The world's first robocop has been unveiled in Dubai and will be patrolling streets from tomorrow onward.

The 5 ft 5in tall robot can read facial expressions and will be used by members of the public to report crime and pay traffic fines.

Multi-lingual crime-fighting robots will make up a quarter of the city's police force by 2030, according to officials.

The robocop is part of the Emirates' planned robot police force and was unveiled at a three-day long Gulf Information Security and Expo Conference on Sunday.
The conference finishes tomorrow at which point the robocop will be released onto Dubai streets to tackle real crime.
'The launch of the world's first operational Robocop is a significant milestone for the Emirate and a step towards realising Dubai's vision to be a global leader in smart cities technology adoption', said Brigadier-General Khalid Nasser Al Razzouqi, Director-General of Smart Services for the police in Dubai.
'With an aim to assist and help people in the malls or on the streets, the Robocop is the latest smart addition to the force and has been designed to help us fight crime, keep the city safe and improve happiness levels', he said.
The announcement about plans for a robot police force was made at the 11 Best Police Practices Forum held in Dubai in March.

Good, Nigeria should send a team of professionals in different fields to the UAE - Dubai , the team should go and learn what makes things work in that part of the world, the team should be on ground for a minimum of 6 months and they should bring a comprehensive report back to the National Assembly , tinker with their findings and implement it, another set of professionals should be sent to Malaysia, Singapore, Hongkong, Western Europe, America and Oceania, all with the same mindset, because it seems with all the useless policies we keep churning out as a nation after independence is stagnating the country, why not go and learn what others are doing that makes them succeed, apply some of it and move the country forward instead of all this jankara economic policies that is obsolete, archaic and not working,Albert Einstein says and l quote >> Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different result sad

Put a gun in the hands of those things, and all Russia need is to hack into the robot technology the way they did to US election and Dubai will be history undecided

I hope it doesn't get hacked and manipulated by my fellow bad ass hackers. grin grin grin grin grin

This stuff is not really as hard to produce as some folks think. All you basically "need" is a good programmer. The program is the main issue in any robot. The hardware components can be easily sourced and assembled by good mechanical and electrical engineers.

That thing even looks silly and awkward physically. C'mon, they can draft a design that looks better and more appealing than that shiit.
