Some of the beneficiaries of the N.Power programme, who shared their experiences, appreciated the support of the government in empowering them. N-Power is one of the components of the N-SIP aimed at empowering Nigerians both graduates and non-graduates – between the ages of 18 and 35 – who get paid N30, 000 monthly over a period of two years. About 174,160 beneficiaries have been deployed so far out of the 200,000 selected N-Power beneficiaries. Dapil Ali, a beneficiary of N-Power graduate scheme in Plateau State said he was employed under the scheme and posted to a school of the handicap in the state as a teacher. “I have been able to instruct the blind students and my vision is to make every blind person a scientist and a mathematician. “I have been saving part of my stipend; I desire to establish a computer centre that will be training vision impaired persons through a special programme,’’ he said. A beneficiary from Kano State Mr. Ebere Charles, said he graduated with 1st Class Honours in 2013 without a job. Charles said that being the only graduate in the family of eight, it was frustrating not having a job until N-Power transformed his life. “I was skeptical about this N-Power programme before, thinking it will be like any other failed social programmes in the past. “I applied and I was posted to School of Hygiene in Kano where I lecture and counsel the students,’’ he said. Mr Magaji Nicolas, another beneficiary of the programme from Kaduna, who graduated seven years ago, was full of appreciation to the government for employing them. “My life before now was close to despair, I will wake up without a job,’’ he said, Magaji, however, appealed to the Federal Government to extend the scheme to accommodate more youths. “Youths want to be engaged like us but no one to engage them; the stipend is helping but engaging youths is more important even that the money.’’ Ms Geneve Okecheckwu, another beneficiary from Enugu said she had worked with some professionals under the N-Power to learn how to create website. http://fabinfos.com/n-power-beneficiaries-share-experiences/ 5 Likes

Laredojohn:Retain - That's very unlikely cos some states has already blacklisted them from applying for open government recruitment. The funny thing is some people are getting married with their main source of sustenance tied to eMpower stipend. 2 Likes |

Projects like this have their own highs and lows. But overall, I think the present government need to be commended for it while hoping they do better |

What the country really needs are policies that will revive the moribund economy and not this really. Policies that can make the economic hit 8% or more are what's urgently needed. 7% annual economic growth rates creates just enough jobs to absorb those entering the labor market for the first time. Anything above 7% will create enough jobs to begin absorbing the large pool of the unemployed and underemployed. |

I actually blv the program is a step in the right direction, some ppl may say the stipend is small or what happens after the 2yrs, but i will say that at the immediate, the scheme is really a life saver to some ppl. I hope the program is well managed and sustained by this administration. 2 Likes |

Mtcheww, I'm not saying Npower is propaganda or scam, NO.. NPOWER is real, I personally know someone who is a beneficiary.. But this careless Government is trying to generate media frenzy and sympathy for itself. Why are most of the Testimonies from Igbo people. Even on Sun rise daily today @ChannelsTv, the Advert about Npower was a woman speaking in Igbo language on how Npower has benefitted her.. When did the start using Native languages to advertise in Channels TV. Is it only Igbos that are participating in N-POWER What's all this senseless media frenzy Igbos will keep opposing this evil Government, if you like give them Npower MMM powder, T power.. 5 Likes |

ogobaby23:Must you know anybody that has benefitted from it before you appreciate this scheme? Y dont you go to government schools and make findings before concluding? This scheme is the grreatest job scheme ever, employing about 200,000 people.it is unprecedented and may never happen.no where in africa has this been achieved.again, about 300,000 more unemployed graduates would soon be incorporated into it.up buhari 12 Likes |
