edoyad: So why is the same light rail in Addis Ababa working after three years of construction with less money? Why did Ambode say it would be ready after 18 months in 2015 despite billions of dollars spent since 2010? Why I reached out to Igbo voters –Ambode, Lagos APC governorship candidate |

jefy: Rivers State people and indeed the entire Niger Delta region are our own worst enemy. They are so myopic and full of hate for any project that does not put money in their pockets. Don't be shocked to find that some of the people here commending this mickey mouse project are the same people that criticised Amaechi's Monorail project which is a more feasible and beneficial project compared to this. 1 Like |

seguno2: When comparing two projects it would be good to present the facts and peculiarity of both projects. Example; What is the length and capacity of both projects. What terrain do both projects have to go through. Lagos rail project has to find a route because none was provided for it initially, is this the same for the Adidis Ababa rail or did they already have a route marked down for it from before the project. Lagos States rail project is such an ambitious project in Nigeria that only the third mainland bridge project compares in scale and complexity. |

MadCow1: The Addis Ababa light rail project started from scratch and similarly on raised platform. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Addis_Ababa_Light_Rail It was not only done within FOUR years of being started, it was also done by the same Chinese for a fraction of the billions of dollars so far spent by the APC duo of Fashola and Ambode under the auspices of their greedy godfather, Tinubu. BTW, do you know why deprived citizens are reluctant to make their leaders accountable to them? Could it be something similar to the Stockholm syndrome? |

Re: Osinbajo Commissions Calabar Monorail (Photos) by MadCow1: 8:26am On Jun 02, 2017 |
seguno2: I am not against accountability.. And Stockholm syndrome does not even begin to apply here at all. I am coming purely from an engineering standpoint. Just because two buildings look alike does not mean they both had the same engineering and design challenges in their pre-engineering stage. So like I asked, what's the length of the Adis Ababa rail and what is that of Lagos. When I asked about the provisions, I am speaking of the challenges Amaechi faced with the Port Harcourt Monorail project which was not provided for in the master plan of the city and thus they had to breakdown existing structures and pay a ton in compensation for same just to get the right access. I believe Lagos has had to face similar challenges with theirs as well including having to redesign, adjust and reconstruct entire highways and all. This does not even begin to factor in the cost of those negotiations and legal gymnastics as most of those roads are Federal Roads and States can't alter them without consent. What about the EIA scope of both projects? I know Lagos State would have had to do some extensive EIA survey especially as theirs runs through Water and several points. Basically, we must first find the similarities and differences between both projects and then outline the different constraints both projects have had to face to come to a proper comparison let's we end up comparing apples and oranges. Another factor that can affect a project is Government stability and economy. Most foreign Contractors in their pricing make adjustments for anticipated issues that may arise in this regard. Example, between the time the Lagos rail project was started and today, the variation and stability of our currency has been quite unstable which may even have already given rise to variations in the Contract price. Not forgetting the complications too that change in Government brings as well. In conclusion, you need to have your facts to hand before making such comparisons. 1 Like |

Mono rail that have zero impact on the life of the masses of cross river state. 900m from Tinapa to the ICC building and strictly for tinapa residents who have business at the ICC. Residents that do not exist at present. After this commissioning the mono rail will sit idle because there are no passengers. It is a shame that some cross riverians are applauding this project. Guess these are the one that hardly visited home ion the past 20 years. See image below:
