440 is a very substantial amount, surely the next step will be to replicate or set up such training facilities and programs in Nigeria, the army, Air Force and navy can all benefit from such.
I know the Nigerian Army has a special forces training school in Buni Yadi but how versatile is the training there?

Also any idea who funds such treaining abroad?
May be but historical we send folks to PAK & the come here when its necessary.
Funding- MOD

I think what is happening is that they are still benchmarking and will soon come up with a "concept".

Similar to SA when people were sent abroad to countries like Chile, Taiwan etc to train with their SF units.

The issue is that in Nigerian banks, police stay outside bank premises making it easy for robbers to launch attack on them before going for their target.

3 police were killed because it was easy for the robbers to target them on sight but it's not something easy for a police officer who wasn't expecting such.

I expect banks to have a place where police stay inside the building (give them access to CCTV) then they can counter the robbers with zero or no casualty. Keeping them outside makes them vulnerable to ambush.

That nigga is a fool, trying to breach a closed corner like that? I just hope that officer wasn't among those killed. He really tried .

That technic of going to side....used by the armed robber is a classic military technic .....just that it was badly executed, the police would have survived if he maintained his cover, also how fast can he change his magazine and had extra magazines or side arms. .....also those are the 7.62 rounds, can those blocks have stopped the charging rounds; I suggest bank security posts be rebuilt with built proof materials. ...and security post with cctv observation post and armed men....

Yes, he should have maintained cover. He was in position to take out most of the robbers. However, he was alone and his mind probably told him to bail out and pick cover. Using suppressive firing when alone against over 4 armed robbers is a bad idea.
Who will cover him when he's about to change his ammo? He could have observed well before firing the first shot.

Those guys that went for the money should have been his first target. Calculating well, you can always out 3 guys fast unaware with a ak47.

Before those guys in the car react, get yourself ready. You're in cover already. They'll either abandon mission with 3 men dead. (Remember 3 police were killed, if he has killed those 3 first, the other officers would have engaged the driver and their leader)

Dad is the police and he will always say calculation isn't in mathematics alone. Forget about your feeling if you'll die, you'll die so try your best to survive by doing the right thing.

It was only the armed robber that died in that incident. The policeman escaped with injuries.

Thank God, this is all i wanted to know...

@tdayof, from the video, it shows that he first shot at those going into the bank but missed before turning to those in the car.....

As far as I know Recce training has been based on British SFs/SAS/SBS since it's inception.

Coupled with Rhodesian Selous Scouts.

However, it's clearly hard to point out what our own guys do because of the secrecy surrounding their current operations. Not even Frumentius mentions it.

Not true!
According to Channels Tv, the attackers numbering up to 12 killed 3 people in an attack that lasted 50 minutes.
Here is the link: https://www.nairaland.com/3644495/robbers-attack-zenith-bank-owerri

Fact and Reality: The attacker are just 4, the attack lasted less than 3 minutes and only one person died, the robber.
If you read the comments on that link carefullly, you will read eyewitnesses account of the actual event.
Channelstv claimed an unnamed source in their report which lacks truth and substance.

"Last year was a busy year for the Rooivalk, with the attack helicopter firing thousands of cannon rounds and rockets at rebels in the DRC and Denel pushing ahead with a possible upgrade and export sales of the aircraft.

2016 was the busiest year for the Rooivalk in terms of , with the three aircraft deployed to the United Nations mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Monusco) firing 1 200 70 mm rockets and 11 000 rounds of 20 mm ammunition. This compares to 55 70 mm rockets in 2013, when the aircraft were first deployed to the DRC. In total, from 2013 to 2015, the Rooivalks had flown 1 163.3 hours in the DRC and fired 199 70 mm rockets and 610 rounds of 20 mm ammunition.

An idea of how busy the aircraft were last year comes from the last two weeks of December 2016, when Rooivalks engaged in combat eight times, mostly against ADF rebels in the region of Beni in the eastern DRC. Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels were mostly in the Rooivalk’s crosshairs but other smaller rebel groups/armed gangs were targeted as well. "

Yes the numbers aren't staggering, but at least Rooivalk is being used operationally. Bear in mind they are under U.N orders, not SANDF. So tactics differ.
