Sit down here dey talk rubbish while reasonable people are making money on farm land. If you study Agriculture in University and you dont want to do ur NYSC in Farm, then you are a fool. Some people don dey miss Sunday services now all because of farm, while you are here talking rubish. I prefer to have my own mechnise farm than my current job, cos I'm sure I will make more money than what I'm making now. I only need capital 8 Likes |

Nigerians should stand up and stone this wickedness called govt Imagine the nonsense They want to use our sons and daughters from East, South and West as labourers to cultivate their yams for exportation abi? Another strategy to enslae us to the northerners If they wish to post me to the farm and pay me their allawee, abeg make them take the allawee and allow me to go my village go do my own farm because e go better pass for me Ndia ara 2 Likes |

NaijaMutant: Well....we shall always need to eat....so farmers are needed. While I find the NYSC's decision odd (square pegs in round holes and all that)...on the other hand,it might be a good thing to learn a bit of farming. Back in the 1980's...when SAP was sapping Nigerians...many Nigerians with university degrees and office jobs started farming on the side. Not just plants, animal farming.I personally know of family friends who were graduates, and who kept pigs, polutry, planted all sorts of crops (one church my family attended even had a co-op that bought land for farming purposes), and even kept cows and sheep. The problem with your criticisim is that you think that farmers are 'bush people'. Well....I have news for you. They are not. And it is high time corpers learned some farming skills if they haven't already. Even me....I am a professional...but I have a dream that in the next ten years...I will own a small polutry business. Even if it is just ten layers laying eggs to sell to neighbours and friends. Better stop looking down on agric. Unless you want to tell me that food comes from the sky. Better for corper to learn how to farm....no one knows tomorrow. One graduate spent two years looking for job, before he went into agric back in the late 1980's. Ten years later he was an employer of labor. Office jobs are not the be all that ends all. 3 Likes |
