And I guess Mr. Okafor's statement that Urhobos/Isokos are Biafrans is not an association that needs to be disassociated?

Mind you; UPU is the apex group. Even if other groups/persons speak out, UPU is regarded as the primus!

I'm conversant with the willink commission report, i am.well aware of the misgivings towards the Igbo from Akwa cross areas, however its nothing pathological and that cant easily be resolved, its nothing as close to what we have in Urhobo/Isoko area, a loose confederation with groups from those ( Akwa cross )axis, after we have gotten Biafra would work.

But as always, and as represented in my signature, an Igbo only country remain the best option for us.
God bless you.
There is something about the Igbo future due to these Ipob that scares me to the bone marrow.
What happened last in Bayelsa against Igbo traders is not ordinary, its like a hatred piled up in the heart, waiting for an opportunity to show it out.
Igbos are Not loved in those minority areas, the hausa/fulanis knows this.
Thats why they are secreting preparing for war to wipe out Igbos, they will have afaithful allies among these minorities just like in 1967.
I am scared! Something scares me over this feeling.
I was at a traditional wedding in oron last 3months ago, I spend 2 days there, you need to see the heavy Igbophobic sentiment among the locals there, it was shocking.
Why not leave these minorities alone and go for an Igbo only country?

My brother, this is very shameful. I don't understand their despiration. Are these guys really Igbos? Are you sure they are not masking their real identity to attract mockery and hostility to the Igbo nation? I'm just thinking undecided Nobody in his right sense, in this time and order will force an entire ethnic group to a movement they don't subscribe to. If these are truly the so called IPOB members, then the organization is messed up already.

IPOB had done more than all Igbo groups since 1970 in pushing the frontier of our Biafran struggle, they are the sole reason Biafra is discussed all over Nigeria today, they had upgraded on what MASSOB did. Their methods no matter how unpalatable they seem have been effective in gathering local and international awareness to the struggle, they must be commended.
Its easy for us to stay at home and say our opinions, but these Ipobians, had put actions to their words, they had walked the talk, they had through that achieved alot, their efforts demand commendation, even as we preach that they fine tune their efforts to minimize dissipation of otherwise useful energy, cos this Urhobo/ Isoko issue to me is exactly waste of energy on non issue, Ipob can do better.

For that is the curse of the ipodian horde.

I came across this laughable plea from IPOB online and as an Urhobo, I found it laughable and delusional. I'll express my sentiments under the post.

My issues with this delusional plea include:

1. The writer couldn't even spell Urhobo well. What he spelt was Uhrobo, not Urhobo. I have met several Igbos lash on others who dared to omit the "g" in Igbo and spelt as Ibo. The fact that someone or a group that supposedly means us well do not even know how to spell the name of our ethnicity is definitely laughable.

2. Urhobos/Isokos HAVE NEVER been a part of Biafra at any point. In 1967, Urhobo/Isokoland was in Nigeria's Mid-West State (previously in the Western Region) and anyone who knows the history of the war well enough knows that the Mid-West was never part of Ojukwu's short-lived Biafra. In fact, the Biafran troops massacred a lot of Mid-Westerners, including Urhobo/Isokos, when they invaded Benin (only Igbos were spared).

3. In the current resurgence for Biafra, Urhobo/Isokos have always maintained their stand. Our apex socio-cultural unions, UPU and IDU, have stated emphatically that we do not want Biafra. We are not Biafrans. We do not want to be Biafrans! This cannot be overemphasised. Apart from our apex groups, many of us have rejected the Biafran cause in the numerous Urhobo-Isoko groups on the social media.

4. Urhobo/Isokos have never been sympathetic to the Igbo cause in any way. In fact, quite the opposite, we have maintained our independence and tilted more towards the West. The average Urhobo man is more at home with a Yoruba than with an Igbo. This doesn't mean we hate Igbos but we simply have more sympathy with our Edoid/Yoruboid kins. This explains the presence of many itinerant and settler Urhobos in Yorubaland, as opposed to Igboland where Urhobo/Isokos hardly venture to. How then can we share a country with people we have no historical, political or cultural ties with? Any Urhobo/Isoko that may be sympathetic to the Biafran cause does so at the personal level and represents his own interest. The voice of Urhobo/Isoko collective interest has been made known already.

