The Beek lad caught my eyes in the final, he was the only one who looked purposeful and assured when he came on and from what I gathered from the ajax crowds, they were divided on who should start between him and the other guy because he's been good everytime he's played..

That said, There are some players I don't trust in the U23 but believe me, some of them are good. Iirc, they won the u21 league consecutively irrespective of the poor coaching. We all saw how they played against a top flight crystal palace first team and never looked out of place against them.

Of course, the U23 team has had a massive talent drain over the years as the likes of Rashford, ashley, Januzaj, Powell, CBJ, Varela, Goss etc has all left hence there's huge drop in the talent pool but there are still the likes of Harrop, Kehinde, Tuazenbe, Poole and the 2 Perreiras. The other players such as Redmond, Olosunde, El filtroui, Mctominay and others are bang average though. The u18 team has better talents in their pool.

And I'm not saying Gomez should replace Lingard immediately but at least be an understudy until he gets accustomed to the league and finally replaces him. He didn't even look out of place in his cameo against crystal palace. Ronaldo/Messi/Rooney were already getting introduced into top flight at the age of 16-17yrs.

why not swap DDG for james and morata and maybe balance them 20mil??

I think Mourinho had problem with Costa before he left. But why would you want a player that can implode any time?
