Mujtahida:Athletism is more appreciated these days than ball work. Midfield players these days are judged on Km covered, tackles won, ariel duels won and passes completed. That's is why you have more athletic midfielders these days whose stock in trade is back passes and sideways passes just to rack up their numbers on the data sheet. I watch anything when am in a good mood. Be it old football games or under 7s playing football in the neighbourhood field. |

tbaba1234:Those invites haven't been coming on a platter of gold. Kayode have had to work twice as hard as anyone to get any form of attention. Speaking to LIB, he said: 'For a long time now, I have not been invited to the National Team, maybe due to politics' "But I know very soon, Coach Rohr would look in my direction because my position remains vacant. I'm ready to score for Nigeria, I am ready to score for Rohr but all can come through only if I am invited. Some people said I play in a far league, some said I play in the cold, some said I play in Austria and Austria is not English premier league , but I will tell you, football in La-Liga is the same in Austria. I played in the Europa league last season, so what experience do i need again, I have represented Nigeria at youth levels and my mates like Onazi , and Omeruo are the ones playing currently for now.'' cc:Linda ikeji 03/2017 |

ON THIS OSINHEN MATTER,THERE IS NOTHING WRONG IN CARRYING HIM ALONG,THAT'S WHAT I CALL IT,I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND THAT ROHR IS GROOMING THE KID FOR THE FUTURE. FOR ME I BELIEVE WE SHOULD START INVITING KELECHI NWAKALI ALSO TO UNDERSTAND MIKEL BEFORE HE RETIRES. |

Mujtahida:I doff my cap for you... The modern day football world are trying their best to quantify talents and potential thereby taking away the beauty of each players contribution. As most fans only focus on the attacking ability of a player which brings about ridiculous comparison... |

goldfish80: Rohr was the first manager who did not ignore him. His team is gradually evolving. He needs the patience of Nigerians. |

Mujtahida:GBAM! you're too much baba! Very few people understand this. Not all players will ever get to play for the national team-some will only feature once, twice or luckily a tournaments and thats all. Look at Mba d dude that handed us our 3rd AFCON wasn't call up again after that glorious moment. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:Sir, I beg to disagree. The main reason we no longer have such players again is not as a result of lack of young talents to fill in their shoes but modern day football system does not give room for players to develop into that anymore. It's now all about Pass Pass Pass and Score. Disclaimer: I am No Babylonian! |

Sad news about Tiote. Dude was a pocket dynamite for FC Twente when they won the Dutch league and later Newcastle. He was the closet I saw of an African to Micheal Essien in his hey days. What a sad story. Rip 2 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: That might be your confession and your personal value such that you create an Idol of a coach that has only just come to the SE. I do not look-up to him or make an assumption that can only come from low self esteem. That he Rohr is all knowing where the SE is concerned. If a white guy said that to me I would consider it a racist jibe. Coming from you I'm lost for complementary words to respond. What does the old age of Methusela have to do with the wisdom of Solomon. I do not think he KNOWS MORE THAN ME AT ALL. Older yes more knowledgeable in what context because he is white European experience is not synonymous with wisdom. Maybe in your idea that coaches are small demi gods that have exclusive knowledge that nobody else has. By the way Trezeguet and Henry were already killing it at Monaco already as established and proven top forward players. They were not learning to strap boots. Cantona has always been a head strong trouble maker nobody was suprised when he left out. 1 Like |

