daddysgal2015: Thanks daddysgal2015, the old uk visa application portal is confusing to me. I just registered and got to the part to choose the type of visit and I chose tourism but ticked that the main purpose of the trip is to visit/stay with a close family relative who is settled in the UK then I got a prompt that the type of visa I chose is not the correct choice for the trip with a link to guidance on visa selection. When I followed the link, I was directed to the new application portal and found out that I am not even eligible to apply for family visa which the next best option. I think i'll just go with the new portal which I had started before. |

good evening all i am planning to attend a summer school in West England this July. The summer school is just for 12 days. I want to know the category of visa i need to apply for. Secondly, an organisation is paying for the entire cost of the program i.e. Full scholarship..hence i need help on the aspect of the visa application requesting for bank balance. since it is a full scholarship, will a low account balance affect my application? |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by ekpotek: 11:51am On Jun 07, 2017 |
lightdream:. Special services if you can afford it. This is optional! |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by dcutey: 11:52am On Jun 07, 2017 |
lightdream: You don't need to pay for premium lounge appointment except you ticked that option when choosing your appointment date and time. I suggest you check whether you ticked that option and untick it if you did. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by ekpotek: 11:55am On Jun 07, 2017 |
transbut5: Visa category: Standard visitor for 6 months Bank balance: You must provide sufficient evidence on your own finances even though you got a full scholarship. Therefore a low bank balance will definitely affect your application unless you are a frequent traveller with lots of travel histories to USA, Canada, EU etc. that ECO will be comfortable to overlook your low bank balance. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by ekpotek: 11:59am On Jun 07, 2017 |
Martation: GWF number is computer generated reference number when you start a new application. The GWF reference number is required to book appointment on the TLS website. If your application form does not have a GWF number, I suggest you delete it and start all over again. |

I got my passport today. After waiting endlessly. I did biometrics on 5th april and didnt get any email since then until yesterday tls sent me 2 emails concurrently. D first says decision has bn taken and second mail says passport ready for collection. I got my passport today and visa vignette dated 28th april. So meaning there could hv been mis communication btw d ukvi sheffield and tls. Altho I asked for d status of my application when I didnt get any email and it was escalated. I ws scared cos my travel date has passed after waiting for so long. But today its all good. it took 45 working days to gt my passport back. My advise, if ur visit visa application takes more than 15days, send emails to ukvi customer service and follow up until its been escalated. Im off to Uk. 6 Likes |

ekpotek: Thanks what do you think is the minimum amount i need in my account that would suffice? and what if i ask someone to transfer that amount to my account? and can it be a naira account? In addition, i also heard that sponsors letter would suffice . is that true? like in the case of ptdf scholarship |

I don't know if someone that can't speak good English can write ielts exam for settlement visa If yes how can he or she can get good grade |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Brightingsus: 1:46pm On Jun 07, 2017 |
bimbulah: IELTS is a test on your level of English. You need to understand and speak English. It is only basic English, but you must be able to communicate. My Wife had to do it to get her spouse visa to join me. It depends on what one you do. There is IELTS life skills which is about two people communicating before an examiner. You introduce yourselves and ask yourself questions. There are apps on iOS Apple Store and android play store for free downloads. I'll advise you download and test yourself on your level. |

Hello @justwise @ekpotek and other gurus on here. Please do we need any other documents apart from these for my mums application (53years old retiree)?: -Her passport -Our passports -Joint Invitation letter -Joint account statement showing the money we saved for her trip (1 month statement) -My spouse's 6 months payslips -My spouse's 6 months bank statement showing how money goes into our joint account (bulk of the money coming from my this account -My 1 month bank statement showing my contribution to the joint account as I just registered and started trading as self employed (still expecting my unique tax code from HMRC). -Letter from the occupant of the house shel be living in (8 mins drive from our house) for the duration of her visit stating she can stay there for the duration (We have a one bedroom apartment now but currently looking for a two bedroom apartment as we are expecting and we think it might not be ideal for her application). PLEASE NOTE: We are planning on applying for two years visa for her so she can easily reuse later without making another application after this visit. She's been here to visit before in 2012 for one month. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by ekpotek: 3:49pm On Jun 07, 2017 |
Batba1: You have not listed document from your mum side apart from her passport. She will need to provide documents such as bank statement, properties, etc to show that she will return back to Nigeria. Fortunately, since this is not her first application, you can provide document used in her last successful application with an update to reflect her presence circumstances. I think you should be silenced on her accommodation staying with someone else. The ECO may view this a lack of sufficient finances on your part to put her in an hotel. Just filled that she will be staying with you. Period. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by ekpotek: 3:55pm On Jun 07, 2017 |
transbut5: You must sufficient amount to show that you can afford this trip on you own. So do the math. Asking someone to transfer an amount into your account may be viewed as money lodgement by the ECO to get the visa. Since its a summer school, the organizer should send you a sponsorship letter. Check back through the thread and you will find an example of such a letter. |

Hi, I have just received CAS confirmation of application for studies but I have not maintained my 28 day maintenance period of funds before I received it so if I do not activate CAS now and wait for 28 days and then activate will that be an issue. Additionally, I just checked in the website it says you need to apply your visa maximum 3 months before your course start date, my course starts on the 14th of September and I am late in applying for visa due to delay in maintaining the funds in my account for 28 days. What do I do? |

Dear Ekpotek, please do you know the current fee for 6 months UK visa using Ikeja as VAC? Thanks alot. ekpotek: |

Oluebbie: VI center as the crowd is small, but you need to pay to use the VI center. Ikeja center is non-paying fee center but getting appointment may be difficult. 1 Like |
