I think you shout relax and have some fun.
The guys in my class arranged a movie date and time at the beach after our professional exams. We had fun. It takes the edge off while you wait.

get registered as a student. You would need a copy of ur cert and a chartered account to sign the printed form for u.Registration for studentship starts with the payment of 7k excluding bank charge to a designated bank...on payment, proceed online to Register using the pin generated for u by the bank....get the printed form signed by the chartered accountant and submit same at ican office ursef wit relevant docs...I suggest u submit at their head office at Ebutte meta...

to be grounded in accounting, I suggest u start from ats1...on completion of the third part, u wil b given a cert AAT...foundation level is just a level towards the 3levels in ACA cert-more superior cert compared to AAT.Consequently,foundation level completion won't qualify u for any cert

Hello everyone,

A quick question please, for a non-accounting graduate, which is the best/safest choice, is it hrough ATS or doing Foundation?

As both will get you to the skills level (application/intermediate).

Also for the foundation level, will you be given a certificate afterwards like the ATS which you can include in your portfolio/cv

I believe that if you have the time, ATS is the best route for a non-accounting graduate. If you take the ATS route, you would write three exams for ATS I, ATS II and ATS III to be written in March and September every year. There are four courses in each stage, making a total of Twelve courses. Approximately, you would be writing it for a year (For instance, March 2016 to March 2017).

Some of the advantages of writing ATS for non-accounting graduate includes;

1. You would be properly grounded in the basic principles of accounting making it easier for you to understand certain things at the advanced stages(Skills and Professional)

2. The material for ATS covers all the courses in the Foundation level and even more. Someone who has
ATS and proceeds to Skill level probably would find the skill level easier basically because of content of some courses like Public Sector and some topics in performance management are largely the same with that in the ATS examination.

3. The ATS qualification is recognized for employment and gives you a professional title added to your name (AAT). You are already a Professional once you complete ATS, thus there is a sense of fulfillment that comes with it.

I think the only disadvantage is that you would spend more time writing it, and more money.
For the Foundation level, there are five courses which you can write and probably pass all in one sitting(if you are dedicated) and you would have two more courses at the skill stage (Audit and Tax) to write, making it seven courses (You are exempted from these seven courses if you come in through the ATS route). You would probably need to divided the courses in foundation or in skill and write them in batches (Maybe two to four per batch).
Through the ATS route, you are required to write three exams with four courses per exams making twelve courses.While it may seem much, the difference from the foundation route is just five more courses, and these courses are still highly relevant because it makes you more grounded in accounting, and prepares you for the Professional level. Also If you look at the duration closely, you would find out that you may spend almost the same period if you start from foundation or if you go through ATS, unless of course you are exceptional and and pass all courses in foundation at once, and the six courses in skill at once(Its very possible)

Consider it well, and I wish you the best.
