These ppl hv no definite talents to offer d country, they rub shoulders simply because they are rich! It doesn't matter how u made ur money in naija, once u hv d money all d leaders automatically become ur mates. Its such a shame that ppl with real and special talents are being ignored and abandoned in destitution! |

Beautiful regalia, handsome men of warri. At the end of the day, did they agree what was best for warri or what was best for their pockets. Let the people know whom and what you at fighting for. Hold your state governments and local governments very accountable too. Waaa doo. |

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THINKS THE IJAWS ARE AGITATING FOR RESOURCE CONTROL IN THE NIGER-DELTA REGION, THAT IS A BIG LIE FROM THE PIT OF HELL. THEY HAVE USED THEIR MILITANCY AND OPPRESSIVE CHARACTER TO DIVERT THE RESOURCE CONTROL TO AN IJAW STRUGGLE. ITS HIGH TIME OTHER TRIBES AND ETHNIC GROUPS IN THE SOUTH-SOUTH AND NIGER-DELTA STAND UP TO PUT AN END THE CALLOUS WAYS OF THE IJAWS. THEY SEE AND PRIDE THEIR SELVES AS OWNERS AND RULERS OF THE REGION THEREBY RELEGATING OTHERS TO THE BACKGROUND WHEN IT COMES TO THE RESOURCE CONTROL STRUGGLE. 2 Likes |

KingOvoramwen1: SHUT UP.... the costume is not entirely from Benin. Agreed, this very beaded crown has benin roots, but the clothing of the king is entirely Portuguese. Right from the reign of Sebastiao Dom Domingos, the first ever European educated PRince to become King in Africa, the Warri monarch has been wearing that silver crown, a gift from King Joao of Portugal to the itsekiri prince who was crowned Ogiame Atuwatse I in 1625 FYI, Prince Ginuwa was hated by the Benin palace chiefs, and his father Oba Olua, was worried that after his passing, Ginuwa would be murdered by his chiefs, so while he was still alive, he coordinated his (Ginuwa's) soft banishment to a coastal area where he can live the rest of his live in peace. He sent with him some slaves to help him settle when he gets to his final destination. When he arrived at the Itsekiri enclave, he was welcomed warmly, and they saw princely things with him, so they concluded he must be a king coming from the sea... since they didn't know his origin... hence the title the Olu of Warri bears today.. Ogie-Ame, meaning King of the Sea... corrupted to Ogiame Also, before some Afonja starts claiming he is Yoruba, the name Olu, is a corrupted version of Olua. Olua was Prince Ginuwa's father.. so the title represented as Olua of Warri, which over time was corrupted to Olu. So get the facts rights and stop distorting history here. I have benin roots, but Oba Olua did not sent his son to rule over anyone. He sent him to find safety. And because Ginuwa's was destined to be king, providence made the Itsekiris, crown him as king...they were charmed by his princely attributes and they made him king, he didn't ask for it. This is why in Benin there is an adage that, "the head that is destined to be crowned cannot be stopped by any evil force" 2 Likes 1 Share |