goldfish80: A lot will happen how? Football is not like that. From Iheanacho's U17 till now, he is still the poster boy. A coach sighting him as a promising talent will not be mislead believing he is still good today. I started watching Thiago Alcantara at 15. He is still an asset today. Rohr identifying Osimhen as a special talent months ago will not change in few months. Na wa. O ye Babylonian, calm down. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:35pm On Jun 05, 2017 |
komekn: Get something clear, the coaches rule their universes because they have the blueprint and strategies for the team. So if a coach believes a particular player fits his team, it is his World. Keep in mind I pointed out that in minutes, Amunike noticed Osimhen was special. Siasia shared the same sentiments and invited him to the U23 Olympics camp not long after the U17 exploits. Scouts and agents from top clubs also wanted his signature. If I am correct, Stellar group that handles Gareth Bale signed him to their agency. Wolfsburg managers believe he is special. So I wonder why Rohr believing the young man is special is a problem. Or, are you a Babylonian? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:38pm On Jun 05, 2017 |
komekn: They were playing well at Monaco but Henry and Trezeguet were small fishes to Cantona and Ginola. Please, I followed Tigana's Monaco because of Ikpeba. Trezeguet and Henry were bench warmers in France 98. They took their opportunities. I can even tell you that both of them scored in a match and the next day, I predicted Ikpeba will score against Bulgaria and he did. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 9:43pm On Jun 05, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe: Alot have indeed happened since last year. The world didn't stand still and wait for Osimhen to kick start his professional career. Lots of Nigerians home and abroad have been up and doing in their footballing careers. People have won Mvp in their respective leagues. Some have emerged top scorers in their base. Opabunmi used to be the poster boy for the 2001 U17s what later happened? Emmanuel Sanni used to be the Mvp, top scorer and poster boy for the 09 U17s, what later happened? Being poster boy for a youth team doesn't mean anything. Sinama Pogolle and SOULEYMANE nko? What have they gained since they were the poster boys of their countries at the fifa U17s? for your info, SOULEYMANE was highly rated in 2011 just like Osimhen, if not higher. How have being poster boy guaranteed his success in the sport? |

AIG07: Have you watched Isco and Pastore? Neymar, Hazard etc. We got lots of players today with loads of tricks. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:45pm On Jun 05, 2017 |
goldfish80: I repeat, Sinama had a terrible injury. Souleyman, I did not hear of top clubs fighting for him like Osimhen. Remember, Osimhen turned down Arsenal. Special talents do not easily get swept away by time. Ask Mikel. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:48pm On Jun 05, 2017 |
goldfish80: When we are talking Identified as a special talent, we are not talking of tournament honors alone. I said within minutes, Amunike identified Osimhen as special. Such Identity is not tournament goal scorer. Comprende? |

Mujtahida: You score goals you no score that's not measurement but Reality of the game. Statistics do no lie. So we should measure how many times you miss and how much the coach likes you. irrational rhetoric no substance. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 10:01pm On Jun 05, 2017 |
komekn: At 15, I did not see Thiago Alcantara score a goal but I knew he was special. That is instincts. You can not measure it. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 10:01pm On Jun 05, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:Hahaha... Souleymane Coulibaly was heavily courted by Man Utd, Arsenal and Real Madrid before Tottenham pulled a minor miracle to sign him up. You think a kid who equalled a tournament record of 9 goals in just 4 games wasn't considered something "special"? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 10:03pm On Jun 05, 2017 |
goldfish80: Please read carefully before typing anyhow. I said, identifying special talents is not by tournament highest goal scorer alone. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 10:07pm On Jun 05, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:What do mean he wasn't considered special talent by being tournament highest goal scorer? What was expected of a special talent if not such achievement? You want him to be considered a special talent in eating okro soup? Like I said, there will always be question marks around his continued invite until he starts delivering for his club. Till then (?) |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 10:09pm On Jun 05, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:If Osimhen had scored 2goals in Chile will you consider him special talent who should get an invite to the senior national team even without kicking a ball for his club? Serious question. |

komekn:The irrational is the basis of all true art. Machine is not all that there is! Let's have beauty, passion and guts in football and not this craze after numbers and statistics to the extent that an altar has been set up for it where empiricists bow down and worship. You can worship in such a temple but I cannot. It's boring abeg. Call the below irrational rhetorics too "The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science. Whoever does not know it and can no longer wonder, no longer marvel, is as good as dead, and his eyes are dimmed."- Einstein "Good acts are like good poems. One may easily get their drift, but they are not rationally understood." Einstein "I believe in INTUITIONS and INSPIRATIONS . I SOMETIMES FEEL that I am right. I do not know if I am-Einstein It is true that the grasping of truth is not possible without empirical basis. However, the deeper we penetrate and the more extensive and embracing our theories become the less empirical knowledge is needed to determine those theories - Einstein. Keep staring at numbers and stats. Me: woowwwww omo did you see that sangalo by Iwobi? 1 Like |
