That is a TOTALLY WRONG ANALOGY check what Ronaldo was doing at Cruziero at 17 /18 scoring 44 goals out of 47 games. Is simply phenomenal. The whole of the creme de La creme in European football were waiting to buy him.

The only reason he didn't play was the small matter of the Great Romario.

Ginola had a personal issues with coach that was well publicised.

When you say a player is EXCEPTIONAL TALENT it's not only one pair of eyes that can see him. Secondly talent is usually not just speculated upon but is established for all to see.

When a coach decides to use a unit of measurement known to himself alone that is UNFAIR. In reality it's the basis for abuse.

There are other players that are far more deserving who could possibly have claimed position but are now denied. Most people want competition for shirts not undue favoritism.
That unit of unknown is called instincts. It cannot be measured. Not everything in life yields to the drabness of scientific measurement and empirical evidence. Too much emphasis on what can be measured in modern day football is what is gradually turning this beautiful artistic game into a cold thing full of numbers, statistics and measurements.

On the Osihmen debate! Here is my take. Please before you criticize Rohr's decision put yourself in his shoes. This is what I feel he is doing. He is building the team for the now with an eye on the future. Osihmen is our 3rd choice striker now n my guess is that slot is reserved for our best youth team striker. Awoniyi and orji will come to mind but osihmen is at a higher playing level than both coupled with the fact that he is the poster boy of the nff thus he will always get the call up to train with the team. That is what he is there for..for drills..it is a no brainer. You can't call up an ideye or ighalo or a newbie to sit as 3rd choice striker in a lone striker system when you are still running the rule over a top potential like osihmen. Same idea goes for alampasu and awaziem. They are been eased into d nt environment gently. So please do not expect them to start yet. I just love this Rohr.
For the ajagun matter I got no comments abeg. That one na mumu debate. You want to call up an old man to replace who? Who is he better than? Keshi 2014 all over again abi? You want questionable team selections abi? Rohr has a master plan for Nigeria nd he will implement to the fullest. Sorry if you can't see it. You go just they shout up nd down. It won't change anything.

If we were talking about Gambia or Seychelles I would have understood. But we are talking about Nigeria, do you know how many top goal scorers at the u17 level we have produced down the years?
What's so special about scoring at the u17 anyway? Synema Pogolle used to the the record holder of the most goals at the U17 level till Souleymane Coulibally equalled the record in 2011. What did scoring goals at the u17 help Synema Pogolle achieve in his career? How about Coulibally? I hear he plays for Al Ahli these days. That's a far cry from his days breaking goals records at the u17s.

Till Osimhen starts producing at wolfsburg, his invite will always be questionable with an asterisks

Please, Pongolle was a fantastic talent. It was a serious injury that ruined his career. As big as Nigeria is as you make it, why are we finding it difficult producing a talent like Okocha. Food for thought. Wash the plates after eating.

The Ivory Coast midfielder, who made more than 150 appearances for the Magpies between 2010 and 2017, was training with his current club, Bejiing Enterprises, on Monday when he collapsed.
He was taken to hospital but sadly passed away. Cheick cemented his place in Newcastle folklore with his dramatic equaliser in the 4-4 draw against Arsenal in February 2011.

Tiote scored just once for Newcastle - in a memorable 4-4 draw with Arsenal
Ex-Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse wrote: 'Goodnight brother, You will be missed. My heart goes out to his family. Gone too soon.'
The Ivorian midfielder made 156 appearances for Newcastle after signing from Dutch club FC Twente for £3.5million in 2010.
Tiote scored just one goal for the Magpies but it will live long in the memories of Newcastle supporters, having secured a point in a remarkable 4-4 draw with Arsenal.
He represented his country at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and was part of the Africa Cup of Nations-winning Ivory Coast squad in 2015.
His final Toon appearance came in an FA Cup clash with Birmingham in January, after which he moved to Asia to sign for Beijing Enterprises Group.

I can't comment much about his u20 performance because I've not watched any of the games. But I know he started the tournament as a sub. I now see he starts even even in the knockout stage and England is progressing. I'm sure he will be demoted if he is 5.5 kind of player. As regards sideways passes, we can't be sure he is not playing to instruction to hold possession. The Ejaria I know in Liverpool is not full of sideways passes. Now we are talking premier league verses U-20 World Cup.

If you read my logic about limelight in our Orji vs Osimhen argument you will get the point. Even in other spheres of life timing is a big factor.
Osihmen got to limelight after scoring a record 10 goals at the U17 WC. Subsequent coaches ran the rule over him and were very impressed.
Rohr inherited the idea of Osimhen. Watched him in training and was convinced he is a prodigy. The boy has already made a solid impression.
It will take a season of failure for his light to fade. If it bothers you so much that he gets invitation, I'm sorry you are going to be troubled for a long spell, ESPECIALLY when the boy starts showing his stuff in Wolfsburg. Awoniyi kept making the matchday squad and was fielded consistently despite his inability to score in the Eredivisie. It took him a few final games to prove that he is not finished yet. Both NEC coaches were not fools. You can's see what they see by being an internet coach.

