Besides the holy spirit who makes intercession for us and through us, Jesus is the only other part of the Trinity who makes intercession for our sins.

Until you show me where in explicitly says that saints make intercession for us, I don't mean giving me Bible passages that you implied its meaning on your own...show me Bible passages where it is clear and direct about the subject of saints interceding for us.

Not all bowing connote worship

1 kings 2:19 So Bathshe′ba went to King Solomon, to speak to him on behalf of Adoni′jah. And the king rose to meet her,and bowed down to her;Gen 33:6 Then the maids drew near, they and their children, and bowed down; 7 Leah likewise and her children drew near and bowed down; and last Joseph and Rachel drew near, and they bowed down.

Gen 27:29 Let peoples serve you,and nations bow down to you.Be lord over your brothers, and may your mother’s sons bow down to you.

psalm 72:9 May his foes bow down before him,

If all bowing is worship then Jesus would be causing people to be idolatrous by his words in
Rev 3:9 Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie—behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and learn that I have loved you.

on statues
Statues were used in the old testament temple Solomon built for God, and God didn't regard it as idolatry,
in 1 kings 6: 23 In the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim of olivewood, each ten cubits high. 24 Five cubits was the length of one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the length of the other wing of the cherub; it was ten cubits from the tip of one wing to the tip of the other. He decorated it with carvings too
1 kings 6:29 He carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, in the inner and outer rooms.Even in the Holy of holies where God dwelled in the temple 15 feet tall golden statues were thereand after building with statues God consecrated that temple to himself
1 kings 8: 6 Then the priests brought theark of the covenant of the Lord to its place, in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the most holy place, underneath the wings of the cherubim. 10 And when the priests came out of theholy place, a cloud filled the house of the Lord, 11 so that the priests could notstand to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.
1 kings 9: 3 And the Lordsaid to him, “I have heard your prayer and your supplication, which you have made before me; I have consecrated this house which you have built, and put my name there for ever; my eyes and my heart will be there for all time..God also commanded statues of cherubims to be made on the ark
Exo 25: 18 And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work shall you make them, on the two ends ofthe mercy seat. 19 Make one cherub on the one end, and one cherub on the other end; of one piece with the mercy seat shall you make the cherubim on its two ends. 20 The cherubim shall spread out their wings above, overshadowing the mercy seat with their wings, their faces one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubim be.

THE FACT ABOUT ADDING TO THE WORD BY ADDING TO THE HAIL MARY DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.. WE ARE NOT ADDING GREETING IN LUKE 1... JUST LIKE PEOPLE WHO PRAY WITH PSALMS OR FORM SONGS FROM SCRIPTURE ARE NOT ADDING TO IT

Even biblically all bowing does not connote worship..

The English gentleman bows to greet a lady or fellow gentlemen, or when he wants to ask her to dance..

the Chinese people bow to each other as a sign of respect or a greeting..

Yoruba people prostrate to greet their elders

Some men kneel during engagement to ask for a lady's hand..

All these acts do not mean worship,

You don't know what is in our hearts when we kneel or bow only God does, let him judge us if he sees our Bowing or kneeling as worship..

I don't know any of these churches. So, I don't speak for them.

Now, all these talks of “what about this... what about that person” is stale already. Are these people your own standard? While there's absolutely nothing wrong in having a friend's picture in either your house, car, office, etc, the moment that image becomes an abomination is when you put it before you, kneel/bow and pray to it. That is outright idolatry! So, in which of these churches you've mentioned is the worship/veneration of images sanctioned, as it is done in your Catholic church?

Tell me, that I may also call them out for their idolatry.

PS: Philippians 4:6 states: “...but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God”, not unto “Mary” or the “saints.” You don't need an intercessor to get your prayers to God, pray to Him in the name of Jesus as the mediator and you'll be heard! Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Samuel, Deborah and other faithful servants of God never ask any saint or angel for intercession, but all made their requests and supplications directly to God, who is the hearer of prayers! (Psalm 65:2).
Here are few reasons to clear your doubt on Catholics praying through Mary and other saints: The Scriptures in James 5vs14 to 17 clearly states that the prayer of a righteous man availeth much and therefor we should seek prayers of Holier Members of the Church....secondly...Mark 2verse5 shows that Jesus healed the paralytic because of the Faith of His Friends who brought him from the roof...not necessarily because of the paralytic...so d point is that Jesus can grant your prayers not because of you but because of another person who may be more pleasing to Him....You can also confer from Jer 42verse 2 and see that those men practically told Jeremiah to plead to God for them that He may show them mercy....also in 2tim2verse1 St Paul said he desired that supplications and intercession be made for all men and in Thes 5verse25 St Paul says brethren Pray For us...SO I ASK YOU WHAT IS WRONG IN TELLING MARY TO PRAY TO GOD FOR YOU? When St. PAUL SAID BRETHren Pray for us... 1cor1to25 says we are all members of the body of Christ and that the Hand can't say to the Leg i don't need you....so you can't tell Mary who is part of the body of Christ as a matter of fact the Neck that you don't need hersmiley.smileyYES SHE IS THE NECK COS SHE IT WAS THAT CONNECTED US TO CHRIST...through Her He came so you even need her much more than you may think...