5. Urhobos WILL NOT sit at home and do nothing because IPOB asked us to or because Igbos are doing so. It will NEVER happen, today or anytime soon. Such a plea is useless and antithetical to the Biafran cause. Biafrans should aim for an Igboid country and leave Edoid/Yoruboid groups out of it. Urhobo/Isoko is Edoid. Itsekiri is Yoruboid. Even the Western Ijaws which have always been with us tilt more towards the West than anywhere else. How can you want so many dissimilar groups in your "utopia"? Won't it amount to creating another Nigeria when you "drag" uninterested groups to your cause?

I need not tell the writer, IPOB and any Igbo who cares to hear what the answer to this plea would be. The response is not farfetched. Ihwo r'Urhobo guoni Biafra a! Urhobo people are not Biafrans! We may be fed up with Nigeria but we can never leave the devil for the deep blue sea. Igbo is a majority ethnic group in Nigeria and as such contributes to the plights faced by minorities such as Urhobo/Isoko. The Igbo should not absolve itself from the "parasite" status! As far as minorities are concerned, all majority ethnic groups are a threat. Some are much more than some. In this case, Igbos have never done anything for Urhobo/Isokos to trust its motives. IPOB should stop adding us to its agenda or else it'll attract more insults to itself and the Igbo ethnicity. A word is enough for the wise!

Ihwo r'Urhobo v'Isoko, ke mavor owa mlo ota na vwa? Oshe phiyor? Biko vwa me ji tota kparemu me tare na!

Nothing is wrong with the title. Titles are meant to draw attention to a thread. It is better for me if a lot of persons view this thread. If using titles that draw attention cuts it, then I'm game.

Secondly, the title is not wrong. Afterall, IPOB did plead that Urhobos should observe the May 30th sit-at-home as the quoted post indicated. As I remember, it was IPOB that championed this sit-at-home. Anyone asking another group to observe it is invariably echoing IPOB's decision.

Any sane fellow understands that liberation of Biafra from Nigeria is like breaking the chains holding black African nations forced together by foreigners into one in the most unstable countries of the world.

These forced African countries have been stunted, blighted, seen no peace, little growth, with millions of citizens lost in conflicts.

Isoko or Urhobo or Itshekiri, stop looking at the blackmail by those blokes from the SW and north clutching tightly to a sinking One Nigeria ship, just because the ship contains crude oil.

Asian nations similarly forced into one country quickly took note of the differences between them and separated shortly after independence.

There are many countries in the world less populated than Isoko or Urhobo and Itshekiri.

What counts is how happy one is with one's country, not how big or populated or rich one's country is.

I am scared! Something scares me over this feeling.

Just promise those groups full rights to whatever igbos are in possession today in Nigeria, be it boundary lands, property, appointments, federal scholarships, etc. And watch them unleash their innate Igbophobia.
The hate is already there, the Arewa odua need not do much coercion to achieve that, and they already know it. In Igbophobia, they( these Igbophobic) minorities have a common ground with Arewa odua people, the moment we stoop low to fight their battles, is the moment they use us as a bargaining chip to gain ground on us, by not taking back what Arewa odua stole from them, but by being comfortable having our share used as a replacement for what they lost.

This is partly why some Igbo groups bordering those minorities are not currently on this Biafran bandwagon, they know lots of those groups are salivating over their lands, appointments, etc, they( Igbos outside SE) simply have a lot to lose, and they see no pragmatism or political dexterity in SE to help them should it all go south, they see no vision in SE, infact, they see IPOB lumping groups like Urhobo and Isoko into Biafran project as a pointer to political naivety of SE.

We should and must do better.

Day in, Day out, cries come out from Delta state about herdsmen's exploits.

The exploits of Nigeria in Odi and Gbaramaturu, the various murderous military operations in the SS just for the sake of exploiting the SS.

Then comes opportunity that must bring these sad occurrences in the SS to a stop through first liberating your area via Biafra. But because perhaps you dislike Igbo people, you struggle to throw sway the chance.