Internet coach-speculations, opinions, second hand information, surmises, approximations, guesses etc. These things are good in their own place and as fans sometimes that's the best we can offer but It can never ever be
equated to the living experience of the coach and his players. Coaches will fall or stand by their decisions. God help Rohr.

Bafana Nursing Niggling Injuries

Bafana Bafana are still awaiting three player's
arrival in camp, while seven others are carrying
injuries ahead of their opening Africa Cup of
Nations qualifier against Nigeria.
The team reported for duty at the Southern Sun
hotel at Monte Casino, Fourways, in the north of
Johannesburg last night.

Coach Stuart Baxter confirmed that 22 of his
charges are present for their first training session
at the FNB Stadium on Monday afternoon, with
the remaining three expected to arrive later
today.

“Most of the squad have reported for camp,
while the SuperSport United players are still on
their way back from their CAF commitments,”
confirmed Baxter on Monday afternoon.

"Dean Furman and Ronwen Williams will be here
soon, while Bongani Zungu had a problem with
his flight but he’s currently on his way as well,”
added the Brit, who has appointed Bidvest Wits
skipper Thulani Hlatshwayo as his captain.
Meanwhile, Bafana team doctor Thulani
Ngwenya has recorded injuries to seven players
following their opening day assessments, but
replacements are unlikely as he remains hopeful
of successful treatment before the match in Uyo
on Saturday.

“Lebogang Mnayama has a right-knee injury,
which is actually one he has been carrying for a
some time while receiving treatment, and we will
continue to monitor and treat him,” said
Ngwenya.

“Andile Jali picked up an injury to his right-side
groin muscle during his club side's last game
and because he had to fly in for camp, he hasn’t
t received any treatment. We will begin treatment
and expect some improvement.

“Tokelo Rantie also got injured in his last game
with his club, he has a bone contusion on his
right-side big toe, which we will be treating. But
he is also carrying an injury to his right knee,
which requires a scan.

“Tiyani Mabunda was out for three weeks with a
sprained ankle and has been recovering. We will
continue with treatment but he will be fine.
“Aubrey Ngoma has a groin injury that he has
been receiving treatment at his club and we will
continue to monitor him.

“Rivaldo Coetzee picked up a hamstring injury at
his club and has been recovering. We’ve picked
up that he is not 100 percent and has some
restrictions but he will undergo a scan and
treatment.
“Lastly Erick Mathoho suffered a concussion in
training with at his club but he has shown
improvement. We will monitor his progress." http://www.kickoff.com/mobile/news/75872/bafana-player-update-ahead-of-afcon-qualifier-with-nigeria

Initially it was reported that Kayode's and Onyekuru's names were missing from the initial list.
Alot of eye brows were raised. Dont tell me you've forgotten.

Much is expected of Osimhen obviously, but I have seen you argue that Nwakali should bid his time and wait because we have our midfield already stock. Time and time again, you have ran with this line of argument. Can't one make same arguement about Osimhen since we have strikers in Europe performing at top gear.
Nwakaeme, Onachu, Kayode and Onyekuru were top scorers in their league.
Why can't the same argument be made about Osimhen if not the fact that he's a personal favorite of most people here?

Kayode was on the original list. Onyekuru wasn't.. Onyekuru scored a blinder that weekend and was added to the list.

The point is we are making conclusions from a limited set of variables. Rohr has seen Osimhen severally and is convinced about what he can offer.

The coach can only invite a limited number of players. Odey was invited and was dropped for Osimhen. Does that not give you a clue of how highly the coach rates him?

i've been following the osimhen debate since the weekend and frankly speaking i don't get all frenzy and hyperventilation over his invitation. rohr the coach has watched him several times in close quarters and by his own judgment he feels the boy has something. all of us unless someone says otherwise don't have coaching badges so what makes us more knowledgeable than the man who has so far been delivering? osimhen is just one player out of 20 plus invites. the other invitees we all for the most part agree are spot on so what's the beef. erickson took walcott to 2006 world cup heaven did not collapse. if we argue that that decision affected england's performance before that tournament the english were poor and have continued to be poor in subsequent competitions. samuel etoo an unknown 17 year old was taken to france 98. cameroon football didn't implode from that decision. coaches take risk in young players all the time some pay off some don't but it's all part of grooming new players. let's view him first before passing judgment on him. as for certain players not being called up instead of using the victim card why not encourage them to continue to work hard churning out impressive performances so the coaches can no longer ignore them. ogu was ignored for so long he's now back in the fold. ikeme wasn't given a second look now our undisputable number 1. if aluko plays for say a crystal palace and proves his quality in the EPL settlement or no settlement he will be called up. same for ajagun. onyekuru, kayode, mikel agu, balogun, ogu among others have through determination and persistent good performances been recognized and invited. yes we know how things operated in the recent past as regards invitation but lets not allow our scepticism to blind us to the fact that we are moving in the right direction
The painful truth is that some players no matter how good they perform will simply by the nature of things not feature for the Eagles. I might love such a player to my teeth, desire such a player, to be part of our team, clamour for him, display his stats, raise dust if he's not invited but still he will not just be invited or even if he's invited he'd be nothing but a fringe player. I feel for such players but it happens. Oruma's star was eclipsed by the mercurial quality of Jay Jay. Sometimes it's just badluck. Shikena.

