Liverpool On Brink Of Deal For Chelsea's Nigerian Goal Poacher

Liverpool are on the brink of announcing the capture of England U20 international of Nigerian heritage Dominic Solanke.

Various reports in the United Kingdom claim that the Reds will have to pay three million pounds for the striker, a fee that has to be determined by a tribunal since he is under the age of 24.

Solanke has been linked with possible moves to Arsenal, Celtic and Red Bull Leipzig, but Liverpool are confident they have won the race for his signature.

Apart from a season-long loan spell at Vitesse back in the 2015-16 season, the 19-year-old has played nonstop at Chelsea for the past twelve years, rising through the ranks before he was handed his first team debut by Jose Mourinho in a Champions League clash against NK Maribor in October 2014.

The Reading-born talent will team up with ex-Golden Eaglets trainee Ovie Ejaria, Sheyi Ojo and Bobby Adekanye at Liverpool next season if his transfer to Anfield materializes.

Dominic Solanke is showing off for the Young Lions at the ongoing Fifa U20 World Cup in South Korea.

Rohr Drops Four Players, Ogu, Victor Moses, Omeruo,Akpeyi, Ideye & Onazi Return

As many as four players presently in the camp of the Super Eagles in France are set to be axed from the team when the list for the AFCON 2017 Qualifiers game against South Africa is released.

Owngoalnigeria.com sources reveal coach Gernot Rohr will drop the players after the game against Togo on the 1st of June, with their spot set to be taken by players excused from the training camp in France.

Presently 19 players are in the camp of the team but the number will be whittled down to 15 with six players or probably seven joining the team next month when preparations for the June 10 clash against South Africa hots up.

For now the players who are likely to be axed have not been released by the coach but six players are set to be recalled to the squad according to reports exclusively gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent.

Victor Moses, John Ogu, Ogenyi Onazi, Daniel Akpeyi , Kenneth Omeruo and Brown Ideye are all expected to be handed recall to the team, while Moses Simon is also heavily under consideration.

Top Performers In Eagles Training – Iwobi Shows Class, Etebo Shines, Alampasu Impresses

The training of the Super Eagles of Nigeria which saw them involve in a 9-a side game hard a lot to give coach Gernot Rohr hope ahead of their friendly game against Togo on the 1st of June.

In training, the return of Alex Iwobi after Arsenal’s FA Cup duty sparked a team consisting of Oghenekaro Etebo, Olarewaju Kayode and Mikel Agu to victory in the 9-a side game witnessed by Owngoalnigeria.com Michael James.

Iwobi pulled the strings from the middle for his team who were lethal going forward and gave Chidozie Awaziem and William Troost-Ekong a lot to worry about with Etebo tireless running also a factor in their win.

However it was clear to see the gulf in class between Iwobi and the players he was up against in midfield as he sprayed passes and connected with his forward players at ease.

Etebo benefitted the most from his near perfect ball distribution with the forward getting among the goal for his side, who were also helped by the performance of Dele Alampasu in goal.

Alampasu made strings of good saves particularly a one hand save to deny Ibrahim Alhassan and another save from close range just when Stephen Odey thought he has scored for his team.

Mikel Agu also did very well in the session, as his link up play with Iwobi and Uche Agbo deny the likes of Sikiru Olatubosun, Odey and Shehu Abdullahi the chance to fully assert themselves in proceedings.

Rohr Reinstates Victor Osimhen In Super Eagles Squad For Togo Friendly

Wolfsburg of Germany Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen will make the Super Eagles squad for the June 1st Friendly against Togo latest reports indicates.

Coach Gernot Rohr has already listed 19 players for the game against Togo, with Osimhen ruled out of the clash as there was no confirmation on if he will arrive in the camp of the team in France before the game.

However few minutes ago, the official twitter handle of the senior national team of Nigeria confirmed the 18 year old, who was a late substitute in Wolfsburg 1- 0 win over Eintracht Braunschweig last night is on his way to the camp of the team in France.

