Good evening mamas.

I ran out of pap yesterday, although i washed the new one yesterday and it hasn't settled well for me to take from it. I had to buy small for breakfast, Was directed by my neighbour to get a well prepared one only to find out that it was yellow corn and ginger, although it wasn't bad when I made it. Didn't taste it though because I don't take pap or custard because of a personal phobia. Dh said he likes the new pap and it didn't smell like my own, the aroma of the ginger was quite nice and he prefers it.

Please can I start putting ginger in my own? Will it have it have any side effects on my kids? Is there any nutritional value to it?

Hi everybody,
My baby was born on the 19th of may and ever since he was born he has refused sucking his mothers breast as we feed him NaN.
What I want to ask is that is there any disadvantage to this formula we are giving him and also what do we have to do to make him to accept breastfeeding cos he will cry move his hands all in an attempt not to breastfeed...any suggestions will be tried.
not realy my daughter did the same and startedsucking about 3wks but she still preferredt the 4mula becos it fills their stomach more than breastmilk just keep putting him to breast and give him reasons why he should suck
It worked for me and she sucked till she was a year and 6months I pray it works for u mainwhile express the breast milk into a reader or a cup I am sure he will not refuse it. Good luck and congratulations

Thank you very much for this reply. My wife is producing milk and once in a while we squeeze it out for him to drink via his bottle and he consumes them all but my wife barely makes 30ml and she is always complaining of the pain but I have told her to endure.
We have a neighbour that told her to drink konu anya that it will facilitate her breast milk increase though we keep trying but my fear is that the way he cries and struggles when we want to breastfeed him will not lead to something negative.
Can I change from NaN to Aptamil without any negative consequences
if he is not reacting to the nan there will be no need for a change though aptamil is the milk with a different I switched from nan to aptamil when my baby was 6wks old and there was no negetive reactions and she took it till after her 3rd birthday.

Dont try to force him to suck. If he is already very hungry and crying it may not be the right time to be trying to introduce breast.

Since he takes the bottle ok. Why not reduce the quantity he usually takes. after he finishes it.. burp him and put him to breast . That way he is not sooooooo hungry. He is more likely to take to as he is less stressed, and mummy too is less stressed.

Also ensure that he is latching on properly, sucking bre.ast is alot of work compared with bottle sucking
No be for old age liking of awoof dey start!

What is your wife using to express the bre.astmilk out? Hand, manual pump or electric pump? Different people have different experiences... a couple of mamas here swear by hand expressing, others have had excellent results from manual pump and yet others have had to use electric to get anything noteworthy.

The quantity she gets out may be linked to the method of expressing as well as her own stress levels. Make sure she is well hydrated, drink loads of fluids if she want to express, sit somewhere comfy and get a bottle (min 50ml) of water. She may also want to use a towel with warm water to gently massage the breast... this will help with the flow as well as relive some of the pain. (warm water oh..... not pluck-chicken-feather- hot)

Hope this helps

Also there is no issues with changing formular. If you baby is taking nan well, there really is no need to change it to aptamil

Welcome to parenthood.

For the cough, there is little or nothing you can do. I only give Vit C. Cough will clear on it's own but if it doesn't for more than 3 days, you may need to see the doctor.

I think mama zaynie has a cough recipe grin.( emmm.... Traditional way: palm oil and sugar, mixed it together and give a little for your LO) Thats mama zaynie cough syrup recipe grin and it usually work because some mama have testified for it. As for Drugs, maybe you should buy a cough syrup for baby.(Ask your doctor) I have no further experience. Wish your LO well.

Ginger is actually good.
Very good for digestive system related ish like tummy ache or constipation. Also good for cough. Very good.
Just don't make it too spicy.

I think mama Zaynie has the palm oil and sugar remedy. I didn't follow that path though as dh no gree. We went to the hospital and we were given antibiotics and vitamin c. I was also advised to do steam inhalation with silverbird. And like one mama adviaed, i put a few drops on his bib which helped decongest his chest.

Like a table spoon of oil for starters. Then gradually mix the cubes of sugar in it starting with one cube. Stop when the mixture is not too loose an not too thick

Pls mothers, let's be careful and viligant abt the pple we leave our children in their care and always watch out for change in our kids behaviors once we leave them in care of other pple.

Kia, a wicked world we leave in.
