:DAfter three years of non-stop fighting and
starvation , a hole did appear in the Biafran front lines and this was exploited by the Nigerian military. As it became obvious that all was lost, Ojukwu was convinced to leave the country to avoid his certain assassination. [ citation needed ] On 9 January 1970, General Odumegwu-Ojukwu handed over power to his second in command, Chief of General Staff Major-General Philip Effiong, and left for Ivory Coast , where President Félix Houphouët-Boigny – who had recognised Biafra on 14 May 1968 – granted him political asylum. [22][23]
There was one controversial issue during the Biafra war, the killing of some members of the July 1966 alleged coup plot and Major Victor Banjo . They were executed for alleged treason with the approval of Ojukwu, the Biafran Supreme commander. Major Ifejuna was one of those executed. ;

It's about time all Nigerians came together to send all these people that keep living in the past, back to their land.

no need to make dem see reason to stay, they can't be reasoned with... Since the feel they have it all, let's send dem away... As an Akwa Ibomite, I know that it is only Nigerians that can own land here, I knows how cool it will be to take back our lands...

since they have refused to grow up, needless to reason with them, let's all grant them their wish... After so many years others have moved on, but They still keep dragging others back..

time to cut them away

The name Ojukwu is destined to continuously bring you nightmares up till your family's Tenth generation. Just learn how to live with the heartache each time because that name isn't going away any time soon.

Throwback photo of Colonel Odumegwu Emeka Ojukwu reading a speech as he declares the independence of Biafra on May 30th, 1967.

The declaration, which sparked a brutal civil war that left about one million people dead, came two days after the head of Nigeria's military government, General Yakubu Gowon, divided the federation into 12 states, including three in the Southeast.

Is ridiculous to call Ojukwu a Coward. He lived to fight another day. I may not support current agitation for Biafra as an Igbo son but I think the Afonjas are the biggest losers in Nigeria as presently constituted serving as ass licking folks.

Hausa/Fulanis knows that the Afonjas are puppets in their hands and they keep using them to serve their purpose. The worst thing in life is living to please your Masters as the Afonjas are doing now.
how so when the current president osinbajo is afonja ? we running thangs mayne wink grin

Lol, was this when he declared Biafran soldiers and their sticks/stones the greatest black army ever, then turn around and eloped to Abidjan in a skirt via the infamous Uli airport? grin

If only he had been brave/intelligent as his mouth and Osama beards - things would've happened differently. This man had enough time to strategise, play chess, and garner both local support from other Southern ethnic groups and foreign countries - to pull it off. He was just feeling himself too much. A missed opportunity. And he could've written his name in gold and avoided the unnecessary perpetual bickering/hate/distrust between Yorubas and Igbos.

Anyway, Nigeria needs to let these people go. You can't force a scorned wife to stay in a marriage forever, unless you want an untimely death. Folks just need to be smarter this time around and play the right cards, with adequate planning.

Biafra as you may put it, has had a long fight.
Such is commendable.
If we fight corruption same way Biafra is fighting for sovereignty , Nigeria will be a better place.
