I need help on the name if this killer poultry disease. I had 50 Noilers and 20 black layers i was breeding together and everything was going well till yesterday morning.

I thought it was Cocci, but i am not sure anymore cos of the rate at which they are dying. 5 Died yesterday, and when i woke up, another 5 had died. And like a dozen look like they are about to die.

I have been giving them Embazin, but there seems to be no improvements.

Symptoms are below...

*Closed eyes
*Standing in a position like they are cold
*Making chipping sounds loudly

sorry for your loss bro. I heard news about an outbreak of birdflu a day ago. I hope its not that. well let me suggest you try a change of environment for the birds and see if there is any improvement.

What made you think its cocci? What's the poo like? Your vaccination history. Pictures will help too. I suspect crd for now. Any previous symptom?

i am not a farmer but I think you should separate the sick ones from the ones that are perfectly ok asap.

Yea, i have done that...or should i say, i am doing that. Once i seperate some, in the next couple of hours, i would see more sick ones among the ones that werent sick before.

About vaccination, i think that is where the problem came from. I have been traveling a lot and handed the responsibility over to my brother, and just found out he hasnt vaccinated them. They are 4 weeks by the way. I didnt take this too seriously as i have raised Noilers (no typo) multiple times and never vaccinated them cos of their reaiatance to disease. The mistake i made this time was mixing Noilers with black layers.

bros its NEWCASTLE
if you look well you will see white poo
as you know newcastle is stubborn it cause almost 100% motrlity and its effect with 24hrs
i suggest you look for strong antibiotic +virucine, remove the birds and disinfect the cage with diluted Hypo and wait.

i once put 50noilers, at about 5weeks this disease attack it only leave 18 female bird for me all within48 hrs

sorry4 d loss but remember to always vaccinate against gumboro, newcastle

Which breed of chickens did you mix the Noilers with? Or were they alone in the cage?

His own case could be Newcastle due to the respiratory distress and the mortality pattern but your own was gumboro if you ask me. The mortality is so fast and it comes with whitish diarrhoea too with high morbidity.
Re: Please What Could Be Killing My Chickens? by Jofez: 7:46am On Jun 05, 2017
@kayo while waiting for the pictures I guess you do the isolation and give special attention to them. Do a Little post mortem examination. Check the tigh muscle(for gumboro) and proventiculus(for Newcastle) for hemorrhages. Admacine + oxyfuravit/kepro NCO will help for now

Are you sure it is Cossidiosis? It might be Newcastle disease...I also thought what hit my pen was Cossidiosis until some people enlightened me here.

Anyway, concerming treatment, i have treated mine with Antibiotics this morning and they are improving fast.

bro k the disease is most likely gumboro disease. i have once experienced it. they were dying in drones. i would advice you visit a vet doctor for test and confirm it but in the interim i would suggest you isolate first and avoid using any vaccine or drug on them rather you can use combination of intracox and iodasteryl solution for them while you await the result of the test.
the white faeces is simply the urine of birds and its not coccidiosis or newcastle disease. for newcastle disease the faeces is usually green and the birds neck ll be twisting in 270 to 360 degree manner usually in standing position

why not try organic poultry farming. its simply the way to go. you dont have to bother yourself over those vaccination that kill the birds whether directly or indirectly

Is Organic tested and trusted? I would really love to go that way, cos for real, i hate the idea of using one vaccine or the other, one drug to the other on chickens human beings are going to end up eating.

When last did you vaccinate those birds?,I think you should vaccinate them against gumboro then give them vitamins and antibiotic.

i only keep noilers in the cage before the NEWCASTLE attack
i call my vet doctor ,and he confirm a newcastle

my Advise to all those that want to keep noilers is....
NOILERS can be deceptively healthy from week1 to week 3 and are very resistive to diseases ,but from week4 to week6 be carefull if you didnt vaccinate them gumboro or newcastle like i said before newcastle can wipe out the whole farm in 48hrs

Kayo080-What antibiotics did you use?
I noticed a bulge with a little twist to the side on the neck of one of the chicks yesterday, she's still doing good as at this morning.the poo is hard but looks a little greenish.is this a symptom of cossidiosis or Newcastle?

Thanks ninja... but are you practising organic?and how sure are you about this organic treatment?it sounds good though and it's a risk that is worth taking.im just a bit skeptical about it cos I don't want to gamble with my birds. maybe we should start going organic guy!

I fail to see how organic farming will magically prevent or cure these diseases.