Every Nigerian is now a self professed genius... you all should chill and read Exodus 20:4 very well “Do not make for yourselves images of anything in heaven or on earth or in the water under the earth"....your pastor's image nko? the same God who gave these commands instructed for a bronze serpent to be made.
The bible is a double edged sword subject to different interpretations. Now who understands symbolism?? A lot of people shouting idolatry lack its in depth understanding. Do you know if we go by a Protestant's definition of idolatry, we ALL will go to hell??
The RCCG uses a dove, which is an earthly creature as its logo..that can be viewed as flagrant disobedience to God's law too but common understanding makes us understand better....the list goes on.
Prayer handkerchiefs being handed out by Protestants is what? the believe in the 'power' of the handkerchief is a form of worship to it.
Worse part is the religion we kill ourselves for, was brought by people who now use it is to control us.
The Bible said worship God in spirit and truth not redeem and living faith.
The Bible said when two or more are gathered in my name, who are you to decide who is and isn't gathered in God's name when the same Bible said do not judge
We will be forming know all...God help us all.

MZLady39:
John 20:23

Author: Ángel Manuel Rodríguez
What did Jesus have in mind when, according to John 20:23, He gave His disciples authority to forgive sins?

This passage has been debated for centuries, particularly during and after the Protestant Reformation. Forgiveness of sin is essentially an act of divine grace toward rebellious creatures made possible through the costly sacrifice of Jesus. Whatever conclusion we reach on the meaning of this text, we have to remain within that particular understanding.
1. Forgiveness and Personal Offenses: God's forgiving disposition is expected to be practiced by human beings. Jesus said: "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, 'I repent,' forgive him" (Luke 17:3, 4).* This generous spirit is modeled after God's infinite disposition to forgive us our sins: "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you" (Eph. 4:32).
2. Forgiveness and Church Discipline: Although the verb "to forgive" is not employed in Matthew 16:19 and 18:18, the context of the last verse suggests that the authority to "bind" and to "loose" includes the idea of disciplining members or forgiving the offenses of those who repented. This responsibility was given to the church and not to a particular individual within the church. It is true that at first Jesus was addressing Peter (Matt. 16:19), but the same was said to the disciples (Matt. 18:18) and through them to the church. The text could be translated literally: "Whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven." The church's decision must reflect a decision previously made in heaven. This is possible only through a knowledge of God's will as revealed in the Scriptures.
3. Forgiveness and the Proclamation of the Gospel: John 20:23 does not seem to fit either of the two previous cases. Yes, Jesus is addressing the disciples, but they stand in the text as representatives of the church(es). Through them Jesus is instructing the church.
First, we must examine the context. After the Resurrection Jesus appears to the disciples, greets them, and says, "As the Father has sent me, I am sending you" (John 20:27). Then He gives them the Holy Spirit. Jesus is commissioning the disciples, incorporating them into the mission the Father entrusted to Him. They are empowered through the Spirit: "If they forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven" (verse 23). They are to go out to the world and forgive or not forgive sins.
Second, there is nothing in the text to suggest that Jesus is instituting the ecclesiastical practice of auricular confession, or the absolution of postbaptismal sins by a church officer. Those are later developments in the life of the postapostolic church[\b] and should not be read into this text.
Third, John knows that when we confess our sins to God they are forgiven through Christ (1 John 1:9). Christ continues to be our atoning sacrifice before the Father, and the forgiving power of His sacrifice is not temporally limited in any way (1 John 2:1, 2; 4:10).
Finally, since Christ's command to the disciples is in fact the evangelical commission, we can use other biblical passages dealing with that commission to interpret John 20:23. In other words, clearer passages should be used in order to understand a difficult one better. In this case Luke 24:47 is useful.
After His resurrection Christ appeared to the disciples and said to them: "Repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." The disciples and the church forgive sins in the sense that they confront humanity with the gospel of judgment and salvation (John 3:16; 12:31). Individuals react to that proclamation, and the church decides who is to join it and who is not to join it.
In other words, the authority bestowed on the church by Christ—to forgive or not to forgive—is the authority to preach the gospel and to decide who can or cannot be baptized. It is a tremendous responsibility that should not be taken lightly.
*Bible texts in this article are quoted from the New International Version.
you should ask your op how she figured out the bold cos it's a lie.