It means 20 players will dress for the friendly against the Hawks of Togo, with the tie set to play a role in the final selection of players for the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against South Africa in Uyo.

Coach Rohr rates the 18 year old highly although he is yet to hand him his debut, but the game against Togo could be the perfect time to give the ex U-17 top scorer his senior national team bow.

Onyekuru close to Joining Arsenal
By Jamie Einchcomb

Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru could well be on his way to Arsenal.

• Soccer Nigeria claims deal for Onyekuru has been agreed

• KAS Eupen forward scored 25 goals last season

• The 19 year old has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs

In an exclusive, Soccer Nigeria reveal that Arsenal have agreed
a fee of €8 million for the player.

A source told them: “Henry (Onyekuru) is close to becoming a Gunner, the transfer fee has been agreed and his weekly wages and other personal terms have been agreed.”

Onyekuru has enjoyed a stellar season in Belgium, scoring 25 goals in 41 appearances for newly promoted KAS Eupen. He has gained a reputation for his ability to carry the ball with the speed.

The 19 year old’s goal tally is impressive considering he has played most of the season as a left winger.

Arsenal are said to be a dream destination for him. The likes of Celtic, Celta Vigo, Swansea, Brighton, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund were monitoring him, but it seems Arsenal have beaten out the competition.

Well both keepers didn't expect the strikes to end up in the net but to me that is energy wasted if u jump for the camera, they could also get injured doing the jump and that is not wanted

I was just being funny when I said jump for camera but the keepers should have done better. Also their positioning was questionable.

Mickael2:

putting the ball in the back of the net? Come on man.

I remember when I mentioned that Nacho was scoring goals against Tanzania, theSuperNerd said you can only score against the team in front of you. Now let's use that logic for Mbappe, he has been scoring against teams in front of him for fun, in the league AND the champions league. I got tired of this argument when guys here wanted to ignore his UCL impact, I mean this lad is scoring against Borrusia, Man City and other top top teams, somehow someone wants to compare that stat to scoring the last goal in a demolition of Celtic who are used to collecting 6+ goals from every top team

IMO Tanzania's keeper was on a world class level that day and I don't see any keeper doing better with that goal.
Henry went ooh la la for Mbappe but he was playing Luxembourg.

GABRIEL JESUS shows just how far he has come in the past three years after posting pictures of him painting the streets of Brazil ahead in bare feet ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

The 20-year-old has gone from decorating the streets of his neighbourhood in green and yellow paint to signing a £4million-a-year deal with Manchester City.

Jesus posted a number of photos of himself on social media as a 17-year-old painting the curbs on the cobbled streets.

Keep up to date with all the latest news, gossip, rumours and done deals in SunSport’s live transfer blog

He, like many other kids in Brazil, dreamed of representing their country but City’s new starlet is now emerging as a key player for his nation.

After watching his nation crash out of the 2014 World Cup in a 7-1 defeat to Germany, Jesus is now set to be involved in the next World Cup.

The forward’s rise to the top has seen him sign for Manchester City from Palmeiras, in a deal which could rise to £31million.

When these picture were taken Jesus will have been on the books at Palmeiras.

Jesus has hit the ground running on his arrival to the Premier League and has scored seven goals in ten league appearances – which has seen him challenge Sergio Aguero for a starting place.

The clinical striker has already tasted success with Brazil – winning Olympic gold – and will now aim to help Brazil win their sixth World Cup in Russia next year.

Jesus told ESPN Brazil:”I thought it would be harder, It hasn’t been easy, for sure, I changed my life completely, but I’ll never complain about it.

“I’m grateful for being here, realising a dream, playing in Europe, when I left Palmeiras, it was sad, but happy as well, with a title.”

Although he continues to miss his mother and is hoping to spend some quality time with his family during the off-season.

He added:”Everybody is helping me here, [Brazilian teammates] Fernandinho, Fernando, but the club as well. They help my family, my friends that are here with me.

“I’m missing my mum a little, she is in Brazil with my brothers and nephews. But, when she is happy, I am too. This week we will meet and end this feeling.”

