Feygbe:If you are in Lagos, you can go to Alagbon. Otherwise you can be like me - follow the instructions on how to fingerprint, buy a good stamp pad and do it in the comfort of your home. To be on the safe side, you can fingerprint on up to 5 copies of the form. Then mail your application packet to FBI. I did that and got mine in 7 weeks. 3 Likes |

Boss13:well said senior. However, the funds isn't coming from only one cooperative. Luke I earlier said ,its my thoughts. Will really appreciate more contributions in this regard and how best to go about it. As PoF, can we present, her account,my account and a dorm account?? Isn't this too distracting for the VO?? 1 Like |

My people, I think we need to conduct more research on what constitutes or does not constitute acceptable POF. I've been doing some research and it seems like provident funds (PF) are accepted. PFs are quite similar to our Retirement Savings Account (RSA). Here is an extract from one of the provinces in Canada (Saskatchewan): "The following funds will be accepted: Personal chequing or savings accounts Bonds Cash value life insurance Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GICs) or Certificates of Deposit Mutual Funds Provident Funds (an official letter from the provident fund organization indicating the amount of funds that are accessible is required) Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs) Stocks Tax Free Savings Accounts (TFSAs) Term deposits and time deposits (must be valid at the time of application and remain valid throughout the entire application process) Treasury Bills Debentures, credit cards, lines of credit, gold, cash, property or businesses are not accepted as settlement funds". On CIC website, they say the following about POF: These funds could be in the form of: -cash, -documents that show property or capital payable to you (such as stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills, etc.), or documents that guarantee payment of a set amount of money, which are payable to you (such as bankers’ drafts, cheques, travellers’ cheques or money orders). The only issue for now is probably that no one has tested this. I plan to write them to get an opinion soon so maybe we can get clarity about the whole issue. 2 Likes |

Guys please quick question, I'm about paying for my iqas eca now, but I'm using a friends card. I hope this wouldn't cause any issues? Given that the name on card information would be his. |

Onyeenyeh: Look into the possibility of adopting your cousin legally after due consultation with the parents or guardians (as the case maybe) and getting the necessary paperwork/orders from the social welfare office and courts...i think that's the only way for him to be your dependant. Also see the below: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/glossary.asp#d Adoption A process whereby a person becomes a member of another family. This process must create a genuine parent-child relationship that permanently severs the legal ties to the child’s biological parents or guardians. Dependent child A child who depends on their parent for financial and other support. A son or daughter is considered a dependant of their parent when the child is: under 19 years old, and does not have a spouse or partner, or 19 years old and over, and has depended largely on the parent’s financial support since before the age of 19 because of a physical or mental condition. The definition of a dependent child before August 1, 2014 was: A child who depends on their parent for financial and other support. A son or daughter is considered a dependant of their parent when the child is: under 22 years old, and does not have a spouse or partner, or a full-time student on an ongoing basis since before the age of 22, and has depended largely on a parent's financial support since that time, or 22 years old and over, and became a spouse or partner before the age of 22, and has been a full-time student on an ongoing basis since before the age of 22, and has depended largely on a parent's financial support since they became a spouse or partner, or 22 years old and over, and has depended largely on the parent's financial support since before the age of 22 because of a physical or mental condition. Hello Gurus in the house, for the POST ITA issues, i will suggest we have a page on this thread that has the steps for Post ITA just like Zandora did with page 0 for Pre ITA. This way anyone that has a question on Post ITA will be referred to this page, then come back and ask specific questions. This Post ITA page should contain what to look out for, putting your docs together, snapshots, pdf tips etc. It should also have the meanings of all those abbreviations COPR,AOR, etc. I know it will be time consuming but pls gurus in the house lets put heads together so people don't keep clamouring for a seperate thread Post ITA. @ Vcole, Dupsyshoo, Elfmann, Cala, Zandora etc over to u. Sorry i will not be able to contribute as we are still in the pool. Hubby is the PA, we have been on this since 2015. All information we needed we got from this thread. I have never asked any question because i always visit the thread and pick solutions from responses. I started from page 0. Hubby is not so keen so i have to en courage him from what i read from here. His profile is better. Sorry for my long epistle. God will help everyone on this canadian dream. Let us keep this thread alive. 10 Likes |

