Premier League champions Chelsea and German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are prepared to hijack Nigeria striker Henry Onyekuru from Arsenal by paying more for him, SCORENigeria can again exclusively report.

Both clubs have already contacted the player’s agents Mercato, whose representatives are now in London for transfer talks.

Premier League clubs Swansea and West Ham United as well as Schalke 04 from the Bundesliga are also prepared to match Arsenal offer for the exciting striker.

“Henry (Onyekuru) case is just like a beautiful lady noticed by many eligible bachelors,” a source told SCORENigeria

“Chelsea and Dortmund have now contacted his agents on Wednesday and they are ready to pay him more than £38,000 a week as well as meet the eight million Euros transfer fee.

“But his mind seems to be with Arsenal as they have been his childhood club, but you can never say never in football.

“I am sure we will know his destination soonest.”

I don't think Kelechi is that better than Kayode Olarenwaju who have been the highest scoring Nigerian player in Europe over the last 2 seasons.
That is not a record to be waved aside.

I know the question about the strength of the league he plays in will be pointed at, but when you consider that most goals Kelechi have scored in the Epl have been close range tap ins, one can argue that Kayode can score those goals all things being equal.
Don't throw Kayode under the bus. He's better than that.

Brother, if kayode is as good as you think, he would av been in a better club last yr na, look at henry for example he just performed just this season and clubs r hustling for him, kayode won highest goal scorer with just 17 goals, but henry scored 22 goals but still cldnt win highest goal award, it shows you that Austrian league is not even competitive to Belgium league talk more of EPL.

MY LINE UP (versus South Africa) AND ANALYSIS

I think in picking a team you also have to consider the playing style and threats your opponents can pose. The South Africans like a fluid and high intensity game from start to finish. They like to play fast and dominate the midfield. They like to maintain the advantage in possession and boss the game.

Them no know their mate?

MIDFIELD & ATTACK
So we need to look to our arsenal and unleash the kind of midfielders that will disrupt their free flowing game. One name comes to mind -- Onazi. The man Ogenyi likes to impose himself and can hardly be bullied. He is the man that must be called to marshal our defensive midfield position once again. Secondly, Etebo. He should play the role he played against Algeria. Etebo can do better whatever Bafana Bafana midfielders bring. Is it speed? Is it dribbles? He will outdo them easily. And then comes Ndidi. What will he bring? The rightful balance with his timely tackles, and his trademark shots when needed. The SE's midfield seems already cut for this kind of opponent. The match up favors Nigeria.

I would also like to throw Iwobi in the mix. I think an opponent like South Africa will give him the perfect chance to express himself. I would like to see him at the rear as Number 10 behind a prong-like attack, to support two strikers upfront -- Iheanacho and Onyekuru/Kayode/Musa.

Musa is one man South Africa dread, besides the absent victor Moses. He could prove a great distraction even if he is not effective in goal this time.

DEFENSE:

With the absense of Balogun. Rohr will want to keep a familiar defense line from our past competitive games. I expect to see Omeuro on Right Back again. But Ebuehi will get his chance maybe from the bench. Awaziem will most likely partner Ekong especially if he makes a strong case against Togo. Echiejile will start. But Yussuf will most likely make a cameo appearance.

GK
The GK department is a toss up among the trio of Akpeyi, Alampasu and Ezenwa

Sometimes stats can be subjective. If Kayode won the top scorer with 17 goals while Henry couldn't win with 24 goals, it simply tells me that the Austrian league is tougher and defences are tighter than the league in Belgium.
Rating a player by the club he plays is not good analysis, when you factor in that the last 2 Premier league Mvps, Mahrez and Kante were playing at a very low level in France just a couple of seasons back before taking the Epl by storm and smashing every record on their way to success.

That does not mean we should lose confidence in our players' abilities.

We will miss Victor Moses. Yes. But we equally have other players who are capable of doing the job. That is my point.

If you read my earlier discussions with Icon79 you'll know I have already warned against complacency in that game.

The words I would use are optimistic caution players abilities are not in question.

The thing is that there is no, better goal scorer n Austrian league not that they have better defence.
don't compare French league and Austrian league or even Belgium, Ligue 1 is ahead of this two. I want them kayode n henry to move to a better league then we can see who is justified to be in the super eagles.

And if you want to cause Hector vs Hercules fight here you ask Michael2 to as usual throw jabs at Mikel And Onazi. Safarigirl go turn Hercules bc of Mikel, flanked By TheGoodJoe and TheSuperNerd.

Talk something negative about Abdul Ajagun, Dominic Solanke and Raheem Lawal and you will beg someone here for forgiveness.

Try discrediting the English academies and their Nigerian products and the TeamAnglo-naija will come at you.

Say something negative about Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatubosun and the TeamNPFL will come for your head.

I hear we have made progress on the FIFA ranking of this month. Currently ranked 38th in the world and 4th in Africa behind Egypt, Senegal and Cameroun in that order.
If we beat South Africa, we could end up inside the top 35 next month by my calculations.

Rohr Explains How”Mu’azam ” Gatecrash Eagles Squad For South Africa Tie

An explanation regarding the inclusion of Alhassan Ibrahim popularly referred to as Mu’azam has been provided by a close aid to the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr.

Mu’azam was the only homebased outfield player retained by the manager in the list released yesterday with Sikiru Olatubosun and Stephen Odey failing to win the heart of the Franco-German coach of the team.

Owngoalnigeria.com gathered from a source close to the coach that the Akwa United forward was by far one of the impressive players in training especially in the role behind the main striker.

He earned a spot in the team thanks to his superb showing against Corsica where he came close to scoring, and was heavily involved in most of the build up of the team for the period he was on the pitch.

However his biggest battle will come in the next few days when competition for shirts becomes fierce ahead of the naming of the 18 man matchday squad for the 10th of June AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against South Africa.
