Copied from Canada Visa

Visa Office :
Dear Sir/Madam,
This is in response to your recent email enquiry to the Immigration Section of the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi.
Acceptable proof of funds are:
-bank accounts in your name or the name of your accompanying spouse/common-law partner;
-cashable investments in your name or the name of your accompanying spouse/common-law partner;
-cashable fixed deposits in your name of the name of your accompanying spouse/common-law partner.
Not acceptable are:
-bank accounts in someone else's name;
-bank accounts which are joint in your name and someone else (other than your accompanying spouse/common-law partner);
-bank accounts in the name of your spouse who is not accompanying you to Canada ;
-property valuations;
-vehicle valuations;
-jewellery valuations.
You are not required to carry your funds in cash when you arrive in Canada. You are, however, required to show documentary evidence that you have the funds available (in bank accounts or cashable investments), and that they can be transferred to Canada.
A port of entry officer in Canada may seek to confirm these funds before granting you permanent residence along with your dependants.

Dear gurus, I greet o

1. I have a TBILL in my business name which is a sole proprietor. It is me trading under the guise of another name.
If the bank gives me reference letter stating that it is a sole signatory account and I have unlimited access to the funds wouldn't it be acceptable as POF

2. My spouse is yet to change her maiden name because we got married 3months ago. Would I need to process the name change before applying or just continue with her information as is on my EE profile

Thanks

I've been following this thread for a while. This is however my first post.

I'm sorry if the question is redundant.

1. I want to apply for WES for my BSc. I would like to know if I can ask that the report be sent to a friend in US. Am I going to need only the softcopy?? cheesy This is in a bid to cut cost. Kindly help clarify.

2. I am currently preparing for IELTS and plans to write the exam next month. Is there any hint as to getting high scores. I saw someone mentioning not indicating purpose of writing. I'm gunning for band 8. I've written TOEFL before and scored 102 hence the confidence. I'm single with 3+ years of experience and hope to leverage on the test.

3. I have age discrepancies in several of my documents (criticism is allowed smiley I really never knew by BD). My International Passport bears Bleep while my WAEC and BSc transcript contained yyy. I've been trying to stick with the age in my International passport for most international applications. Can someone please educate how to navigate these challenges.

In a business enterprise, you and your business are the same. It does not have a legal identity of its own. I think, my opinion, you can make an argument based on this. However, are you apply for FSW? I will also suggest you seek the wise counsel of an immigration lawyer especially if you are applying as a FSW

2. My spouse is yet to change her maiden name because we got married 3months ago. Would I need to process the name change before applying or just continue with her information as is on my EE profile

Your wife should effect the change of name immediately because she is answering another name which is your last name and there is the need to upload legal document to show this. Marriage certificate, affidavit of name change plus newspapers clippings informing the public of name change is sufficient here

Thanks

I will only express my opinion on question 3. Others have been thoroughly explained. If you read the thread, you will find your answer.

Your real date of birth is the one on your international passport - this is the age you are informing the general public and international world about. you are not required to submit a birth certificate, only kids are and this is to show evidence of parental links to the child. Also, you are not mandated to submit transcript, your education certificate is sufficient - this indicate prove that you have completed the degree in good standing and obtained documentary evidence to show for it. However, if you choose to submit your transcript, which is optional, you must address the discrepancies in your D.O.B - for this an affidavit can be done and your LOE (letter of explanation) would indicate that it was an error from you school. Alternatively, since you are yet to commence the process - you can quickly go to your school with your international passport and swore affidavit and a strong face telling them they made an error in your date of birth and it should be corrected.

On the POF, it's like everyone wants to talk but no one wants to listen.

1.If you are the Principal applicant, the POF must be uploaded by you from your account. This is the RULE as stated by CIC.

2.If the money is coming from your spouse via a transfer of funds, the logical thing to do is to write a LOE to explain the transfer and you can also add the spouse bank statement and a gift deed . Why do I say it's logical this is because you have to put your self in the position of the VO and try to play out the scenario. I don't know anyone personally who has gone to canada so I don't have first hand information.

3.if you also want to leave the money in the accompanying spouse account and submit the statement together with yours adding a LOE all well and good.
4.you see no 1is the approved method, any other method is at your peril. Let's try not to say these things as if it's the set rules. If I were to be in this position I would follow the rules as stated by CIC.

One last question please, with the constant change in exchange rate will this affect the proof of fund submitted by the time the documents are been examined?

Okay, so I'm wondering, whilst we all agree that it's better NYSC falls under personal history, is it wise to mention 'NYSC' at all, or just provide the name of the organisation & job description? Thanks....

