..Say Nigeria can still be one
..Ask IPOB to reconsider sit-at-home order

By Peter Okutu

After many weeks of speculations and castigation against the alleged silence of the South East Governors’ Forum concerning the agitation for Biafran state as well as the release of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, the forum, Friday broke its silence about the agitation and other sundry issues surrounding Biafra.

In a statement issued in Abakaliki, the Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi called for calm and wisdom in the ongoing agitation for Biafran state, adding that Nigeria could still be one.

Governor Umahi, contrary to allegation that the Governors’  Forum did not play any role towards the release of Nnamdi Kanu disclosed that the South East Governors made various moves and met with relevant authorities to secure the release of the IPOB leader.

He called for caution on the planned sit at home by the IPOB, saying “the South East governors are fully aware of the saturation of various information with the call by the leaders of movements known as IPOB agitation for secession from the Federal Republic of Nigeria and formation of Sovereign state of Biafra. It would be a tragic dereliction of our collective responsibility as leaders, if we fail to take a clear and definitive stand at this potentially explosive movement in history of Ndigbo.”

He said the forum was not unaware or unmindful of the historical and contemporary issues that have served as incitement and stimulation for the apparent crisis in the  Nigerian system by the Igbo

youths and appealed to members of IPOB and other groups to stop actions that might plunge the zone into irredeemable crisis.

Governor Umahi further disclosed that South East zone cannot afford to take action that will do nothing but retard progress of the zone. He also called on all security agencies in the zone to liaise with the South East Governors’ Forum and South South to find amicable resolution to the matter and maintained that 30th May will come and like any other day people should conduct themselves in a peaceful manner.

Look like South East governors still want to be one Nigeria. Who is supposed to call this referendum if not them or SE members of NASS? It's good they are trying to make sure May 30th is peaceful day.

SE governor’s should declare the day a state holiday. This is good sign of solidarity. Nigerians declare holidays all the time. At least this one has purpose we can agree on.

One voice and unity can lead to the actualization of a goal. The house is divided and can't stand. It is still a mirage!

Whether they caution or not its their business. but i believe that they are really feeling the heat and too ashamed to meet Nnamdi Kanu.

What Nnamdi Kanu is cooking for them come 2019 will finish them up, hope they will try to tell the SE people another story to vote them in.

I think IPOB is waiting for Obiano cum Nov 2017.

Lets watch and see.

South east is one of the most divided zones in Nigeria but they pretend to be one. Their political class like national cake like Esau liked Jacob's porridge and exchanged it for his birth right.

Even if these misgovernors can't openly support the biafra agitation for obvious reasons, can't they mount pressure on this insensitive and inept FG to either restructure Nigeria or allow Ndi Igbo to go for a referendum if they want to remain in Nigeria or not.

The political class in the north did not hide their feelings against Jonathan and neither did most westerners against Abacha and some westerners against Jonathan. Why is it difficult for only one or two of these betrayals parading themselves as Igbo political leaders to produce key opposition figures in the class of Peteru Ayodele omo Fayose whose voice makes Aso Rock's foundation quiver under Buhari's feet?

I have said it before and will say it over and over again: Igbo's worst enemies are the Igbos, and until they conquer those within they should forget about those outside. Unfortunately, they point accusing fingers at everyone but themselves, and would rather derogatorily call us 'Afonja', forgetting that the likes of FFK, Fayose and even Soyinka who have spoken in stronger terms in their support, than any of their current political or national figures, are O'odua.

I know some of their political advisers are in this forum, but truth be told, that Nnamdi KANU has successfully taken over the mantle of leadership from these morons,he controls the majority of the down trodden in SE and SS,the people love and can do his bidden more than the fools called governors put together, the wisest thing they can do is to align with IPOB and MASSOB or lose their positions of prominence in Igbo Land forever.

The Igbo(s) supposed to have shown all this governors they are not ready to be part of Nigeria by boycotting the election that produced them instead of started backing like a toothless do to the governors now.

Anyway, their desire was for their Ijaw master GEJ to win the election in the first place, they transfered their aggression towards their master loss to clamour for biafra.

The most pitiful is that, the ijaw man,GEJ, just used and dumped them.I expect him and edwin clark to join in the biafra struggle.

Look at them, saboteurs, sellouts, efulefus. One of them was crying like a baby when fulani terrorists killed people innocent villagers in his state, the so called chairman said he will map out land and give to herdsmen to avoid kilings in his state, another one among them even paid compensation to fulani terrorists for cattle that was allegedly killed in retaliation by farmers, while one of them actually went and built a school in the north! It still beats me on how these set of clowns became governors. Maybe now that Ikpeazu that has won his case at the supreme court, maybe as an Aba boy, he would really act differently from these clowns who call themselves our governors. The zoo has expired and Biafra has come to stay period. All of them put together cannot stand Nnamdi Kanu's popularity. RUBBISH!
