The Department of State Security, DSS on Tuesday said that the decision of Mr. Ifeany Uba, the Managing Director of Capital Oil Ltd to divert eleven million liters of premium motor spirit left in the tank farm of capital oil by Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, worth about N11bn was capable of plunging the country into economic crisis.

This the agency said the action amounts to economic sabotage and is, therefore, punishable by death.

The DSS position was contained in a counter-affidavit and written submissions filed by the DSS in opposition to an application by Ubah, asking a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Jabi, Abuja to set aside an order for his detention for 14 days...

Which elite southerner has been convicted?.... We need to stop this nonsense clannish based defense of everyone. Everything today in Nigeria is now viewed and interpreted from a tribal lense even in the most ridiculous circumstances. We keep making a mockery of ourselves with this paranoid victim mentality.

Last time I checked, Uba isnt the only person involved in this case and others involved have been harassed by the same dss and forced to return huge sums. Now Uba is being asked to return his part and suddenly, it's now a case of 'it is because he is Igbo.' Oga Ifeanyi has a huge financial chest and can afford the best legal teams in the world to defend him, he doesn't need this nonsense 'it is because I am Igbo' based defense.

DSS filed an affidavit in response to the bail application made by the accused suggesting to the court that the offence is not bailable. So how is the defence amount to an accuser and a Judge? So because he is an Ibo man, DSS should not have filed a defence. Hmmm.

these false narratives are just to insult the intelligence of Nigerians! How can you claim that a pure business dispute is punishable by death? Which law in Nigeria backs that claim? If murder still has a leaner punishment, why would the government be doing everything illegal to detain and spoil the person of Dr. Ubah? What happened to peaceful resolution of disputes? Why would they claim that the act by Capital Oil & Gas industry is an attempt to cause product scarcity when the products were sold right here in Nigeria and to Nigerians?
Did Ubah commit a treasonable felony? Please the DSS owes it to Nigerians to prove the reason behind this death punishment they are talking about.
What exactly is the meaning of sabotage from the DSS angle as they claimed that Dr. Ubah is committing sabotage by inciting the tanker drivers and when that claim was refuted, they turned around to claim that the sale of the PMS products is a sabotage! Such inconsistency by an agent of the government that should know better about precision and intelligent investigation is laughable. What a sham of a country.

How is bridge of contract punishable by death? Ifeanyi Ubah has saved this Nation several time from economic collapse even going against the will of the union of petroleum marketers, this same person the DSS is accusing of trying to cause scarcity. The product in question did he drinkit or did he use it to fuel his car? He sold it to same Nigerian public. How the is Ifeanyi Ubah Capital oil trying to cause scarcity when the puduct was available to the public?
DSS please refrain from this baseless propaganda. Ifeanyi Ubah is saving Nigerian Government from petroleum cabals who want to strangulate this Nation for their personal gains. Ifeanyi Ubah derives joy in helping and saving Nigeria at all time.
They tried to rope Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah into Dasukigate, they found nothing. They searched for TAN's involvement, they found nothing. They now want to give his transaction a bad, a sort of payback for the waves TAN made. If this commercial dispute is punishable by death, what becomes of those that were involved in crude swap without delivering petroleum product or remitting the money for over 3 years

One can rightful justified DSS actions as rule of law been a myth in Nigeria.

@NNPCgroup is interested in #11 billion Capital Oil and agas owes her, but was never interested in the #16 billion they owes @Capital Oil and Gas?

Can we now do the minus to know who is owing who?

NNPC, DSS and Federal Government should stop this undemocratic act.

please tell me how you would agree to pay back what you owe to someone that is owing you more? NNPC owes him N16 billion for over 2 years but no one heard about it. Capital Oil & Gas still continued to do business with NNPC believing that NNPC will pay. nobody sued NNPC to the ECOWAS court or dragged NNPC's management.

They now want to give his transaction a bad, a sort of payback for the waves TAN made. If this commercial dispute is punishable by death, what becomes of those that were involved in crude swap without delivering petroleum product or remitting the money for over 3 years of loading Capital Oil's crude oil.

What of those that stole crude? In their first press release and in the lagos court, they said Dr. Ubah was inciting tanker drivers which translates to economic sabotage in their thinking.

When they could not substantiate their claim with any proof, they subsequently changed gear to allege that Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah was trying to cause scarcity by distributing petroleum products and hence, a capital crime punishable by death.

How senseless. The question is did Capital sell the peoduct in Cotonou or Mali? Was it sold to animals or Nigerians? Who is by this act insigating scarcity? Dr. Ubah or NNPC ?.

This same Capital Oil that has been rescuing NNPC when they lacked product. This same company has frequently rescued the country in petroleum crises and during strike actions. Did NNPC inform DSS that they have been borrowing product also from Capital Oil on more than 3 ocassions this year.

Will they also be condemned to death for borrowing product from a private citizen to support thier inefficiency or incompetence. Nigerians should expect more expose as there is ample evidence to show that Capital Oil borrowed NNPC petroleum products to cover their inefficiencies

It has now become a tradition that DSS is coming with media trials and image damage/character assassination. It is a sad commentary considering that these persons are only accused for crimes they never committed and are being detained for a prolonged period than permitted by law. We condemn a situation where people are detained illegally.

And I ask, are DSS not subjected to principles of rule of law?

The rule of law is the legal principle that law should govern a nation. But, with the current DSS act of intimidation it has shwon there's no law.

Now, how could you arrest a man and incarcerate him using Federal power?

NNPC owes Capital Oil and Gas over 16billion naira. All through the years, NNPC forgot heeding the call for round table discussion so business dispute e should be discussed and solved. Suddenly, NNPC employed DSS to come and collect debt.

Is DSS now debt collector?

Hence why I said he should be allowed to defend himself and negotiate his way out instead of the needless 'tribal based' defence many people keep coming up with online. Uba has a bottomless financial chest with which he can hire any calibre of lawyers to negotiate his case. My comment was only calling out those who kept saying meaningless things like "he's being persecuted because of his tribe."

This is a stupid press release i must say. Since when did the purnishment for bridging of a buisness contract now become death sentence. And did DSS forget that NNPC owes Dr ubah 16b too or is it because NNPC is ownd by the FG so they have decided not to pay their own dept but to intimade Dr Ubah. What do they mean by selling d pms could would have led to scacity. Was it not withing Nigerians that the PMS was sold abi did he drink it. All i see here is tyranny in d part of DSS. And shame on our so called democracy. Where so called security agencies intimidate citizens for no reason.

So far , it's now obvious that Dss is the gestapo arm of this despotic government after their blunt refusals on several occasions to produce Ifeanyi Uba in the court.

What right does DSS have to interfere in a commercial/business transactions
