rubbish, so does that justify high cost of it for a project of which 90% of the total cost was payed and sourced from China ,for a poor country like Kenya?,how about Abuja-kaduna sgr(198km) which cost $860 millions (not billions?), kenya - Mombasa (400km) cost a whopping $3.84 billllllllllioooooooooons.!!!!!
the whole of Nigeria sgr projects contract for the 2, 733km (now 3053km )new Lagos - Kano rail was first awarded by former Presidential Olusegun Obasanjo in 2006 at a cost of $8. 3bn to the Chinese company ( CCECC ) but could not be executed due to paucity of funds. but now going on and now $11.1billions with addition extension of calabar section and port Harcourt...kenya is damn doomed my friends , please stop comparing stations with actual construction any body can build such ,all u need is good architects and builder

These two photos below are enough justification for the higher cost of Kenyan SGR. A twelve year kid can see this.....very obvious.

Actually the biggest project in Kenya would be the Lapsset project... Price tag $30 billion
you should first pay Chinese contractors their $3.65 billions first, then now think about konza city then lapsset($30 billion ).

I don't get you, Certenary city Abuja would be a whole new city, hosting more than 400 thousand people and many more visitors, and would cost about 18 Billion Dollars.

In Africa we have so many of this Cities but we all know some of them will never start, others will never compete and those that will complete they may be enjoyed by the next Generation..

we are proud of what we currently have.. Am really impressed by my fellow kenyans for their maturity...
we have
1.Konza City
2.Tatu City
3.Machakos City
3.Mombasa with some....
4.About 5 counties have such projects..

But no one is talking about this... Coz we love final work

Mombasa port is the 2nd buzziest port in Africa by TEU throughput and tonnage, the new Lamu port under construction will be bigger than Mombasa!

https://businesstech.co.za/news/general/81995/africas-biggest-shipping-ports/?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C9364260156

What is the value of the goods coming into the port?

Is it as much as what we import/export here in Nigeria?

Stop deceiving yourself

lol. the proposed fourt mainlandbrige is estimated to cost the federal govt a price of 844 billion naira which is close to 140 billion dollar or more Imagine the price and worth of the third mainland bridge if it shouild be this time around.

Haven't you seen the pics of what you called city? Compare the size to what we call a city?

Only Egypt is trying to build something similar in Africa.

$860M for an SGR. Cheap infrastructure. No wonder your stations look like Barrack Dormitories and all your infrastructure look cheap. Compare Lagos infrastructure to Nairobi's - Lagos looks so cheap.
lol if Lagos is cheap then Kenya has no value , cos last time I checked, Lagos is worth more than Kenya grin grin

The combined population (about 130 million) of all those countries that transit cargo goes to through the mombasa port is not more than the population of Nigeria alone (180 million) .. Besides its not like Nigerian ports don't handle cargo for landlocked countries such as Niger and Chad
That is the point man, those countries are not economic viable countries, they have nothing to offer, there are all over here as immigrants begging all over the street, they are like pests to us cos they depend on us for almost everything, Nigeria is like their America, very poor countries who lead in the lowest form of HDI ratings in the world, now be the judge and tell me how such countries that people struggle to survive would have anything to do with the port.. No thanks to ECOWAS!

So Nija does not boarder Landlocked countries?... Btw Nija alone has more population than all the East African Countries Combined...

Nigerians will give all sort of excuses for all the good things happening to Kenya just to justify their shortcoming..

I had already clarified the issue of landlocked countries bordering us, Niger and Chad aren't economic viable countries, again they border the North which is far from the South where the ports are located. For the population factor you are bringing in, have it in mind that there has been a ban on importation of recent, we encourage home made goods, besides I wasn't giving any excuse, just stated the obvious fact which I even attested is of benefit to you guys.

Nigeria's SGR operating speed is less than 100km/hr. Stop quoting the top speed as the operating speed. Your top speef is 100km/hr. Kenya's top speed is 160km/hr. Operating speed for passenger train is 120km/hr.

it is either you failed to use the working part of your falculty or it is faulty. what am doing is comparism .the fourt mainland bridge as an example of what it might cost the govt to implement it. The third mainland bride is the still the most largest project ever embark by the federal govt.

That's just part of our project and part of your project because I can't post photos of the whole project here but it clearly shows Kenya's SGR is of better quality than Nigeria's in every way. Starting with modernity, quality of buildings, top speed, amount of cargo etc.

nigga, the most important thing is having well laid tracks and trains and well functioning stations not to have stations were it could get spoilt within short period of time, kenya may have better train stations but u have worst train cars for a project with high prize tag ($3.8billion ).
now compare the trains
1-2 Kenyan trains ,3-4 Nigerian trains

Those trains carry more weight and travel faster than your trains and our tracks can support more tonnes annually than yours. Our stations will obviously function better than yours - Kenya doesn't have top notch maintenance culture but it's definitely way better than Nigeria.