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Jesus lifted the lid on his tattoo on his arm – which is of the favela where he grew up.

It shows a young boy holding a football, with a Brazil cap on, gazing up at a notorious Sao Paulo favela.

The ‘JD Peri’ stands for the Jardim Peri favela, where Jesus lived until he was 16.

Exclusive: PSG To Scout Nigeria Stars Vs Togo...But Which Players Are They After?

Paris Saint-Germain have dispatched one of their trusted scouts to monitor the international friendly between Nigeria and Togo at the Stade Municipal de Saint Leu La Foret,
allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.

It has long been known that The Red-and-Blues were tracking a few Eagles stars in Kingsley Madu (Zulte Waregem) and Eddy Onazi (Trabzonspor), but the two young stars have not been invited to this particular get-together.

A top PSG insider has informed this website that the capital outfit will be taking a look at Gent's William Troost-Ekong, but has stressed that a transfer is not in the offing as they are only watching the central defender.

The French Ligue 1 powerhouse are also targeting Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, with uncertainty surrounding his future at the Etihad Stadium, and he will be observed against The Sparrow Hawks.

Austin Okocha and Godwin Okpara are two famous Nigerian players that represented PSG in the past.

Remo Stars succumb to Itodo's throw-ins

Published on Sunday, 28 May 2017 20:45
Hits: 47
By Clement Nwankpa Jnr

The fear of Daniel Itodo's long throws is now the beginning of wisdom for Plateau United's opponents. Remo Stars were the latest victims losing 0-1 to Plateau at Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos.

For Remo, the entire 90 minutes turned out to be a struggle to ward off Itodo's throws. One would have thought the visitors would avoid conceding more of the throws but ironically, they gave away 32.

And, from as far as the center circle, most of the throws ended up in Remo's box. Left back, Itodo would run all the way to the right flank to heave the balls in.

This was simply reminiscent of Stoke's legendary long throw specialist, Rory Delap.

So it became a regular feature seeing center back, Salomon Junior surging forward to meet Itodo's throws.

In the 13th minute, his throw caused all sorts of problems in Remo's box but it took Chizoba Ndukwe's strong hands to keep off Junior's shot after a goalmouth melee.

Eight minutes later, Philip Azango cut in from the right and hit the ball with his left only for Ndukwe to parry the goal-bound effort into corner.

Then in the 31st minute, an ensuing scramble in Remo's box off Itodo's throw saw a sea of legs searching for the ball but a desperate Lasisi Saheed managed to get it into corner.

At this point, Remo was living on the edge. Itodo was asking many questions with those throws and fittingly, in the 43rd minute, one led to the game's only goal.

He heaved the ball strong and low into the box; Remo players failed to deal with it and
Hamzat Owolabi jabbed in the ball.

Plateau could have scored more off the throws but for the players' profligacy in front of goal. In turns, Kabiru Umar, Benjamin Turba and Emeka Umeh failed to convert begging chances off the throws.

In one notable moment, in the 51st minute, Itodo dazed all with the power he packed into a throw from the center of the pitch; Umar knocked down the ball for Turba who merely needed to tap into an empty net but missed target.

Remo's coach Fatai Osho bemoaned his boys' inability to deal with Itodo's throws despite working on neutralising their potency.

"Right from my days in the NNL, I have played against Plateau about four times now and this boy kept doing this same thing with his throws. We worked on these throws during training. We tried to stop those throws today but just couldn't. He is good at it", Osho said.

Plateau coach, Kennedy Boboye is not bothered about the seeming negative throw-in tactic.

"You can say what you like but it (the throws) is our game. It is our own pattern. Or are throws no longer part of football?", he asked.

Nigerdeltaboi:
I think two of the home boys might not make the cut and then the absence of any other RB will see Tyrone and shehu making it.
the keepers will make it with apkeyi expected to join.
I pity Rohr ooo

Sikiru and Odey are much needed by MFM.

Maybe Abdullahi, Agbo and Sikiru.

tbaba1234:
Which 4 players do you think will be dropped? Is it 2 or 3 keepers for the qualifiers
