the problem i have with nigerians is the tyranny of public opinion. yes the igbos didnt vote for him and are at liberty to keep quite or shout to the heavens, na dem get their mouth. but come to think of it must everybody vote a candidate? but can ngige truly point to what this govt has done for those who invested in them. What benefit is there in his community to show that this govt is good to them? is the cost living better for those who voted for GMB? Infact those who didnt vote GMB have every cause to celebrate, they are not part of those who brought the calamity being experienced politics is choice and nobody sud lose sleep over another persons choice 3 Likes |

[quote author=ayindejimmy post=56868647] Do you think if Hillary had won Obamacare will suffer same fate it's suffering? You putting words in my mouth. I didn't say "settle his voters" Obviously, what Trump is doing with Obamacare and the Executive Order he gave was in tandem with his campaign promises. Don't tell me majority of Americans that voted against Trump are at part with abolishing Obamacare and Trump's Executive Order on Immigration I'll advise you get enlightened, the world IS a global village. [/quote Obamacare is a question of ideals, not necessarily voters. You are juxtaposing your backward Nigerian politics on american system. He is not against obamacare because some people don't want it. He is against it because his ideals does not tally with obamacare. That is what america politics is- a battle of ideals. If you don't want obamacare removed, you already know before the elections that trump is not the man for you and you already know who to vote for. Besides, the removal of obamacare is targeted towards all americans. Not some specific favourable regions like the $1.6billion train project in Nigeria. Such cannot happen in america where the president allocates more federal funding for critical infrastructures to states or regions because they voted for him. He IS NOT A CONGRESSMAN OR SENATOR, HE IS PRESIDENT. 3 Likes |

I had wanted to say that Ngige had a wrongful perspective to his view of politics even though some element of it was that u need to apply diplomacy in managing ur" enemies" in politics but when i saw this post from 2011, i now know that people are of short, very short memory and selfish Yoruba Marginalization: Elders Met Jonathan To Complain - SMH by Sunofgod(m): 8:47am On Aug 27, 2011 Yoruba Elders Meet Jonathan To Complain About Marginalisation - Smh Written by Leon Usigbe, Abuja Friday, 26 August 2011 PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan met with a delegation of the Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), led by Major-General Adeyinka Adebayo (retd), in the State House, on Thursday, as the leaders complained about being left out in the top six posts in the country. The delegation also demanded for the dissolution of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), which they observed had been unable to fulfill the objectives of its establishment, while also asking for action of the deplorable roads in the South-West. But responding to their requests, President Jonathan said he was concerned about adherence to the principle of federal character and the zoning formula adopted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and he had tried to ensure that no section of the country was left out in the scheme of things by accommodating them in the subsequent appointments he had made. According to him, “the issue of federal character and position, especially those political offices, were quite worrisome to me, but we had to achieve political balancing and federal character. “That is why this thing you describe as zoning was to make sure that every zone should be represented in the one you describe as top six, but for some political reasons, it was not possible. But on my own, in terms of appointments, I tried to see that the way appointment was made, you will agree with me that the appointments we have made so far did not exclude any section.” He promised that he would not preside over a government that would margninalise any section of the country. Jonathan lauded the role of Yoruba elders in the 2011 presidential election, which enabled the PDP to win in the South-West saying that the success was made possible because of the leadership. On the request for the dissolution of the NDDC, Jonathan said though there were many complaints about the commission, it could not be dissolved because it was made up of management and staff. Jonathan restated his commitment to ensure that things were done differently in the country, adding that corrupt officials would no longer be allowed to go scot free, while outstanding performers would be rewarded. http://www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/27267-yoruba-elders-meet-jonathan-over-marginalisation (Quote) (Report) (Like) (Share) Re: Yoruba Marginalization: Elders Met Jonathan To Complain - SMH by Sunofgod(m): 9:03am On Aug 27, 2011 GEJ should have just chased them out of the room. It worries me when people that know better but rather because of crumbs choose to twist the tenet and intent of democracy. Democracy is not about who vote for who but who emerges to champion the very essence of democracy. Nigeria is where she is today because of undemocratic utterances of the so-called leaders who give democracy a different meaning. |

Ngokafor: Do we have the same culture with Americans? Is America the foundation of democracy? American youths lack respect, are violent and the law encourages same sex marriage. Sadly, those are values we don't embrace in our culture... It may be imitated by some renegade Nigerians living there, but you dare not bring it home. So every country will design democracy to fit the manner of people in that country. After all, the people deserve the kinds of leaders they get. When Nigerians decide to act right, we'll get good democracy, and unfortunately, along with it will come other vices 1 Like |
