Hi Joeluv,

I understand your concern and though I am still in Nigeria, I stumbled on an info that might reduce ur expenses on insurance. It has not been verified but going through the site is explanatory. For groceries and the likes, I really don't have a solution now

please check ISO insurance plan on
https://www.isoa.org/?ref=www.HappySchoolsblog.com
and please let us know if it reduced ur spending in any way.

Thanks and all the best

What the Hell? $1300? wow, you have money to throw around. Anyway you can use http://www.InternationalStudentInsurance.com but you will have to check the requirements for health insurance in your school first to be sure it meets any of the plans. Typically, the budget plan should work for you and depending on your age, it is very cheap compared to US schools health insurance. If you are 25yrs and below you might not pay more than $200 for fall and $300 for spring (spring has more months than Fall). The price gets higher with age but still at that, it will still be way cheaper than your school's. For those planning to come in fall, if you plan to use any health insurance apart from your school's, make sure you fill out your immunization form before coming because most of the outside health insurance don't cover vaccination.

General living expenses depends on your lifestyle but typically for someone that doesn't really eat outside much nor drink or keep late nights, $200/months is MORE than enough to stock your fridge to eat good food. Stores like Aldi and walmart are good places to get cheap groceries, you should also look out for dollartree where everything there cost $1, but it has its limitations too. Telephone bill varies with carrier but averagely, you might get to spend about 40$/month which comes with internet , unlimited calls and text. It is way cheaper about $27, if you don't want internet and since most schools and apartments have wifi you have paid for already, so you might cut cost by not including that in your phone bills but this entirely depends on you. I don't know much about colorado so I might not be able to comment on the accommodation. A good resource to use is craiglist (Don't pay for an apartment you didn't see with your two eyes) just to know the cost and rate, your school should also have off campus accommodation website where you can see all these. Try to check and find out.

Perotti ,What you look out for depends on you but generally, a place that has wifi, comfortable with and its safe. Cost depends on the city, I pay between $500-$600. Apartment that has pool, printing center, gym etc tends to be on the high side because of the insurance they have to pay for pool etc. you won't even get to use all these amenities when school is in session because of time, so it is like waste of money. In Summary, everything depends on you.

Go up to the search and type this .... study plan VO

It will bring up other response to VO based on their transcripts. Take a pen, learn from some and develop your own words

Should have posted this earlier. Got my VISA Approved on Friday at the US Embassy in Lagos. I want to say a big Thank You to the amazing people on this platform. I really learnt a lot from the good people here. I pray God perfect what concerns all of us.
Yh! I got to the embassy around 5:45am for my 7am appointment. I lodged in Yaba since I am not based in Lag and took an Uber to Walter Carrington. It was a rainy day tho.
Fast forward, went through all the screening and was on queue to be interviewed. There were around 4 VOs on seat and I think they had a half day so they were all kinda in a rush so the interview was much faster, that's if your case is reasonable...I believe you all know what I mean, when you not presenting a cock and bull story.

Was interviewed by a Chubby man in window 6, In my mind I was actually praying to be interviewed by him cos others just dey drop blue paper up and down.

Congrats and success ahead!

VO: Good morning
ME: (with a larger than life smile) Good morning sir.
VO: Pass your passport and I20 please.
VO: What is your study plan?
ME: I will be going for a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M Uni Kingsville. The course requires completion of 24 credit hours; 16 hours in a Major and 8 hours in electives with completion of a research Thesis
VO: How many school did you apply to?
ME: 4, I listed them
VO: How many admitted you and how many denied you?
ME: 2 admitted, 1 on waiting list and 1 denied me
VO: Why TAMUK?
ME: because the school offers a concentration in Energy and Environmental Sustainability as part of the MSc in Chemical Engineering program with active research in the Institute of Sustainable Energy and Environment. This particularly aligns with my ultimate career goal of being a specialist in the filed of Energy and Environmental Sustainability.
VO: brings out white paper.....sincerely yours all I heard next was "Good luck with your stay" could pick up the rest of his statement.

My short tip:
Study the transcripts on here but dont memorize. Develop your own answers to the questions
Work on your self confidence...Major Key
Above All Pray and Trust God...Tho I wanted the VO that interviewed me while on the queue but deep inside I was telling myself that whoever it is that will interview me...I am going home with an approval.

All the best guys....#TEAMFALL17

GPA: 4.27/5.0 (Don't know the actual GPA cos I wasn't given by the school, but this is based on my own calculations)

With this GPA and good course I beg you ...please find a much better school.

What is worth doing is worth doing well....
