All this semi-upgraded federal university sef! I remember back in the day at OAU, NASUU does not need to write to ASUU to join them for protest or industrial actions. Naturally they NASUU would just cripple activities within and outside the campus now tell me which lecturer go teach when all the power supply and water has been cut off. Even students too would be forced to join them as the whole campus community will not be comfortable again for everyone including the VC. ASUU sef don't need to write NASUU yo join them for theirs too as once students are not going for lectures and halls of residence will automatically turn to relaxation centres thereby forcing NASUU to quickly ask that lecturers demands should be met asap when we students are getting busy with cooking beans and disturbing the whole peace of the school. Lest I forget even students also can go for their own lectures boycott which is a norm and once there's an issue the entire students want a quick solutions and interventions. Now, we also don't need to write either ASUU or NASUU to join us as they have no choice than to quickly ask the students' affairs to do something quick cos the tension would be very high everywhere! There are only two institutions in Nigeria jare; OAU and others!!! Of the Greatest IFE!!! |

Although the NASU people are fighting for their entitlement, but this their thuggery action is uncalled for. Must they resort to violence before their grievances are heard? There are other ways they can go about it to bring about total compliance of the strike. Since, they are in charge of non academic activities, they can simply make the university environment non conducive for lecture activities by simply locking all the lecture rooms, offices, and laboratories since they are in charge of the keys. They can also switch off the wifi and generator as most lecturers and students come to school to browse and charge. Its a pity some lecturers were beaten including a dean for that matter. Is that the footprint they want we students to follow? I know how these non academic staff can be, they frustrate the hell out of students, if the student should protest against their action they will tag you "rude". There was a day i went to stamp my school fee receipt, i overheard a staff telling a female student that she wont stamp her receipt because she did not greet her. Honestly there was no way the student could have even remembered to greet her because of the crowd. A lot of students were jostling to get their receipt stamped. If we students should start our own showdown with the university the management should not even give a hoot because I'm sure the riot they are causing now will be a child's play compared with the one the students will cause. So the NASU people should better keep their cool. This is a new university, they shouldn't set the foundation on strike ooo... Biko, we no wan strike pass thunder oo..LOL |

This one wey every union in some government universities they fight for hazard money no good. This will astronomically increase the wages paid every month. Those truly entitled to hazard are staffs working in workshops and laboratories even lecturers are not entitled to it in a sane clime. I bet UI & OAU etc dont give hazard allowance to them SSANU, NASU and ASUU. wetin COSIGN me. |
