To ease myself the stress of making purees every morning , on Saturdays I make apple puree, Pear Puree, Avocado puree , carrot puree all depending on what I need for the week and store in the freezer . Anyone I need for the day I just bring it out in the morning while preparing breakfast nd warm it.

Then I made date syrup myself and put it in a jar and kept it in the fridge . When I make my baby's food i sweeten it with the syrup . Like she will be having rice cereal mixed with carrot puree this evening I ll add her milk then sweeten it with the syrup . The rice cereal was made by me also ( recession plenty grin )

Please how did you do the rice cereal? What type of rice did you use? Also how do you warm the pureed fruits?

My opinion is that she is taking too much of it. Give her once a day and then give other vegetables and fruits. Tom brown is millet, yellow corn and guinea corn. To me, it's like eating plenty garri and still expecting her poop to be soft.

Try and give other foods.

OK....tanx

I'd say start with pureed fruits (avocado, apple, pear, banana etc) and see how ur LO takes it...and then gradually introduce other pureed foods.

If u sabi sing well, just compose one 'feeding album' and use it to ginger ur LO to eat.
Not easy but with time, they'll come around.

For mama asking for tom brown preparation again, please see below:
Tom brown is a perfect food to wean your baby with, tom brown is nutritious and filling. A lot of Mamalettes often ask questions about where they can buy Tom Brown mix in Nigeria. But rather than buy Tom brown, why not make it yourself at home? Below is a step by step guide on how to make your own Tom Brown mix from scratch.

What makes up Tom brown mix is a mixture of cereals (yellow corn, guinea corn and millet) and legumes (soybeans and groundnuts). The cereals and legumes add a variety of nutrients beneficial to baby's good health to the meal.

What you need:

Millet
Guinea corn
Yellow corn
Soybeans
Groundnut
How to prepare:

1. Buy dried corn from the market, then roast it on fire until its turn brown and just before it starts popping like popcorn, remove it, leave to cool ( You can fry the two different types of corn together).
2. Fry your groundnut (1 Derica is okay depending on how much cereals you're using)
3. Fry the millet and the soya bean. You have to fry everything separately
4. After frying the soya beans, grind softly with mortal and pestle to remove the shaft, blow the shaft away with your mouth
5. Leave everything to cool
6. Combine all the ingredients together, if you have a high powered blender you can blend the mixture with your blender but if not, take it to the local mill to blend. The mixture should be blended dry (o not add water!)
7. Your Tom Brown mixture is ready! Pour it inside a dry container and prepare it

Method of preparing Tom Brown porridge

It's one thing to make the powder, it's another to know how to prepare it so it doesn't turn out lumpy, the key to achieving a silky smooth porridge is to stir it constantly especially at the beginning of the cooking just like semo).
Place a small pot on fire, pour small water into it, then make a thick mix of tom brown and pour it into the pot
Using a turning stick, turn till there's no lump in the mixture
Continue turning it until it becomes thick like a custard and looks cooked
The fire should be on a medium heat, cook for about 7 minutes until it becomes firm, cooked and smooth.
You can serve with baby milk or breast milk.

To prepare rice cereal use the following layout:
1. Get a white rice or brown rice( I prefer brown rice)
2. Wash the quantity of rice you need to dry.
3. Put it section by section into dry frypan and dry until it does not stick into your spoon
4. Scoop it out into a dry plate and let it cool before you blend

5. Ready your blender and blend it till smooth,

6. Then put it into a dry container and keep.
7. To cook, just put 2 or as you desire into a little water on fire
8. Then pour out and mix with any of your desire either breast milk, formula
9. You may even mix apple puree.

I dont think there is a definite time per se. sippy cup is just a glorified feeding bottle. grin

I started dd on a proper cup as soon as we started weaning at 6 months. I never really used a feeding bottle for water. ( just my personal preference)

I used a normal cup for water when feeding her, and sippy cup for other times and when on the go.

When getting a sippy cup, consider the type of valve if it has one.... the type with plenty pieces that interconnect are a pain to wash and be confident that they are actually clean and not harbouring mold... i only got one of this type and used it only for water as i could not convince myself that i could get the milk residue out. Now that we no longer sterilize anything i hardly use it.

I also stopped using feeding bottles at about 12 - 13 months as milk also given in a sippy cup.

But its all a personal preference i think when you want to introduce items.

That's exactly how I make mine . Then the warming of the puree I just add the puree while making the cereal or I warm it in a pot if she's meant to take the puree separately. I don't heat for long