secondly do you know after the commandments were given, Solomon temple had images of angels and other earthly beings
"Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and every one who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live." So Moses made a bronze serpent... Numbers 21:8-9

Q5: Does Mary have other Children?
Mary had no other children apart from Jesus. If Mary had other children, Jesus would not have asked the disciple to take Mary home and care for her if not, other children of hers would have been able to do that. Would it not be a slap on the faces of other children that an outsider would take their mother home to take care when they are still alive? Also, Lk 2:41-49 tells us how Jesus was forgotten in the temple by his parents and later found him in the temple preaching after searching for him for 3 days. "Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. 42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to the festival, according to the custom. 43 After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. 44 Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. 45 When they did not find

mary had children
matt13:55-56
is this not the carpenter's son?... and his brethren, James, and joses, and Simon and Judas?
and his sisters are they not all with us...
it is very evident in this chapter that she had children
MARY is not a virgin the Bible says that clearly in Matt1:25
except you refuse to acknowledge the truth and blindly follow religion. if you look deep into this religion's history it was founded to mould with pagan worship.

Q1 You have answered it yourself that making an image is not wrong but worshiping it is. When u put image of Mary in your corner of the room and bow before it, pray before it with your rosary, what is that?
Read John 4:24, 1Corinthians10:14; 2Corinthians 5:7; 1John 5:21; Psalms 115:4-8
No record of the apostles or Jesus himself using image of Mary and bowing before it.
Remember in Revelation 19:10 when John wanted to bow before an angel d angel stopped him at once.

Q2. The Apocrypha: It is very important to examine some points as there are overwhelming evidences against the Apocrypha
a. The Jews never recognized the books. In the words of famous Jewish historian " Our books are those of which were accredited are but two and twenty (22)"- Against Apion I pages,38,41
The groupings of d 22 books are stated below:
The Law
1.Genesis 2.Exodus 3.Leviticus 4.Numbers 5.Deuteronomy
The Prophets
6.Joshua 7.Judges & Ruth 8.1st & 2nd Samuel 9.1st &2nd Kings 10. Isaiah 11. Jeremiah & Lamentation 12.Ezekiel
13.The Twelve prophets (Hosea,Joel,Amos,Obadiah,Jonah,Micah,Nahum,Habakkuk,Zepheniah,Haggai,Zechariah,Malachi)
The Writings (Hagiographa)
14.Psalms 15.Proverbs 16.Job 17.Song of Solomon 18.Ezra & Nehemiah 19. 1st & 2nd Chronicles 20.Ecclesiastes 21.Daniel 22.Esther
At the Jewish Council of Jamnia in about 90CE, these Apocrypha book were never included .It is very important to take the stand of the Jews into consideration because of what Paul said in Romans 3:2(Please read). Also, read Ezra 7:1-11. Note thate the Jews are custodian of the word of God.
Also the closing of the Hebrew canon was in the 5th century following the writings of Malachi whereas d Apocryphal books were written many centuries after. No wonder the Jews never recognized them
Another reason never to believe the Apocryphal books is because Jesus and his apostles never for once quoted from these book unlike other books of the original Hebrew canon. Here are few examples
Matthew 4:4 ---- Deuteronomy 8:3
Matthew 4:7 ---- Deuteronomy 6:16
Matthew 4:10 ---- Deuteronomy 10:20
Luke 4:17-21 ---- Isaiah 61:1
Acts 2:3-35 ----- Psalms 110:1
Acts 2:17-21 ---- Joel 2:28,29
Acts 2:31 ---- Psalms 16:10
Romans 10:13 ---- Joel 2:32

Another point is that d Apocrypha books are full of myth and contains statements that contradicts other Bible verses. Here are few examples.
1.Judith1:1,7 calls Nebuchadnezzar d king of Assyria where he is the king of Babylon as the following verses confirm Daniel1:1; 2 Kings 24:1,10,11; 2 Chronicles 36:6;

2. Baruch 6:2 said the Jews wud be exiled in Babylon for 7 generations whereas in Jeremiah 25:11,12; Jeremiah 29:10 it said 70 years whereas 7 generations is more than 70 years

Q4 Jesus never showed any special consideration to Mary. Recall his statments in John 2:1-4; John 19:26. He even rebuked a woman for trying to make Mary so special Luke 11:27,28;. No record of the apostles giving Mary worshipful honour. Even Mary herself viewed herself as a mere slave girl. Luke 1:38

Q5. Mary had other children. It is logical to think so cos she was married to Joseph and obviously had sex repeatedly with Joseph her husband and had kids. Read Matthew 13:55,56; Luke 8:19-21; John 7:5

