Parents are given the responsibility to care for their children, not to be sent out to be trained by others, imagine ur teen waiting for an entire term b4 he could discuss his fears and troubles to you in person, letting him take weighty decisions without a parents advice, it's a NO NO for me.

I didn't experience all this, maybe because mine was a private boarding school. Pretty expensive and under populated. It was very easy to control us all, and it was mixed too(boys and girls).

I agree with the hardened heart and breaking of family bond though, boarding school gives this kind independence. You just feel you can do all by yourself...

some boarding schools are hygienic. And you forgot to state that students in boarding schools are way more intelligent than their day student counterparts
Intelligence is not Determined by the School you go to

The breaking of family bound is kind of true. I attended boarding school for a school year, and whenever i returned home, i'd always felt odd around my family, cos alot of memorable momnets would have happened during my absence. Hence, I always fell sick whenever I went back to school, until my parents had to get me out of there and begun going to a day school.

Same unfortunately goes to some relatives of mine. They both attentended boarding school all through out their secondary, and their relationships with their parents...Can't even call that a relationship. They became too independent at an early age.

While it is hard to dispute some of the points you made, there are also good sides to some of ur points. I being an example of one who started out in boarding school quite early till end of my highest degree . And to make it even more interesting, I went to a boys-only secondary school - Loyola College.

I disagree with this post, you must have been at the recieving end of a bad boarding school...you still made it sound like boarding schools are all bad without any good, i went to a boarding school and i'm glad i did...Although i suffered due to senior palavas and other shits...i can proudly say that Boarding school made me, i got to know what life is at a young age...i even went to a federal govt college where almost everything is worse...feeding and the likes, and i still cherish those memories....@Op person wey go bad go bad, tiz not only boarding skul that can mar you, day skuls shud nt be ruled out...

I would never send my kids to boarding school.
Especially at tender age. Even Campus scares me.

Let them be going to school from house where I can monitor them and train them the way I want.

Seriously, how can parents be sending their kids, especially girl child to boarding schools
I have, and will never be a fan of that.
closing your doors at night does not prevent evil attack. A child who want to spoil will spoil it doesn't matter whether a boarding or day students. We all got spoilt in the boarding school, but as u grow, u decide what best for u

Very true op. I remember my experiences back then. Was really horid. We drank rain water and our only source of water were the rivers around namely
*bee(because close to the stream there were lots of bee nests)
*tea(the colour of the stream)
*girls stream
*bridge(had a log bridge across)

Only drug in the school pharmacy was paracetamol
Bullying was free for all.....

I'm not angel but I would have been a much better person if i had not schooled there.... Even typing it makes me reminisce on the evil experiences...

The only person that can mention such streams is if u went to international secondary school uturu. I hail oh

My daughter is in boarding school, and I am happy she is there. The difference is clear. Intelligence, focused, not materialistic, read ofteN. Those traits u listed, I have not observed. So do your research well before spuring out trash, right!

And I'm about to send two of my boys to boarding school by october. Though, most of the listedpoint may not be applicable as it's a private school.

The first is already 13 and going to ss1 while the second born is already 10 and going to jss2.

Day student in the same school and want to move them to boarding of the same school for my wife to have less to attend to in the house.

Op, i hope the move is not too bad. I want my wife to have more time for herself.

I went to boarding school and it badly affected me.

Train your child at home ( Deuteronomy 6:6-9)

Its the best policy

The OP is right, with no parental figure in sight, the senior thug
student, under the threat of constant abuse, assume the role of parents
and influence the junior ones into cultism and homosexual lifestyle.

No parents ever know what really goes on with their kids in boarding
school, only the assistant parents, the senior students, know such secrets.

The worse boarding schools are the ones owned by government,i attended one in Abuja a unisex one for that matter,i arrived as a humble God fearing young man,i left as a thug. i learned how to Bleep, smoke weed and steal. With alot of hunger,i met a total freedom that was absent at home, thesame with many others,i can't send my children to such schools, to be raise by thugs and prostitutes.

No, I don't believe that mindset.
A child who has been trained from his or her parents on core and basic values will less likely go astray than a child who was dumped in the boarding school for other people to train.

Train up a child the way he should grow. start when they are little and they will not go astray.
only 4 out of 10 home trained kids end up spoiled.
