If there is one thing I've learnt about troublesome personalities (people that are free with slurs and would deliberate provoke hostilities for fun), it's you don't engage with them directly or return fire with fire, cuz, they won't only succeed in dragging you to their level, but would easily beat you with experience.

What saddens me most about most tvshows with a potential to be great is that they all start very well and along the line gradually loses the plot and becomes rubbish
Season 1 is in most cases usually the best, season 2 may follow up a bit but thereafter it all becomes a joke, another piece of crap

And that's what makes these shows in a different caliber compared to the rest

I think Ed already knew but in self denial. Remember when Madaline tried to 'fess up and he told her he didn't wanna know? Then, at the trivial night, he caught Madaline exchange furtive glances with Joseph - it was a split second thing but he caught on. Then, he tried to pick a fight with Nathan in order to deflect.

Yeah, he's clearly sexually attracted to his step-daughter, which is a hyper fvcked up situation, but Ed been Ed, he would have probably repressed the hell out of that sh*t.

But yeah, character development and further plot exploration would have answered many of those questions you asked, but I'm surprise you didn't ask the obvious:

Will Bonnie get away with Perry's murder (even if it's in self defence). Will the detective spying on the women at the beach with binoculars eventually uncover the conspiracy? And I would have liked to see Ed finally throw down with Nathan (they don't like each other at all, do they?)

Alas, I guess we will never know.
