realone009:He's likely not in school because assault is a civil case and not something he could be deported for. I guess he's on a student visa but not sincerely schooling, he assaulted someone and cops involved, then the checked his status and then boarder police involved then from their he got into detention and finally deported! Let him try Australia. 4 Likes |

Opoki:Assault is one of the more serious violations a Canadian can commit, and is classified as a criminal act, which means it will be tried in court. If a conviction is secured, it may result in a criminal record, complete with fingerprint records and other legal processing. https://www.pardons.org/types-assault-charges-canada/ |

salford1: Even at that it won't still earn him deportation, even when the assault involves bodily harm he will only serve the required punishment once convicted......Probably he was not schooling as suggested by the first respondent or he got involved in something much more serious and threatening to CANADA homeland security.this narration here is half truth 4 Likes 1 Share |

You/He should really tell us what's going on because I don't think with a legal status he can be deported with that. |
Re: Closed by salford1: 6:37am On Jun 07, 2017 |
Solatium:Read the last paragraph. @op. Hopefully. someone with info would help you out with regards to france, netherland or switzerland. There is a high chance that your cousin's criminal record would show up in Netherland. US shares information with Netherlands. US and Canada also share information with each other. The offence he commited in Canada hopefully might not lead to inadmissibilty in other countries he might be considering.... 1 Share

realone009: He should have gotten an attorney who could give him a soft landing by settling out of court or even pleading guilty at first hearing, declaring himself having issues with anger will fetch him a leniency and so far he's in school, he hasn't contradict his visa condition, we all have degree of tolerance. I really feel for him. Australia is expensive but he will get his study visa, he will have to pay tuition though and he can even transfer his credit, forget weda they share data or not, if they requested for anything about his deportation which i'm not really sure they will, he can simply give a clear detail and adding he has learnt his lessons and taken anger management class (If he has). He needs your support as a family, you need to encourage him, everything frustrate people in Nigeria. 4 Likes |

realone009:It's not a case of racism going by your narration. He pled guilty and was given a suspended sentence and his immigration lawyer (a different case from the criminal case) could not stop his deportation. There's hardly any Western country that does not require you to disclose any criminal convictions so the whether Canada shares the information with them or not is in consequential. He can try Germany, they may be more lenient if he is able to explain his crime. He can also try South Africa. He can also try migrating to Canada or Australia, perhaps the criminal record may not be too important for those situations. |

realone009: You only believe what your cousin tpld you bro, those guy's are not like Nigerian poli e oo,for your Cousin to be convicted there is more than strong evidence against him...gbagbe cock and bull story wey him dey tell you................. let me narrate the story of a deportee to you,the guy had a 6mths visa to go to UK,he couldn't raise ticket fare for over 5 months,he eventually gpt the money some few weeks to visa expiration,he left fpr UK,rather for him to stay with his Dad's friend who offer to accommodate him he decided to hang with his boy's who were on student visa but never reported at school for once, one day on their way out they drove roughly and got stopped by the police, their identity were requested, police called the home office for their details to be verified, the one on student did not get any backing from the school since he never reported for once, the one on expired visiting visa was asked to lead them to his abode which was searched, from there to police station and immigration removal center....... to cut the story short he was sent home,he lied to some people who knows nothing that he was picked on bus, this was in 2003 when UK was still lenient with migrants,I told those he lied to that there is no way police will stop him on bus except they have been tailing him, eventually he told me the truth the day I spoke to him.the guy is highly depressed now and he is practically useless.......the reason for tgis long story is that, you were not there, your cousin only told you what you need to hear so he can have your sympathy 1 Like 1 Share |

Your cousin should stay on in Nigeria, he has an international criminal record, it would be difficult and a waste of money for him to get visa to any of these countries, especially Australia, they don't joke with crime. Good luck. 2 Likes |

I can understand why your cousin wanna make a move Asap, not easy living in that side of the world and coping again in this fuced up country. He should try non speaking English countries. By your write up, I guess he's still loaded he should try Norway, Lithuania, Italy, Latvia or Malta.(English speaking) I don't think those will keen on background check. |
Re: Closed by ferhyntorlah(f): 4:10pm On Jun 07, 2017 |
It's such a pity your cousin got deported. Having an international criminal resident isn't a good thing. I thing I know is US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and a few EU countries share information with one another. Those who are familiar with visa applications will know what I'm talking about. Let your cousin go to lenient countries like the poster above suggested. |
Re: Closed by realone009: 5:28pm On Jun 07, 2017 |
dustydee: True talk, but we searched the internet and found that some countries don't even ask those questions, and that their schools apply for the visa on behalf of the student. I no wan mention the countries before spy go check see am dem go come start to dey ask about criminal record. Anyway, OK I'll tell him to try Germany but aren't their programs taught in German? Yes I have heard about someone who got deported from Malaysia but later left for S.A, but I heard that South Africa isn't so good for Nigerians and that Nigerians are getting killed due to xenophobia. But that's a very good option. Thanks man! |

Love12345123456: Okay, thanks. You really understand what's up. But have you heard of any country that doesn't check for criminal records, or ask those questions in their application before issuing a study visa? |
