However, the Benin people got franchise for preserving their culture and traditions, with the Oba seen like a demigod.

Lol, I didn't even notice the little details. I don't expect them to be wearing their traditional garb. Nigerians usually do 2 weddings, the traditional one and the Western one. Is this true for Kenya as well? I'm sure Kenya has old pre-western Marriage rites.

The main ethnic groups are Edo, Esan, Etsako, Urhobo, Isoko, Afenmai(numerous groups), etc. The Edo were the founder of the Benin empire from the 12th century to 1897 when it was destroyed by the British.

Most Edoid people live in Edo state and some are found in the neighboring Delta state etc.

The Oba is the king of the Benin empire. The crown is preserved till today. Yeah Benin empire was looted by the British. Benin city was burned to the ground by the British and their artifacts were looted and sold to private collectors and some to museums in Europe and Americas. Till today, most have not been recovered.

Its funny because I was expecting the Benin empire to have been made by the big ethnic tribes in Nigeria today. They had great skills of art making, like our local Kamba people. The Oba from time immemorial has been the chief custodian of the Benin Kingdom, the Benin is an adulteration of bini by the Portuguese, the bini kings are the rulers of the Benin/edo people, I think the bini word came in place before edo, edo was used as a unifying factor, for what constitutes edo state today, apart from the 18 local governments with edoid groups of igbanke, Esean, akoko edo, etc, there are others of Isoko, urhobo in delta state, and even others in ondo, while the influence reached lagos, some part of Anambra, there is much Interconnection between bini and the yorubas too

Yeah, tourists like them to decorate their houses and the Kamba and Maasai curio shops do great business with them. It is hard for tourists not to buy them as they head back home. The swahilis also have great artworks. The art cannot die here so long as there is tourism.