In addition the intercession by saints is wrong. Our only intercessor is Jesus as 2Timothy2:5,6, Hebrews 4:15; Hebrews 5:1 shows. We dont pray to saint but only to Jehovah the only hearer of prayers Psalms 65:2. Rather than pray for saints to intercede for us they even need out prayers. Read Ephesians 6:18
Also no way an imperfect human can intercede for us as all has sinned and fallen short of God's glory
If u are Catholic please examine the Bible closely and u will see the falsehood promoted by the Catholic church which is never d first church but the beginning of deviatiom from true christianity as handed down to us through the apostles Acts 20:28,29. Revelation 18:4 says we should flee from fals religion and that is what the Catholic church is. Any reliogion that promites lies serves the purpose of the Devil which is blind people from the truth of God's word
John 8:32,44; 2 Corinthians 4:4
Catholics represent the Devil's plan to mislead people. Please flee from it before it is too late. U can also examine the dirty history of the Catholic church filled with blood guilt as they took part in the murderous Spanish Inquisition, sought to suppress the translation of the Bible into other langauges by killing translators like William Tyndale whom they burnt to death. Also the indulgenced of the popes who mixed politics with religion and were responsible for the murderous wars if the past and even in our modern history.
For example it was in Rwanda a Cstgolic dominated country that then murderous genocide took place where Catholic Hutus slaughtered Catholic Tutsis

Genesis 28:18  "Jacob got up early next morning, took the stone that was under his head, and set it up as a memorial. Then he poured olive oil on it to dedicate it to God"
was that idolatory after all subsequent prayers s to God will be offered to God through the stone he dedicated and erected... read well before arguing
wait o....Leviticus 19:27 asked us not to round the corners of our hairs which translates to NO SHAPING OF OUR HAIRS WHEN WE CUT IT...How many "protestants" abide with it? Yet una dey say we no read Bible. Judges of God weldone
What right have you to judge someone else?
same Protestants abused our holy communion as not biblical yet they have copied...same thing confession...haba!
Let God judge

then why was Moses asked to make the graven serpent while the Israelites were in the desert.?? is God mixing things up?
secondly do you know after the commandments were given, Solomon temple had images of angels and other earthly beings
"Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and every one who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live." So Moses made a bronze serpent... Numbers 21:8-9

“You shall make two cherubim of gold; you shall make them of hammered work, at the two ends of the mercy seat. Make one cherub at the one end, and one cherub at the other; of one piece with the mercy seat you shall make the cherubim at its two ends. The cherubim shall spread out their wings above, overshadowing the mercy seat with their wings. They shall face one to another; the faces of the cherubim shall be turned toward the mercy seat.”(Exodus 25:18-20, NRSV)

it was a sign of what was to come, how Jesus would be hanged on the cross and all who needed salvation would look up to him.

Even in the course of making your voice heard, you result in using abusive words, who is fooling who? let's always tackle our personal problems (hatred and wickedness)first before removing the peck on another persons eye(church)after all we are still talking and believing in one God which is full of LOVE..#myhumbleopinion, #happysundayall,#youcantgivewhatyoudonthave

One thing about most of you Protestants is that you result to insult when you don't have a superior augment.

I may not be that strong a xtian but the catholic philosophy sounds the most logical and reasonable.

Then the statement 'all I know sha' smiley
This s usually said after catholics defeats the protestants in an argument.

It is even more pitiable you seem to imply that true christianity began in the 16th century. No wonder you are not aware you believe a modern day heresy. The Bible did prophesy delusion

More pitiable is he who thinks in his head that the true Church was ever a part of the Synagogue of Satan. What delusion can be greater than this?

Anyway, for those who don't even know when the New Testament Church was birthed, silly assumptions can't be ruled out.

The 24 elders are humans? Really? Please tell me who they are and please use biblical backing.

The 24 elders are definitely not angels, nor are they Jesus or the Holy Spirit..

So what could they be?

the word elder comes from the Greek word " presbyteroi".. this word is used about 67 times in the new testament and in every case, representing a "HUMAN MAN" Just do a word search on your Bible or internet, I don't have the patience to go through all of them with you...

Some apostles like Peter and John called themselves elders see 1 Peter 5:1, 2 john 1:1, 3 john 1:1,

Elders were part of the early church see acts 11:30, 14:23, 15:2, 15:4, 15:6, 15:22-23, 16:4, 20:17, 21:18,

PAUL said that the Elders laying hands on people could pass power to them.. see 1 Tim 4:14..

Paul also says that double honor should be given to the elders who rule 1 Tim 5:17..

Paul tells Timothy and Titus to appoint elders see Titus 1:5, 2 Tim 2:2,

THE POINT IS, IN ALL THESE INSTANCES ELDERS ARE HUMAN BEINGS, BY DEDUCTION, ELDERS IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION SHOULD REPRESENT HUMANS NO MATTER THE LITERARY GENRE REVELATION WAS WRITTEN IN, IT HAS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH THE REST OF THE BIBLE USAGE OF THE WORD
