@enque, mashed food is the one you use fork or spoon to mash. Puree is done with either hand blender or normal blender. |

Please what can I do to make my n*ipple come out , I mean out oooo....... So that my baby can grab something. If I put the n*ipple in his mouth, it just slip off and he start to cry. My breast is really heavy and today I tried to express it in a cup, it came out. U can get d oldskool breastpump(pixs attached), and keep pumping and always put ur baby to it, d nipple will def come out. 1 Like

Pls don't read and pass! Just this morning my DD refused to suckle, I had to express to give her with bottle she didn't gree and went on to use cup and spoon and she managed to finish it and since today she can't latch on...She is hungry, she grabs the breast and bottle but can't suck it. She is healthy, no symptoms whatever.I spoke with a paed and she asked me to watch closely for symptoms. |

Yesitsme: That's unusual, cos that latching is an involuntary reflex, they aren't taught.... It comes naturally the moment they are born and I remember when Moyo was born the Dr put him to my breast the moment we were wheeled out and he grabbed it straight which he noted in our folder. Temper might make them not latch right. If she's angry or agitated she might not be able to latch on which will increase her agitation. Try to feed her before she requests for it. Maybe you should start timing her feeding now. Say every hour and let's see how it works. She might also feel sore in the mouth. Check her mouth for any soreness, swollenness or redness. Check the roof of the mouth too. Talltosyne, there should be ideally 14days from ovulation to next period (2ww) to give optimum time for the possibility of implantation and pregnancy. You might want to see a gynecologist if this persists. Enque, no mind oyinbo jare. Mashed is coarse, pureed is fine. I mash bananas with hand or this small food blender and puree looks like smoothie, only thicker. Rhemy, I'm not too good with skin issues. Let other mamas that have battled such give you first hand experience.

temmytee1: The key is moderation. The acidity causes diaper rash which may also be as a result of some other thing. My kids take orange from when they can, I can't say I noticed any adverse effects sha. But then again, I give them just a little. Half a small sized cup. Moyo from 6m Atinuke from 6w. Thanks for the insight. Queensnow. 1 Like 1 Share |

Yesitsme: It could be throat infection. She is a baby, I would have advised to use a torch to check if her tonsil is inflamed |

Immediately after extracting and d nipple is out abit put ur baby to latch on it, ( let him try and feed from d breast not d bottle at least till d nipple is out). Persistense is d key. Cc: ftmum |

hotmomma: well, what i do is pour the grains separately in a sieve to make sure the sand is filtered out. then i take my time picking the grains, like am picking beans. i.e put little by little in your palm, pick out dirts and stones and put in another bowl. ( the guniea corn will be the hardest cos it's really tiny). after picking and sieving, before frying. time consuming, but totally worth it. pls don't wash the ingredients. except u will wait for it to be really dry again |

ftmum: That's progress, just keep doing it, don't stop, it will eventually come out, as a mama suggested above, when u notice the nipple is out, just put your baby to breast to suckle, let her enjoy and also feel your warmth. As a ftm, keep the questions coming, experienced mamas are here to help u. We learn everyday. 1 Like |

@enque for the tombrown preparation mix like say 2 table spoon of Tom Brown powder with small quantity of water in a small container or cup put small quantity of water in ur small pot and allow to boil. lower the fire so that it will be low heat this will prevent from rising unnecessarily which can make it to have lumps if care is not taken. add that already mixed Tom Brown to d water on fire and stir allow to cook for like 3 to 5 min note: u can't store it inside flask like the normal pap I add formula to mine before giving lo... |
