Hbuyosh: Tales by moonlight. I see no difference btw Kenya and Angola in regards to dictation and corruption. Just like Angola, in Kenya, the richest black families and people are politicians. Some political families have turned Kenya to their private estates. |

Nowenuse:That's the truth and I think that's how Jomo Kenyatta became the owner of Brookside, the largest milk company in kenya. His son, uhuru Kenyatta tried to make the company a multinational by entering the Tanzanian market. The company was thrown out by the tanzanian president. The kenyans rejoiced at brookside's loss. You know, it is a kikuyu company. |

Nowenuse: Kenya is thoroughly democratic, u cannot compare the levels of political freedom in Kenya with Angola, where even picketing is outlawed, often met with ruthless for. I can call my president a thief and an idiot, and nothing would become of it. Can Angolans do that without consequences? Kenya is as corrupt and democratic as Nigeria or eeven SA. May I also tell u that the majority of the millionares in Kenya were not politicians or politically connected in any way. 1 Like |

Hbuyosh:when it comes to freedom of speech, i think it should be check and balance. ghana is getting out of hand, the former president name was used to call bus conductor. insulting the president one on one on social platform or radio station. I do not fully agree with total freedom of speech. |

Naspers Ltd. is considering the sale of its pay-TV business in Africa as sluggish economic expansion in key markets stifles growth and viewers switch to cheaper online alternatives, according to two people familiar with the matter. A disposal of Multichoice won’t include the South African division, which is still highly profitable, said the people, who asked not to be identified as the plans haven’t been made public. A sale is one of a number of options being considered by Africa’s biggest company by market value, and a final decision hasn’t been reached, one of the people said. Naspers and MTN Group Ltd., Africa’s largest wireless operator, have briefly discussed a deal for Multichoice Africa, but no agreement was reached, according to one of the people. Both companies confirmed on Thursday that they are still in talks that were disclosed earlier about sharing TV content. MyBroadband, a South African internet news site, reported earlier that MTN was in talks to buy MultiChoice Africa, citing unidentified people. A sale of Multichoice Africa would represent a further shift by Cape Town-based Naspers away from its traditional media business, which includes newspapers and Multichoice’s main product, the DSTV satellite-TV service. Since winning big with a 2001 investment in Chinese technology company Tencent Holdings Ltd., a stake that’s now worth about $107 billion, Naspers has become a serial investor in internet companies around the world, ranging from an online travel agency in India to education software providers in Silicon Valley. Profit Slump The value of the Tencent stake is worth more than Naspers’s market value of 1.2 trillion rand ($89 billion), which partly reflects the weak performance of the TV division. While the company arrested a decline in subscriber numbers over the six months through September, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization at the unit declined 33 percent to $331 million. As Naspers charges customers in local currencies, “the continued weakness of currencies and economies in many African countries resulted in lower U.S. dollar revenues,” the company said in its November results presentation. Nigeria’s economy contracted for the first time in 25 years in 2016 and its currency has depreciated by 37 percent against the dollar over the past 12 months. Sub-Saharan African economies grew by an average of 1.4 percent last year, compared with 3.4 percent in 2015, according to the International Monetary Fund. © 2017 Bloomberg L.P https://www.moneyweb.co.za/news/companies-and-deals/naspers-said-to-consider-sale-of-multichoice-africa/ |

Hbuyosh: SIGHHH! Mwenzangu, you disappoint me! IdI Amin never did a fraction of those crimes. Believe you me when I say it was a long running multi generational Tutsi plan to grab power. Same thing with Obote. He repeateddy offered to return and give evidence on WHO EXACTLY KILLED THOUSANDS OF BAGANDAS WHEN HIS TROOPS WEREN'T EVEN IN LUWEERO. Also, do you have proof of the Kenyattas 500 k acres? I've seen that figure bandied about. Yes,they have extensive land holdings but are really that figure?? Be careful with the seductive power of false narratives!! They're easy to believe and impossible to disprove. Did you watch the Ouko murder special investigation on Citizen tv? Finally, after years of abuse it was proved Troon of Scotland yard was full of b.s. and neither MoI nor Biwott had anything to do with Oukos killing! |

Nowenuse: Lol. Everybody in Naija has his or her tales of marginalization. For the West it is the claim that the abrogation of regionals crippled them, for the Igbo it is that we have been denied infrastructure and political power, for the Niger-Delta it is the claim that they are denied their oil wealth etc. My only grouse with Nigeria is that we have ignored and some times violently suppressed such agitations which are part of a democratic system which has in turn caused so much conflict that has endangered Nigeria. If Nigeria can agree on some minimum national standards and hold on to it e.g no electing of sectional leaders like Buhari's case, human right for even the smallest of groups etc then Naija is good to go. On the issue of Biafra I feel that if Nigeria can use superior argument rather than force on IPOB and Biafran agitators the issue might be resolved. Nigeria has not been too bad for the Igbo as people believe. In the 90's and 2000's the argument was that Igbo people could not be given sensitive positions in Nigeria as they were regarded as inferior citizens. Since then the Igbo have held the post of CBN governor, Finance minister, Army chief, Police chief, Petroleum minister with these post sometimes held all at once etc thereby weakening the claim of deliberate marginalisation. I feel that is the same way the claim of political marginalisation will be defeated. Democracy and nation building is a long race and not a short sprint and Nigeria has had only about 18 years of it therefore there is not enough material to reach a final analysis. The fear is that Nigeria might reverse this gains and go back to the practice of bigotry and tribalism as the election of Buhari the biggest African demagouge of the 21st century shows. |