But we should relax. It's not like Rohr gathered a bunch of efulefu players like them Dada (Michael Uchebo,) Reuben Gabriel, Oduamadi and left out the pick of the pack. Like you said we are heading in the right direction and indeed we are.

nobody is irreplaceable not even the great ronaldo or messi if they start posting consistent poor performances. what the goodjoe and other monikers have said is rohr has looked at osimhen and sees something special in the boy. its left for him to prove rohr right or wrong. its not like the boy is blocking the destiny of anybody abi were onyekuru, kayode, muazzem and even odey not called up? whoever you feel wasn't called up now if he continues to impress will get his chance
Granted, Osimhen is talented. The question is, have he done enough this past season to merit a call up? No!
Do we have more prolific players in Europe this past season who could arguably stake a greater claim of earning a national team call? Yes!

spot on! now let me bring the issue of agbim constant selection under keshi. we all rightly doubted his quality but we waited to observe him in some of our matches before we placed a final judgment that he is not super eagles material. i haven't formed an opinion on osimhen yet because i've not seen him in action for the super eagles yet. i think the boy at least deserves the benefit of doubt to prove his quality or lack thereof
The grouse is that some were on the queue before him. The coaches are partial. That's the argument. But I feel we should all watch. Infact only his trial will help us assess him and put this issue to rest.

Nigeria Already Dreaming Of 2018 World Cup _ Leon Balogun

Nigeria defender Leon balogun has
admitted that the Super Eagles are
already dreaming of playing in next year’s World
Cup.

The 2013 African champions are well placed to
reach Russia 2018, as they top Group B in the
qualifiers having won their opening two games
against Zambia and Algeria.

They face a potentially decisive double-header
against new Africa Cup of Nations winners
Cameroon in August and September, with the
Super Eagles first playing host to the Indomitable
Lions.

“It's [Cameroon’s game] a crucial game and a
home game we must win,” Balogun, who plays
his club football with Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga,
told TheNff.com.

“At home we have everything under our control,
we must use that to our advantage. Another
advantage is Uyo, our current home ground. Uyo
has become a fortress for us. I think it is one of
the reasons for our successes in recent times.
“Uyo fans have shown so much love for the
team and that has been very great. The ground
is great and the training pitch is also good. And
the Akwa Ibom State government has been very
supportive of our cause.

“Cameroon is a strong team, after winning
AFCON 2017 they've built up their confidence but
by the time we will play them it would be six
months after their win in Gabon, we must show
them we want the win more than they do.

“We need to make sure we get the maximum
three points to take our points tally to nine; that
will give us a big edge over other teams
including Cameroon. I'm seriously looking
forward to the game; we want to show them
that we are better than them.

“We are already dreaming of Russia 2018, but we
know we must work harder. We will ensure we
win all our matches especially our home games.” https://mtnfootball.com/news/706407/Nigeria-already-dreaming-of-2018-World-Cup-Leon-Balogun

Revealed – The Amount West Ham Are Proposing To Man CIty As Buy-Back Fee For Iheanacho

Kelechi Iheanacho proposed move to West Ham is very much alive with talks still ongoing on the issue of buy back fee, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Already West Ham have agreed to pay Manchester City 24 million pounds as transfer fee, but City wants a buy back clause with a set price after couple of years. An agreement is yet to be reached on that.
Owngoalnigeria.com gathered West Ham are currently holding on to a fee of 40 million pounds as buy back, but Man City are insisting on 30 million pounds which has stalled talks.
Also the duration which the buy back option will last is also yet to be resolved with City aiming at a period of four years, while West Ham wants the buy back option to last for a period of two and half years.
A compromise is far from reached, but the desire of Iheanacho to remain in England, particularly London is working perfectly for “The Hammers” who have already agreed personal terms with the forward.
According to the agency responsible for his transfer, a decision on his final destination will most likely be made public in two weeks time when judgement will be passed on the court case over his bonafide intermediary .

Against Korea, Josh Onomah was the best Nigerian player that day.. Ejaria even got a yellow card for an unnecessary and reckless tackle. So far in this tournament, you can't say that he has been better than Lookman, Onomah, Tomori, or Ojo.. it's only him and Solanke that are playing below the hype.. especially Solanke..
so because he was yellowcarded that means he is not good?

onomah was redcarded today what can you say about that?

We've seen talented players like Okocha not hit it big with the super eagles because the times have changed, football is no longer the same. Nobody wants a ball Clogher in his team.

Funny. Obodo and Rabiu are not fit enough to polish Jay-Jay's boot. Oruma pass them wella. Simple, great players are hard to replace. Spain producing another Xavi will take time.

England producing another Scholes might take another fifty years.

I still hanker for the great 10. I interpreted football according to the movement of the maestroes. I watched Baggio over the weekend and my heart began to ache. Is it for real that those days are long gone? Oouch!
