You dey mind eruditor... if Fraudiola fails next season... he'll come up to tell us that pep didn't get the players he wanted...

Na silly excuse... Arsenal have been looking for a mad striker since Van P... and still we didn't end our season trophyless...

We didn't get Lacazette, Benzema, Suarez... what did we do... we dealt with it... City is complaining about full backs... they didn't win anything because their full backs are over 30 years old... Wetin make Juvey talk...

How old was Abidal and Lahm... And Pep still manage them... this pep fans are just deluded...

Most of their losses this season was caused by goalkeepers.... not full backs... goalkeepers!!!

You are the one deluded but it is an Arsenal syndrome so I don't hold it against you. Before, to you, a successful season was finishing 3rd or 4th and winning the FA Cup. This season you won only the FA Cup but still consider yourself successful even when playing in the UCL next season was your target and you did not achieve it. You lost 10-2 to Bayern, were 18pts behind CFC and crashed out of the Carling Cup to Southampton at the emirates stadium yet you still consider your season successful. LOL

If Pep fails next season? There is no if. He would win it. What part of "he would win it" don't you understand?

Uncle Bravo nko...?!!!

Bravo has done better in his career than Hart.

In case you're forgetting he won 2 copa America with Chile while Hart was fumbling vs Iceland. That's if we don't include his Barcelona performance

Last season he signed those he needed,- Bravo, Stones, Sane, Jesus, Gundugan, despite inheriting a strong squad, yet he won nothing. How are we so sure he will win next season?

which strong squad did he inherit. The strong squad that finished the league 4th with 66 points. The strong team finished level with man utd lvg team that everyone claimed to be a failure

Are you implying that there were no improvements from what Pellegrini achieved?

He inherited a squad, added to them, yet did nothing extra.

No, Pellegrini won the League Cup.

What was the position and point total under Pellegrini vs under Guardiola

League cup? The tournament others use reserve team for? The worst trophy and waste of time

Eruditor:

This is your own narrative. The squad they inherited was not strong. They were 4th with 66points. Hammered by the top 6 teams and conceded a ton of goals. Getting to the UCL semis just made up for a terrible season.

It was clear they needed marauding fullbacks and another CB. Kompany was out for most of the season - their improvements when he returned is evident. Also, CFC overperformed winning 13 straight games. Notice, after those 13 games, the W and L column between CFC and the rest of the top 4 teams became similar.

Of course, Bravo did not do a good job (but it was clear they needed to improve on Hart). Anybody arguing that fact is just debate-hungry. Also Gab Jesus and Gundögan absence and injuries did not help either. MOST OF THE REST OF THE OTHER PLAYERS ARE STILL ADJUSTING TO PEP's STYLE.

My confidence in him this term is because [s]with early transfers he would have time to work with his players [/s] before the season begins. It also stems from the fact that he is plugging the areas I saw they were clearly deficient in personnel-wise. The last reason is because I believe his way of playing is more impregnable than Mou, Klopp, Poch or Conte's style when his team gets it right.

PS: he trivialized the Carling Cup and fielded his reserves against United at OT. They were never going to win the UCL but they crashed out having tied scores with a Monaco that not only won a Ligue title but got to the semis of the UCL. The only 2 trophies he "failed" in really are the EPL and FA Cup. And he lost in the FA Cup Semis to the eventual winners. Big deal.

The emboldened is an irresponsible statement. What if Pep reached the UCL semis, would you called it a way to managed a failed season? Well Pep's first season was a failure, yet he couldn't manage it.

The over ruled statement, lacks objectivity. Pep was announced 6months before that season ended. He signed 2 players within his first week. Early signing has not convinced me about Pep.

Don't get it twisted, Pep is a great manager but he is yet to prove he is better than the likes of Klopp, Poch, Conte, Mou and Wenger offcourse.

fraudiola think epl is a merry go round, if he beat the top teams sef we have minnows who will spoil market for him
Let him buy all the players next season so that when he fucck up winning the league, he won't have any excuse.

he probably still think EPL is like La liga and Bundesliga where he's sure of steamrolling pass every team.

Nah, your own question is irresponsible. So why do you consider Poch's season a success even when he did not win anything?

LOL @ objectivity. Is there any difference between Xhaka of August and the one of April/May? Care to tell me what that difference is if it exists?

LOL. Someone bought one player for £89M and finished 6th but he did not fail because he qualified his team for the UCL. Another one finished 3rd and qualified for the same UCL but he failed because he drew 6-6 with Monaco and crashed out while the other one parked the bus against Celts and Ajax to win a trophy he said was beneath his previous club.

Honestly I don't see how City improved from last season.

Points?

Arsenal won more points this season than last season. You call that improvement? Well we finished second last season. Now compare.

Based on expectations, one cannot say Poch was a failure. No body expected Tottenham to win the league.

Based on expectations, Pep's season was a failure. Everybody (or didn't you?) thought Pep would win a treble (or at least win something).

Why the EPL? why not the UCL? a 'top rated' coach like him should be gunning to WIN THE UCL every SEASON.

after all, a rookie, first time coach like Zidane already has a UCL trophy in just under two years of top class coaching and is on course for another. plus he already has a league trophy.

isn't Gaurdiola supposed to be better than him? yet he's busy dragging league trophy with lowly rated coach. undecided

note: I'm not saying winning the EPL is not something, but a supposed 'coaching god' like Apari Gaurdiola should be aiming for bigger things, the UCL. no?
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by Lincolnn2: 9:13am On Jun 03, 2017
I'm willing to bet with anyone Pep's fanboys that Gaurdiola won't win the EPL next season, although I see him doing well, better in the UCL next season. He and his players just won't have to mental, physical strength to sustain a league title charge next season. I'm staking a bet of £30 on Gaurdiola not winning the EPL next season. Eruditor, Raumdeuter, Sebod, anyone willing to bet?

Pellegrini took city to a champions league semi last season, but Pep couldn't even make it past the round of 16.

Is that what Raumdeuter calls improvement? Despite inheriting a very good squad and spending hugely in the transfer market.

That is how he reduced a treble winning bayern, to just bundesliga champions back to back to back.. a feat my grandmother would easily achieve given the lack of competition in that league.
