Zeng: Hmmmm..... I get you and some do include there research area and publication in there resume if you can get that but it's not compulsory to have a research topic, I believe it will simply boost someone's chance a bit in front of VO. Best of luck. |

I deduce you intention isn't for personal interest but its far better here so anyone new to the thread can benefit info shared 3,4years back... 22 Likes 1 Share |

sirelawrence: 1. A lot of pain, sweat and tears go into maintaining a forum like Nairaland, that it would be ungrateful to start a 'group' off here that mean people would essentially leave Nairaland for the Whatsapp group. So much hustling goes behind the scenes, that we have to do all we can to take Nairaland to that first Nigerian $1 bn start up! 2. There really is no 'keeping in touch' that you can do on whatsapp that can't be done here; if you're scared of connecting on the thread, that's why you've PMs. 3. If people have been forming whatsapp groups as soon as they get admitted and travel, we wouldn't be here today, would we? 4. I'd rather support Nairaland - proudly Nigerian, than Whatsapp (owned by a foreigner). If we don't do it, who will?? So no, let's stay here! 27 Likes |

sirelawrence:In addition to what others have said ,Just one question for you, 1) If people from 10years, 8years,6years ago etc formed this type of group you suggested, will there be a platform like this to bless you in the first place, In summary, no whatapp group will be more effective than this Family. FORGET THE IDEA. They say the internet remembers, its easy for generation after us to make reference to this thread and still be blessed just like you said unlike a whatapp group that cant be accessed through a simple google search. P.S delete your number from that post if you don't want scammers to start disturbing you 9 Likes |

Its very dissapointing what many people do in this thread! After getting their visa approved through the information here. They just simply take off to the united states and forget to post transcript or even come online to assist future student. Please dont be selfish. If your visa is approved post transcripts and assist other because someone also assisted u in d forum. 3 Likes |

VO, Good morning, I have admission offer to study a year course at a Bible Institute and College in New York. This came with institutional financial aid award, which have been secured. part of the tuition fee has been paid. I am about to return my sponsor form, and its my father and his church (he is a clergyman here in Nigeria, also an alumni of the school) that are stated as sponsor. what are the documents I will be expected to present at the embassy? (especially concerning my sponsor). I am 32, single, employed, and can foot the school bill on my own. will any of this my status negatively affect my chance of getting the Visa? your response and recommendations will be appreciated, as I don't want miss this one through avoidable mistakes. thanks. |

segunojo866: There was cecemat shouting up and down here tagging my moniker unnecessary because i dont do transcript ..... as if anyone sucess in Visa lies in my hand and not in their ability and God... beside if one doesnt do one thing no biggie reach out to others . If my hands are full i cant take more than my power as transcript review takes time plus my life basket . Regarding transcript self , you have more than enough here so even if you dont see anyone to review that fine too After he has gotten his visa. How much has he contributed to help others regularly with all the noise made ..... na so .. kontinue Not everyone can come and give back regularly because life gets busy. So kudos to anyone who does but its not a right neither should anyone be "entitled". It voluntary so if they help fine if they don't have the time thats fine too...... Just work with what you have here. It more than enough 11 Likes |

segunojo866:Well you might have a point but then I don't think selfish is the right word to use, additionally we all have different battles and struggles. Schooling abroad is not as easy as we used to think it was, people are busy and you cant blame them if they don't come here to help. People coming here to help out, do this because this place is like a family and they are attached even though it is a forum where you barely know anyone in real life. For me, even when I am busy, I still find time to read nairaland because I have been so attached/addicted and no info is irrelevant. We all learn everyday. So in summary, nobody owes anybody, life is a phase. The days of bigfranc, imperiox drdolittle, kpollii, ojapp etc have passed, ours will soon pass and the onus will rest on people after us to keep the thread alive, you don't expect to keep seeing same set of people here forever 10 Likes |

Zeng: 1.. SEVIS cannot be paid by credit card for a Nigerian student. It has to be Western union or certified cheque. The link below provides you more information on how your sponsor can pay https://studyinthestates.dhs.gov/paying-your-i-901-sevis-fee 2. I dont know for sure but the better the school i would say its better for your profile..... weak areas i cant say but prepare to answer questions such as of all the schools in america why that school and other frequently asked questions |

Walspring:Sorry for the troubles. I'm not used to the PM messaging. On discovering it goes directly into the email, I had to change my email to the current one, after I discovered I wasn't getting a reply and you probably would have sent one. I check my 2 mails and all their folders at least three times daily. Kindly reply the third PM. The earlier ones were sent to my obsolete email. Thank you. |
