Freedom for the OSUs is not a south westerner's problem, it is their own, after all, how many Osu states observe June 12 as a public holiday, watch out for them on June 12 as they will haul abusive words on the hero of june 12. Osus don't care for Yoruba people as a result their plight shouldn't be any concern for a free born Yoruba except for some among Yorubas who are yet to see this.

let them go... we will miss them because we love but it's for only a short time believe me, ijebu's where merchants and highly civilised Africans... success is based on determination.
God bless the Yoruba's, Hausa, Ibo's and all other ethnic groups.

I am not saying it is the wise thing to do long term.
But there is no denying the fact that avoiding referendum is a smart way to avoid the eventual and inevitable result.

Nigeria is not avoiding referendum.....referendum is being prepared its not just a head count or Nigeria presidential election.......REFERENDUM IS FAR MORE THAN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION......Its a very delicate election and THOSE PLANNING TO CONDUCT IT HAS ALREADY GAVE IT TO NIGERIA AS THE ONLY WAY OUT BECAUSE THERE'S A DEAL THAT MADE UP THE NAME NIGERIA AND THE BODY THATS GONNA CONDUCT THIS REFERENDUM HAS SEEN THAT THE DEAL IS NO LONGER ACTIVE WHICH IS THE STRONG STONE BIAFRANS ARE STANDING......NORMALLY THERE SHOULDN'T BE ANY REFERENDUM IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A ROUND TABLE BUT NIGERIA IS YET FAR MORE SCARED OF WHAT THE RESULT OF THE ROUND TABLE MAY BE SO THE GOVERNMENT NOW TRYING TO SEE IF THERE'S ANOTHER WAY ROUND......THEN REFERENDUM WAS ADVICED THEY SEEM TO LIKE IT BECAUSE THEY MIGHT STILL HAVE A CHANCE IN REFERENDUM BUT AFTER NNAMDI KANU WAS ARRESTED THEY NOW SAW REFERENDUM IS EVEN FAR MORE SCARIER THAN ROUND TABLE

But he stays in his swamp, bleating about who belongs where.

Tiny urhobo does not meet the UN minimum requirements to become a country,(maybe you are hoping on other tribes, but i can assure you igbos and some other tribes will never go with you)it doesn't have the numbers,so it has no choice than to either fall in line or remain in nigeria, period!

Urhobo doesn't meet minimum requirement s na Igbo decide that one abi? Or na Igbo meet that requirement?

I hope you now see why God will never make Biafra a reality?
You want to cage other people in your Biafra and when they say no, you say they can never be free yet you want to be free?

Is this why you guys want to forcefully annex Urhoboland? To meet UN Requirements?

Good for you people, when the time come all the SS tribes that don't want referendum in their soil will be automatically be in Nigeria, the Ijaws and Annangs,Efik will participate,if all of them say no,then they will remain also in Nigeria,is not by force.

1. A little secret about Ivory Coast ,Benin ,Togo....they are all heavily subsidized by France.

2.Here is why we got rid of the old regions
a) Minority tribes were being run roughshod over by majority tribes. That is even a big part of the reason why your Biafra collapsed.
b) Even in regions where one tribe dominates...like Western region....everyone and his father could not agree completely.
c)Accountabbility? Corruption was just as bad under the old regional system. Go and read Nzeogwu's coup speech...especially the bit where he refers to ten-percenters.
d)Bad policemen? Under the old regional system we had the Native Authority Police...whose job most of the time was to opress citizens for 'taxes' . And crisis...they were just poor in controlling crisis. See the Tiv riots of 1964....where the Army had to take over from the regional police.
And the pogroms of 1966 were made easier by the fact that the Police was regionalised. There is a very good reason why we have a federal police.....
e)Religious riots a thing of the past? Sorry....but not going to happen. Same thing with FUlani herdsmen...they were roaming around the country long before there was even a Nigeria.Reason why you do not hear of clashes in the past was because the population was smaller then (1963 census: 55million Nigerians. 2006 : 120million Nigerians. And the land no dey get bigger).
f)Every region has common interest? In this era where even tiny tribes like my own are asking for state?

Nigeria's problem is not division. Nigeria's problem is that people want to share money. And they are ready to fight over it. Which in my mind is what is driving all this secession things...as well as the Boko haram, religious, etc crisis. We are a lazy people. We want to eat money. And if we don't get our money we will fight....together or apart.

I don't begrudge Igbos fighting for Biafra.....but I don't support it because the same bad Naija spirit will follow you into Biafra. In other words....it won't solve your problems. There. I have said it. Call me names...but I have said it. Sort that corrupt Naija heart issue out. And start by ending support for people who steal your money today....and then claim persecultion when they are caught. Same goes for other parts of obodo Nigeria.
Well said Sir. Our politicians are an accursed breed. We too are no better than them. Today the disease being fought is 'Nigeria'. But many including those crying out for seccession do not know that they are carriers of that virus. Will the disease breakout WHEN they finally get their dreamland? Time will tell.

There is no sense in your question. What has happened to our properties in Ghana, Togo, Gabon, E.Guinea, UK, USA etc?? Or are you implying that they are all part of Nigeria or that Igbos dont have properties in these countries?? Please reason normally now and not like primitive barbarians.

I'm beginning to feel that Nigeria's problem is more of spiritual than any other thing..

Imagine the genocide and millions of innocent citizens that were killed during the Biafra war .Many were slaughtered like rams.Several women were raped even in their homes.Countless young people were shot and killed for being igbos.

How can you explain that Nigeria which has some of the most brilliant, industrious, creative and hardworking people across the world can't even fix its power generation to the extent that some areas have remained in darkness for years. How can we explain the wickedness and greed of politicians who squander the resources meant for their people. How can we explain that with so much oil,we still act poor.

As much as no sane mind would want a repetition of the Biafra war,I feel the Nigerian Government needs to appeal to the conscience of the South Easterners. The soul of those men and women who were killed unjustly still cry for justice.

Nigeria needs sincere cleansing if things must work in this country...

You'll have your referendum sooner or later. Just keep the spirit alive and the struggle on. Get a well delineated territory first comprising of Igboid people and your case will be stronger.

Empty streets' to mark Biafra war anniversary
Posted at 10:16am

A call by the pro-secessionist Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) group for a sit-at-home protest in Nigeria's south-east has been heeded, according to posts on Twitter:
The protest is intended to mark 50 years since then-head of the Eastern Region of Nigeria, Colonel Emeka Ojukwu, unilaterally declared the independent Republic of Biafra.

More than two years later, after one million civilians had died in fighting and from famine, Biafra was re-absorbed into Nigeria.

See earlier post for more details.
