I know this is a hot topic but the highlighted part? I dont think anyone has funded bloody regimes in Africa or elsewhere in the world like the West. Some of the best leaders in Africa died in the hands of the West, not to mention the most evil regimes in Africa were by them. Not that I have an issue with them but its better when they know Africa has legitimate alternatives to partner with. Nonetheless, China is spreading its wings to find minerals for its big economy.

Times have changes, Tayser. That was during the cold war, when the east and the west were tussling to stymie the spread and the influence of the other's political ideologies in the world. Russia, China and the other countries that supported communism sparked wars, helped stage coups and assassinations in their bid to eliminate capitalist leaning govts, politicians and even ordinary individuals, viewed too westernized in their thinking.

The west also did the same, admittedly. They were willing to prop up bloody dictators, just to hold back the spread of communism in a given country, and they were hesitant to comdemn their murderous policies.

But times have changed, when communism fell they changed tack, they so no need of supporting such abominable leaders. The reason why there are almost no such leaders in Africa today.

Some people say Kenya's only refinery died slowly because politicians or businessmen with influence in the oil tanker and shipment business saw that they could make more money importing refined petroleum directly instead of government importing crude oil, refining it then selling it to local oil suppliers ... So they came together put there influence and made sure the refinery dies off poor management and lack of repaires then sell it when it was too damaged that it will be more expensive to repairs than building a new one... THAT IS AFRICA FOR YOU

Some Nigerians here like myself for instance have admitted that Kenya has some things better than Nigeria buh i have never seen any Kenya admit anything or any sector in which Nigeria is better than them.

For Nigerians its worth every penny, some going to the point of coming to Kenya exclusively for the purpose of obtaining an American Visa which is hard to get in Naija.