Chordata: I can confidently tell you that Pension funds if submitted will not be calculated as your POF. Let me explain - you need to prove you have funds to settle in Canada and take care of your family for the meanwhile. This fund MUST be available to you at any point in time - Pension fund isn't. Now when you get to Canada - you can show your Pension fund as part of your settlement funds. That will be accepted to enable you gain entry. Please note settlement fund is not proof of fund. POF is before you get COPR. Settlement fund is after you get COPR and you are landing in Canada. What you disclosed above is what you will show border control when you get to Canada. They will not ask you for 6 months bank statement. However, the VO must ascertain that the fund you claim you have is actually yours. |

I don't understand when folks say this thread doesn't tackle post ITA issues. I got every single post ITA info I needed from this same thread. Docs to submit in each section, converting to PDF, merging two or more PDF docs, letter to get from the bank, how to go about paying for the application, POF, getting PCC, gift deed samples, hospital info for Medicals and so many more I got from this thread. Are all these not post ITA issues? Questions like how VOs conduct background checks is beyond us na, we be VO? All u shd worry abt is submitting the appropriate docs and how to go about that is all on this thread. The only tricky issue is POF and diff scenarios have been tackled here. If u wanna create a thread for whatever, go ahead but don't say this thread doesn't tackle this and that. 100% of info I needed to submit was gotten off this thread. Just read and open ur brain while reading to understand. It's not rocket science or quantum physics. Same question is repeated on every single page. Gurus in the house, God bless. 15 Likes |

Boss13: Please can you shed more light on settlement fund/border check thingy? Will they surely ask for settlement fund proof to gain entry into the country? |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by Chordata(m): 8:56am On May 31, 2017 |
Boss13: okay fine but what are you basing your conclusion on? Experience or did you read up something? Do you have documentary evidence? There is no difference between proof of fund and settlement fund except you can show me the difference from some write up. Proof of fund means you should have sufficient funds to settle in Canada so I don't know how you distinguished between the two. Read from Canadavisa forum and you will find people that used provident funds as POF. They do not expect you to have all the cash in hand at the moment; the idea is that you can access the funds when you need to. 2 Likes |

Boss13: Pension fund is allowed. I went to my PFA ( IBTC Pensions Managers) to confirm if only 25% of my account balance can be considered as POF for Canada PR Visa. I was informed that the total balance in my account would be considered. That though 25% is considered for those that are out of work and still in Nigeria. 100% is considered for those applying for Canada PR. 3 Likes |

Chordata: Hope you know that though the above are similar, there is a difference... The sum total in a Provident Fund can be assessed when the need arises but in the case of RSA you can only assess 1/4 before retirement and nothing more. Let's try to take our minds totally out of the RSA and look for better means of Proof of Funds What is good for John might be poisonous to James...to be forewarned is to be forearmed! 3 Likes |

Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by Nobody: 10:04am On May 31, 2017 |
edababa007: Please don't be deceived...you can't have access to 100% of funds in your RSA...25% is what the Pensions Act states and this can only be applied for four months after you are out of work. The question we should ask ourselves is: would the 25% be accessed before we submit our application post ITA and would it be sufficient to meet CIC's requirement for the program under which we are applying? The answer most likely is NO! as Most people here are still employed and as such this would prove a difficulty. Be it known that You can only access 100% upon retirement and that too has conditions to be met and hence does not satisfy the requirement of funds being free from encumbers...(if not we would have being allowed to borrow). Also the PFA is not the VO who holds a final decision on what constitute proof of funds 6 Likes |
