ottawaboi: Chief no need moving these funds from your account to your wife account. POF can be in your name or wife's name - abi you no dey follow her go Canada ni! Liquidate your investment NOW - get a covering letter from your Cooperative on both investments. This is to show where your lump sum came from. If it was TBill or Bond from a Bank, there would be no need to liquidate, you can submit the certificate. My only concern is if your Cooperative isn't a registered cooperative in Nigeria, because the letter head should show their CAC number. If it is registered, you don't have problem. If it's isn't - it is legally wrong to do business with an illegal entity. 3 Likes |

Boss13: I don't think cooperatives give certificates oo. You have a card like esusu where you mark the monies paid monthly. If the monies are deducted from your salary it will be reflected in your pay slips. I think that's sufficient proof. I don't know if cooperatives will write letters like bank and add their certificate of registration. Anybody who gets that is lucky . I belief that the deposit will reflect the name of the depositors, your payslips(as many as possible 12 random ones) to show the debit. A vo can decide with that |

dupyshoo: What you just explain here is the reason VOs cast doubt on lump sum. What is the essence of a husband transferring money to the wife and then support with gift deed? That's why Accra VOs frown so much with Nigerian applications. The question the VO will ask is - why can't the husband just submit his statement of account because POF can be in the name of the spouse of primary applicant. Your advice shows concealment. A gift deed can protect such concealment but it opens the applicants to intense scrutiny and delay in processing their application. I will only recommend your advice if his Cooperative isn't registered and further add that ALL their documents must proofread multiple times for errors because one slight error leads to ADR and further delay. 4 Likes |

optionese: HA!!! Then this is a problem. I still insist that the funds be liquidated immediately because of time. According to the OP, it is their money - they didn't borrow. To avoid much issues - just leave the money for 6 or 7 months, then apply. Alternatively, if they are in a hurry - do gift deed. However, the essence is WHY!!! Why gift your wife money that belongs to you both. Like I said, do gift deed ensure other documents are okay without issue - they are good to go. Oh! Don't forget to use LOE to explain. You can say you and your spouse operate your finances separately so you are gifting her the money. |

Boss13: Thank you for your detailed analysis. Actually i intend to show 25% of my pension account balance as the POF. But with your explanation, i would have to increase my FD to 100% of the required POF. Thank you and God Bless. 1 Like |

Boss13: Let me just part of my money own is coming from my cooperative. My comparative is registered. What I intend to do is get a letter signed that the money belongs to me and all the the other things. I will also upload my payslips and my card which marks the deduction. My money hasn't been deposited yet but I feel like even if the money is deposited today and I print out my statement tomorrow am fine. And immediately my money is complete I am putting it in tbills. Cos the interest on it is necessary 1 Like |

Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by Boss13: 5:26pm On May 31, 2017 |
optionese: Spouse of the primary applicant do not submit POF. The POF section in the document checklist will only be indicated for the Primary applicant. However, the statement of account that the primary applicant would submit can either have his/her name; the name of his/her spouse or a joint account in their names. The POF should not be a joint account of the primary applicant with a 3rd party like for instance a sibling or a joint account of the spouse and a 3rd party maybe his/her father. So if all the funds is in the spouse account. The primary applicant can just submit the bank statement of his/her spouse as POF. Rather than receiving a large sum of money and using gift deed. Marriage certificate is documentary evidence that you and your spouse are married. Affidavit for change of name indicates especially for women that you once bear a different name, when you were single, but now have another name. Further questions won't be asked. So I was surprised when I read comments where husband's were transferring money to their wives, who is the primary applicant, and using a gift deed. 3 Likes |

