TheGoodJoe: That means Oshimhen was invited because of his form in training some 8 months ago. How you're making a fist of this arguement beggars belief. But I'm not surprised, your antecedent and disdane for game time is well documented. I'd be crazy to expect anything less from you. 2 Likes |

Icon4s: I do not develop ideologies. I study and you can find out that they make big sense. A good example is Osimhen's case. When I was hammering about training above game time, people argued. Today, Rohr is doing precisely that. Someone like you should see that I was right but you decide to bury your head from the fact right in front of your eyes. Another example is how you argued against Rohr checking on Oshaniwa. At the end, Rohr did precisely what I said. Invited him to camp, neglecting the lack of game time and seeing for himself if Oshaniwa was still good enough. If Rohr is impressed with Osimhen's form in training, all those game time talk is nothing but Super Story. What matters is those who stand out in camp. Not historical data. 2 Likes |

goldfish80: Yes. Rohr said he did not invite him again because of he did not want a young player suffering from rejections. Not that the boy was not impressive. Rohr invited him and was not disappointed which meant him keeping his place in camp. The question you should ask yourself is that, if game time was all that, why did Osimhen keep his place in camp, get a chance for a debut while regular game time players got kicked out? |

South Africa Appoints New Captain, Coach Boast – Our Game Plan Will Shock Nigeria Coach of the South Africa national team Stuart Baxter has replaced Itumeleng Khune as the captain of the team ahead of their AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against Nigeria in Uyo on Saturday. Baxter named former South Africa U-17,21, and 23 defence hardman Thulani “Tyson” Hlatshwayo who plays for newly crowned PSL Champions Bidvest Wits. Hlatshwayo earned the nickname Tyson due to his uncompromising way of defending especially his bravery in tackles and aerial duels right from his days as a youth international for South Africa. Shortly after naming Hlatshwayo as captain Baxter boast that his wards will give the Nigerians a tough time during this weekend game in Uyo. The coach said they have done their homework on the Nigerian team and perfected their own game plan. “We need a positive result in Nigeria and we have capabilities to hurt them,” he said. “When we get there, we should be ready. There is no perfect world but I have positive belief. “We are going to be a big nuisance to them; we want to be a nightmare they don’t want. I respect Nigeria but we are not going there to make up the numbers”, Baxter said. While others were fighting their ways into reckoning, igiebor and his likes were busy blabbing Exclusive – PSG Open Transfer Talks With Gent Over Out Of Favour Eagles Ace Anderson Esiti Anderson Esiti is in line for a big move away from Belgium side Gent with French giants PSG currently holding talks over his transfer. Owngoalnigeria.com exclusively gathered that talks are already on regarding his possible transfer with Gent willing to let the midfielder nicknamed the beast leave this summer. Esiti joined Gent last summer for €1.5m from Portuguese side Estoril, but the club have a 15% sell on clause in the deal that took him to the Belgium side, which means they are also entitled to a chunk of his transfer fee if he moves to PSG. Already Gent has quoted €20m as his price tag to PSG, who are now looking for ways to beat the price down a bit, as the player is high on the summer transfer wishlist of coach Unai Emery. The 23 year old has fallen out of favour with the national team selectors of Nigeria, and despite his fine form for Gent in the recently concluded season, he still wasn’t considered for the training camp in France, and the game against South Africa this weekend. 2 Likes |

Nigerian's already overcrowded midfield keeps getting interesting by the day. I never gave up on Ify even when he was with Kano pillars Exclusive – Anderlecht Close To Reaching Agreement With Lillestrom For Ifeanyi Matthew Highly rated former Nigeria youth international Ifeanyi Matthew could join the bandwagon of Nigerian players moving to Belgium with Anderlecht locked in talks over him. The Belgium side are in the market for a replacement for Youri Tielemans who left the club for Monaco at the start of the summer transfer window. Matthew was recommended to the club, and after studying clips of his games for Norwegian side Lillestrom, the club have tabled an offer according to a source close to the player’s agent. ” Anderlecht are presently the front runners for his signature although there are other teams interested in him. I think Club Brugge as well but am not sure “, he told Owngoalnigeria.com. ” Matthew has done well for Lillestrom, so it’s not a surprise that he is set for such a move after a year in Norway. We wait still but talks are progressing nicely”. Daniel Martins 3 Likes |

