hasn’t played or trained for a long time and he needs these minutes on the pitch, so he plays against Palace.

"You will have the two goalkeepers, Joel Pereira and Kieran O’Hara, we will have Demi Mitchell, Scott McTominay, Josh Harrop, Matty Willock, Angel Gomes and Zachary Dearnley. I think that’s it. Plus Tim Fosu-Mensah and Axel Tuanzebe, so lots of them.

"I think one [young player can play] in the middle of a good structure, a dynamic structure, an experienced structure, yes. But as for lots of them together, I think no [they aren't ready].

"I will bring three of four of the first-team players, you know, to play one half each. I can give a little bit of experience to the team but, at the same time, save them all for Wednesday. I don’t know [whether] Wayne [will play] or not, he played 90 minutes in the last match, so probably not."

Nah for you o elampiro.

In monthly awards, the memory is still fresh for the football players to make a reasonable judgement.

Fans have a good level of judgement, but it is far from the excellent level of judgement of the professional footballers.

Fans can easily be carried away by an ovation of the moment instead of looking at the overall picture of the entire period. If fans were to vote, James Rodriguez could have won the Ballon d'or of 2010 and Griezmann that of 2016.

Didn't I tell you. From 3 to 4 experienced players to an experienced 11.

He said he would play U23s vs Arsenal, but instead we saw Carrick, a 36yo. Arsenal even had Holding without much fuse.

Lowest wins in their premier league career since 1991 or so what a feat to celebrate after breaking transfer record.

They say Europa cup is not important because they anticipate we will win it. If we don't win it, they will come here to laugh at us like we have lost a world cup final.

I don’t know of any big team that qualified for Europa either via their local league or group stage exit from UCL that refused to play in it.

May God be with Manchester United next Wednesday. We want to win it. For us, it means everything.