optionese: My first question is when are you applying. Second question, have you gotten ITA? Good to know your Cooperative is registered. Get a letter from them, including all the documents you specified above. I don't know, just my opinion, I don't think it's okay to then buy Tbills with this same money again. You can leave it in your account (just my opinion) especially if you intend to submit your application soon. |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by optionese: 5:32pm On May 31, 2017 |
Boss13: But @ottawaboi has the POF in his and his wife's account. So are they submitting the two accounts? |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by optionese: 5:36pm On May 31, 2017 |
Boss13:Yes I have ITA, I would be credited with my cooperative moneyin June when salaries are paid) am a government worker) if I put my money in tbills and there is a further request for funds all I need to do is submit the tbills certificate that would suffice right ht? |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by Boss13: 5:39pm On May 31, 2017 |
optionese: Yes nothing wrong in submitting two accounts. The only problem will be the document size. Because each document upload should not exceed 4MB, so they may have to compress the PDF file of their account statements and any other documents that support their POF. Recall, in your EE profile, you would be asked - how much do you intend to come to Canada with. In this question column, you specify the amount you would be traveling to Canada with and then support this claim with official documents (POF). And when you land in Canada, you show them the fund (Settlement fund). Both remember that you must consider the minimum amount as indicated for your family size. So your POF/Settlement fund can be higher than but not below the minimum amount required for your family size. Cheers!!! 1 Like |

optionese: Okay which means you have less than or up to two months left to submit your application. I don't know what date in June you will be credited. Now your wife can submit her 6 months statement of account. Go ahead and buy the Tbills for 6 months and attach the certificate as part of the POF. Now you don't need to submit your own statement of account. Alternatively, since your Cooperative is registered and I don't know if your wife's Cooperative is registered. If her isn't registered. Let her buy the Tbills after she has liquidated and you submit your 6 months statement of account with the fund intact. Submit your application close to expiration date and also print the account statement close to that date, but you would have already purchase the Tbills. In short you should have purchase the Tbills like yesterday. The reason I said print your statement close to the expiration date of your application is because it will show that the money has stayed at least for a month. However, you may be asked to submit statement of account again in the future. This is to satisfy the VO that the money is still in your account. The TBill certificate already will show that you cannot withdraw the money till after 6 months - so this is good. Whichever you choose, you MUST explain concisely your POF in your letter of explanation. You can even indicate that you do not have plans to withdraw your funds till you get COPR. |

From IRCC website, it is clearly written that pof should be in the primary applicant account. So, I know what I am saying. However, that does not mean if the pof is in the spouse account, it won't be honoured. Before you crucify me, are there not so many gift deeds that are done on borrowed funds? Gift deeds have been so over used. I won't be surprised if VOs stop the use of gift deeds. What do you mean by concealment? If the VO wants more information, they can always request for new bank statements from the applicant to be sure the money is still there. I have seen application rejected with gift deed but I am yet to see applications that were rejected when the spouse transferred funds to the PA's account. They genuinely have the fund, so why should they use gift deed? Did you even take your time to read my post? Did you see my question on if the cooperative is registered? I have given my advice. It is not by force that it has to be taken. I rest my case!! Boss13: 2 Likes |

ottawaboi: Yes and also my cooperative is dropping my funds in June and my first ITA would expire July 10th wanted room for the money to breathe in my account or if there is delay. It's cooperative for government workers and sometimes there are delays. |

Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by vcole: 7:32pm On May 31, 2017 |
So many things wrong with this response in my opinion. The spouse can and i advise should transfer the funds to his wife who is the PA. He ony needs to write a letter of explanation that he did so to assist in meeting the funds requirement for their family size. To further support this, he can opt to include his work history and reference letter under the employment section of his own form during eAPR just to show that he earns an income however this is not compulsory. The PA should submit her 6 months' bank account statement and any evidence the cooperative can provide to show how long the funds she invested with them were held for and so on. The spouse does not need to provide any evidence from the cooperative. The PA should use her international passport as it is and should not use any 'new name' or fill any other name anywhere else as there is no evidence of such a name on any of her documents. A marriage certificate suffices to show prooof of relationship to her spouse. Boss13: 4 Likes |