Sir forgiveness, how come u couldn't broker a better deal for Abdul Ajagun? While others are stepping up, he is headed for a small team in Lokeren. If Azubike's move to either Monaco or Besiktas comes to fruition, with Mathews imminent move to Anderletch (Belgium's biggest club) this transfer window, then ur boy would be on a long thing. Modified ; I think Onazi should find a way outta Turkey or better yet, make a move to a bigger club(in the mould of Besiktas, Galatasaray, Fener) because the competition might make him a victim of this looming stampede. I said this because in Nigeria, we respect clubs more than the talent in clubs. If Esiti (poor man's wanyama), moves to PSG hmm...I doubt Onazi would still be getting invites playing for Trabzonspor |

That's how you Idolised Pep without underpinning rationale. You are doing the same again consider your deductions what are they based on. 3 Likes |

forgiveness: Sometimes there are circumstances that influence coaches choices and players invitation and these things can be a little confusing. For instance,Kayode was already an established striker in Austria when Osimhen was still at the U17 ,yet Osimhen was invited ahead of Kayode due to the fact that Austrian league was lowly ranked while in Osimhen we discovered a super duper talent that needs to be nurtured on time. And lets be honest,Kayode is not a rare super talent like Osimhen and Iheanacho. 3 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: So what about those who stand out in thier teams proven, tested and established top consistent performers in top level teams and league. They should be left aside denied opportunity, excluded until Rohr decides according to his own self based and self justified unit of measurement that they are worthy. That's defies reasoning. |

komekn: Yes. He is the coach and the buck ends at his table. If the team fails, he will be the one who loses his job, not the players selected or ignored. If the ignored players are that ood, they have nothing to lose as a new coach will call them up. Players also don't need their national teams to be successful (George Weah, Ibrahimovich Litmanen etc come to mind). I dont know why this is hard to understand And by the way, people are appointed to exercise their judgment in certain matters. That is what leaders do. Let's give them the chance to do that. If you become a coach, not everyone who is aligned with you in this current argument will agree with your decisions as well as many will seem irrational. That is why you don't have 2 people with equal powers leading any organization. Someone needs to exercise their own judgment, so they can take responsibility for whatever comes along. When did we start reserving the 3rd choice striker slot our best youth team striker? Jesus! How is Osimhen at highly playing ground than both Awoniyi and Orji? Chinekemeee! Hilarious If Tores and bigger players they play 3rd choice for Spain, Germany etc, who be Ideye and co? Besides, who is our first and second choice striker? Commot Aweriem for this matter, he is not Osimhen mate. If Alampasu is warming the bench in a 3rd rated Portuguese Liga, I don't see why he should be invited. Top Performers In Eagles Training – Iheanacho’s Penalty Cancels Out Onyekuru’s Strike In Test Game The Super Eagles of Nigeria first training session involved series of warm up drills before the players were shared into two teams of ten players each for a test game. Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent at the training ground reports the session was very lively with the players bringing a lot of competitive edge to their game, as battle for shirts hots up. Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder John Ogu was very much the star man for his team using his giant body frame to good effect especially in physical duels and aerial battles, not forgetting how he helped his team when in possession. Alex Iwobi shone like a million stars as well, as his combination with Kelechi Iheanacho kept the duo William Troost-Ekong and Chidozie Awaziem busy for the duration the training session lasted. Henry Onyekuru finally showed the reason why he is so highly rated with a goal for his team, but his strike failed to win it for his side as Kelechi Iheanacho goal from the spot ensured the session ended 1-1. Nigeria/South Africa: Agu Clears Air Over Fasting, Targets Win Against South Africa Super Eagles goalkeeper coach Alloy Agu has targeted three points in Saturday's game against South Africa that would be a huge step in their bid to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in six years. The national team returned to the country at the weekend from France, where they played Corsica and Togo in practice matches. "A lot is expected of the Super Eagles against Bafana Bafana and we won't disappoint," said Alloy Agu to Brila FM. "We're on course with the goalkeeping department. Against Corsica we were on holiday. Togo kept them busy. "I don't think there's any problem in the Super Eagles over fasting. Since my time we've had players observing it." Alloy Agu ran the rule over Ikechukwu Ezenwa (FC Ifeanyi Ubah) and Dele Alampasu (CD Feirense) during the training camp in France but made room for Chippa United's Daniel Akpeyi when the roster was announced last week, for reasons everyone is aware of. http://allafrica.com/stories/201706060997.html 1 Like |