Can anything less than 800k be referred to as lump sum? Wanna transfer about 500k to my husband and this will reflect in the bank statement. Is this questionable?

Please we need to stop this! We just finished explaining this on a WhatsApp forum only to come back here and see the same thing again.

Your accompanying spouse can have the POF. What is the difference between the accompanying spouse submitting their statement of account after transferring to their partner and explaining in LOE and the spouse just submitting the statement of account and explain with LOE. The details, passport, digital photo, personal history, travel history, family relatives, education and even work experience of this spouse has been captured and documentary evidences provided. Finally, you have indicated that this accompanying spouse is coming with you to Canada and that means he/she is BRINGING THAT MONEY TO CANADA FOR CHRIST SAKE! JESUS!!!

Thing is, you may be very comfortable to do this, some people may not, they stick to what's written on paper. I personally don't see the difference between POF being in an accompanying spouse account and him/her transferring it and writing LOE, but if it's what's required then why not? Its very simple to do.
Go ahead with whatever you can defend, show that you have that money available to you that's what matters.

As for the guy with company account, is it Biz name registration?

Depends on the regular inflow... If the account has such amount and above deposited regularly, then its no lump sum. By the way is he the Principal applicant? If he is, you can transfer the whole money and explain with LOE.

I see that the pain of most people is proof of funds. Permit me to chip this in as "expert" in this process, who has consulted for others and obtained their Residency Status
Your Pension Fund Statement is acceptable. Moving money up and down will not help your matter, it will only raise red flags.
I can provide further clarification if you need one.
PS. I am not so conversant with how this Nairaland works

Please what are the requirements to travel to Canada as a skilled worker? I read that People who are skilled in dress making and leather works will easily get their visa. How true is this because I possess the above mentioned skills. I dropped out of the University in my finals becsuse of funds so, I am not a graduate. How do I go about the visa procurement?

@ymummy234 - hahahaha but you only submitted yesterday, right..? I think you should take a chill pill and get your mind off it for now. Use the strategy below -

from now: Don't think about it & avoid checking your profile (often)
16th July - 6th August (6/9 weeks post AoR): Start thinking about it
Week commencing 7th August - Be very expectant cheesy
Week commencing 14th August - start getting worried (but I know it wouldn't get to that wink just kidding)

Thank you @optionese.
@boss13 stop trying to shove a pill down people's throats. You are not IRCC or a VO. No one here makes the guidelines, only IRCC does. The guideline clearly states that the account should bear the name of the PA.
If my spouse has the funds and is willing to put them towards pof, then why can't he/she send the funds to my account? A VO is at liberty to think this way or not. Neither you nor I can say.
There is a rule on pof and I posted the screen shot from the cic website in my previous post. Stop trying to be an authority when you are not.

There was a time during student visa applications to the UK and other countries from Nigeria, embassies would very willingly grant visas to intending students with their sponsors bank statements, proof of source of income and letter of sponsorship. There was also a time when the same UK embassy would require that the funds for the student MUST be available in the students account prior to visa application. Even if the sponsor of said student is the parent.

We must at all times remember that Nigerians are always treated with special scrutiny during visa applications, no thanks to our fellow citizens who have knowingly and unknowingly broken the rules before. Also our reputation as a "fraudulent" country does not help.

Sticking to IRCC rules is the way to go. In addition, if you read my timeline you'll see that my pof was accompanied by a long LOE. My spouse transferred some of the required funds to my account and my loe as well as his clearly stated to the VO that it was done so as to comply with the rules as stated in the IRCC guideline regarding POF. All bank transfers for said purpose had documentary evidence as well as his source of income via documentary evidence of his current job. I had no issues with my application. In fact, I submitted my app on Nov 7th or so and gcms shows PR was approved on Dec 30th.

I have no personal experience of any Nigerian who has successfully used a spouse's account as pof. I have only read of other nationalities.

Enough talk on this issue. Let each applicant do as he/she seems fit.

Sir, there is no rule. A rule is something you cannot deviate from. There is the principle of you having a minimum amount for your family size. This amount can be higher than the minimum stipulated amount

2.If the money is coming from your spouse via a transfer of funds, the logical thing to do is to write a LOE to explain the transfer and you can also add the spouse bank statement and a gift deed . In the eyes of the law. A man and his wife are one. So why gift yourself what you already have. This same law is applicable in Canada and even for common law partner, people who are not even legally married but co-habit. What is the essence of transferring money to you spouse other than to disguise the source

I don't want to sound arrogant, but the reason I've been too pushy about this is the continuous insistence of the Principal Applicant having POF ONLY in their account and I have read conflicting and confusion argument over this and I want people to see the flexibility and not be restricted with limited choices - especially with the use of gift deeds
