€2million is enough to buy arms and wage a brutal and effective war against the Nigerian government. What we clearly lack in Nigeria is the good leadership. It's always best if a country never negotiate and give in to terrorist. They will always use the same method. People should get ready for a renewed onslaught from the terrorist. 2 Likes |

Ikem11: All nations negotiate with terrorists. They say otherwise because they know that immature, naive sheep will believe the lie that they never negotiate with terrorists. The Americans did so with the Iranian terrorists under Reagan and have done so consistently since. The French have been known to negotiate with terrorists. Likewise the British. We Should Negotiate With Terrorists. We Always Have. Who started “We don’t negotiate with terrorists”? The president who did just that more than any other. Let’s stop this reactionary nonsense. Every president since has said we don’t negotiate with terrorists. And every president has. And I would say prudently and reasonably so. When terrorists can give you information, for a certain price or because you have a shared enemy, take it. George W. Bush paid a ransom of $300,000 to a radical Islamist group in the Philippines that was holding two American missionaries, a married couple, captive. To get them to safety? I say, fine. Alas, however, the man was killed, even after we paid the money. So an American president ended up financing terrorist operations and overseeing a failed military mission. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/06/06/we-should-negotiate-with-terrorists-we-always-have 1 Like |

[quote author=bishopkay post=56698827]2million euros. ..you see why crime would always be lucrative in Nigeria? You leave the graduate jobless and hopeless while you compensate the renegades and criminals for being bold enough to take up arms. Had it been GEJ who did this, Sahara reporters, the nation newspaper, punch, APC media office ET Al would have turned analysts now on how the money would be chanelled back to fight us,. How GEJ is clueless, how GEJ was paying off his boys etc. But as its buhari, everything is fine. WHAT REALLY CHANGED? I MEAN OUR LEVEL OF DOUBLE STANDARDS IN THIS COUNTRY IS ALARMING! don't forget he could have also negotiated with them, paid them off and take the easy way out but he didn't. I leave us all to our consciences though. [/quote Youve spoken well 3 Likes |

pokipoki: Iranian hostage crisis. One of the best known. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_hostage_crisis_negotiations There are several others but I won't be doing your homework for you. The internet is a great resource, a simple search will show that I'm right and that this childish belief that governments don't negotiate with terrorists to be stupid. |

mmsen:Mind when you reading imagination and assumptions articles. That article lacks merit my brother. First, if possible there was chibok girls, no Country negotiate to release non diplomate civilians.. Paying that huge amount of money to release those girls is funding cashless terrorists to equip to kidnap more. What bad is bad. Never should we negotiate with terrorists! 2 Likes |

All this Nairalander sef. You can all express your grievances here but who cares. All of you are just running your mouth like tap water. Meanwhile the same set of people calling for Nigeria to disintegrate will be the first set of people to run for their lives if all the trouble start. Bunch of hypocrites. |

godunia: Look at it this way; You gave them €2m + their arrested commanders and they gave you 82 kidnapped girls. You take your girls to rehab. center, they use their money to buy more arms and kill over 1000 of your people. Can't you see that the govnt is at lost. They should have at least poisoned those Boko members b4 handling them over. 2 Likes |

From my lay man point of view,do u realise that money can be used to finance terrorist attacks and the release of the five prisoners is most likely to be the reason behind the most recent bomb threat which can lead to scores of deaths. Why are we always like this, been sentimental and playing politics with everything?I weep for my country bkool7: 2 Likes |

Ikem11: Why does the article lack merit? Every nation attempts dialogue with terrorists. Especially when they take hostages. It's usually the safest means of return. You, like most, are very naive when it comes to this matter and this is what happens when people repeat dogmatic slogans such as "we don't negotiate with hostage takes/terrorists". Only a child would believe such. 1 Like |

If any of the news of the degradation of the BH torroist by Nigerian Armies and Buhari's media was any correct, then this piece of news here is totally uncalled for. The negotiated terms showed that BH had the upper hands and the FG was on the back foot. 1.BH had to select which prisoners to release 2. What number to release and which to release. This gets me worried as we have just bolden the terrorist and we should expect more recklessness on the part of this government buying electoral campaign promises. 1 Like |