Eagles Newbie Ebuehi Reveals Why He Turned Down Netherlands For Nigeria Super Eagles Dutch-Nigerian defender Tyronne Ebuehi who plays for Dutch side ADO Den Haag has revealed the reason why he choose to play for Nigeria instead of the Netherlands, where he was born. Ebuehi made his senior international debut for Nigeria against Togo in a friendly game earlier this month, and the 21 year year old could make his competitive debut against South Africa this weekend. He is presently among the 21 players in the camp of the Super eagles preparing for the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers in against South Africa in Uyo on Saturday In an interview on the official website of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ebuehi revealed fellow Dutch-Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong convinced him to switch allegiance to the Super Eagles. He further said he believes playing for Nigeria will enhance his club career as an international player, and he is looking forward to nothing but victory over South Africa on Saturday. Eagles begin training, committed to victory over Bafana Nigeria has never lost a competitive match to South Africa at senior level, and the Super Eagles are confident that record will not only be sustained, but a convincing win by Nigeria awaits in Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. On Monday, 21 of the 24 invited players, alongside technical crew and backroom staff, arrived at their familiar Le Meridien Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo ambience, and training sessions began in earnest on Tuesday ahead of the big encounter. The South African Football Association has confirmed that the Bafana Bafana delegation will fly into Lagos on Wednesday and then immediately connect a flight to Uyo, as both teams looked forward to a pulsating game on the turf of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. Although the Bafana Bafana have never beaten the Super Eagles in a competitive game, Nigerians would remember that a 2-2 draw at the same venue between both teams in November 2014 meant the Eagles missed the cut for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals. Tokelo Rantie scored both goals, before left –sided midfielder Sone Aluko also replied with a brace – something that is a usual occurrence in matches between both nations. Before Rantie and Aluko, Rashidi Yekini (of blessed memory), pacy wingers Tijani Babangida and Osaze Odemwingie and forwards Uche Nwofor and Ejike Uzoenyi had bagged braces in matches between both nations at senior level. Midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, who will lead out the Super Eagles on Saturday in the absence of recuperating captain Mikel John Obi, told thenff.com on Tuesday: “It is a big game, and we are one for the big occasion. “I have confidence in the group that we have now and the ambition oozing in the camp. We want to go to the World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations. Starting well on Saturday will be key to our aspiration.” Winger Ahmed Musa, who netted a brace in a 3-0 defeat of Togo in a friendly in Paris on Thursday, alongside defender Kenneth Omeruo and newly –wed wing back Elderson Echiejile were the only squad members given until Tuesday to arrive camp. Nigeria’s army on Saturday will include former junior international Kelechi Iheanacho, who has scored in seven of his last eight matches for the Super Eagles, as well as record scorer in the FIFA U17 World Cup, Victor Osimhen. There are also this season’s top scorer in the Austrian Bundesliga, Olanrewaju Kayode, the pacy Moses Simon and the nimble –footed Alex Iwobi. The last outing between both teams was a friendly match at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit two years ago, which ended 1-1. Ahmed Musa scored a late goal in a game in which Daniel Akpeyi (likely to start in goal for Nigeria on Saturday) saved a penalty, but there was still time for the Bafana Bafana to draw level.
