if you know that Fulani are there you shouldn't have planted maize. many people refused to plant maize because it will attract cows.

Thats about the time my parents moved there and left 1991. I did my entire primary education in Zonkwa, as my father worked there and mother in Fadan Kaje.

Which primary school did you attend? I attended LEA 3 (St Paul) & my parents were there until around 1996 or thereabouts

@ op, is the ginger farming reserved for a particular weather condition?
it is mostly cultivated around kaduna, Niger, nassarawa and other northern state. some people have tried it small scale in south west. but the foreign buyers always prefer ginger from kaduna, they said the aroma is different

Nairaland Professional Farmers:

Where's the best region to setup a farm in Nigeria, both cash crops and animal farming respectively, in terms of productivity (yield, sustainability etc) and security - North or SouthWest?
labour is defenately cheap in the north. and grains are cheap in too. especially around saminaka where a man can cultivate up to 30-50 hectares of maize. the market in the north for poultry is not yet saturated and people still. com from the west to buy goats too. but do your research

Lovely thread.

I have bought my own ten bags of Ginger from Agatha, and I will give her 10/10.

You are wonderful and it was nice doing business with you.

Hope to get more if things go as planned.

The first picture is the bags of ginger and the second is while planting on 14/06/2017.

Hi Agathabishen, what a nice thread.
I did sesame seeds cultivation last year but the yield was not so good. I am considering the ginger this year.

Pls can you give a breakdown of ginger cultivation process from planting to harvesting?
Like when to apply fertilizer and type of fertilizer, when to feed and other relevant information to ensure optimum yield.
And the best time to harvest.
Also the pesticides/insecticides to use and when to apply them.
Thanks
